New Finds!!

I’ve had lots of requests for another new finds post – apparently you guys like them! I like writing them : )

New Finds this !

Edacious Podcast

First off, I was recently interviewed by Cville blogger and podcaster Jenée Libby for her podcast Edacious. Check out our interview here! I had a great time talking with Jenée and was humbled to be asked to be a part of Edacious. All of her episodes have been so fun to listen to – there are episodes about No Bull Burgers, Splendora’s Gelato and Brookville – all local favorites of mine!

EdaciousII

Amika Dry Shampoo

I absolutely love Birchbox, and this was the best find of the year. I hadn’t tried a dry shampoo before, but my hair is definitely the kind that needs to be washed everyday so a shampoo without a shower sounded appealing. This product is AMAZING and can make my hair look freshly washed if I’m going to the gym or showering later in the day for some reason. Plus it makes it look blonder somehow! Also the smell…..incredible. Everything in the Amika line smells awesome.

Foodblog (1 of 2)

Buf Cheese

This mozzarella is SO GOOD! Probably because it’s from free range and grass-fed dairy = high quality. Amazing with tomatoes! Found it at Whole Foods!

Foodblog (1 of 1)

Stitch Fix Summery Tops

Stitch Fix has been killing it this summer – I have kept nearly everything they’ve sent! My favorites have been sleeveless summer tops. I love them all! Clearly lace is in…

Foodblog (2 of 2)

Dear Carolina

This book is such a great summer read. I am only halfway through, but I’m really enjoying it. The women characters are so real, and the storyline is good!

Dear Carolina

I discovered it because the author Kristy Woodson Harvey (also a design blogger!) reached out to me about including a KERF recipe in a companion cookbook. Inside you’ll find my Better-Than-Fried Okra recipe along with a bunch of other Southern recipes. To get a PDF copy of the cookbook with your book purchase, just email Kristy at [email protected]!

Rodan And Fields

My friend Katherine recently started selling Rodan & Fields products, which are developed by the dermatologists who developed Proactiv. She gave me a sample set to try out and share my thoughts with you guys. I’m using the Reverse line, which is designed to brighten and even skin tone, reduce lines and wrinkles and defend against sun exposure. It comes with an exfoliating facial cleanser, a toner, vitamin C and retinol serums, and a sunscreen. I love the simplicity of the four steps – everything you need all in one set. And, as a smell person, the smell is great – very fresh and like a shampoo (and I think shampoos are the best smelling products!) I like all of the products so far! Email Katherine at [email protected] if you want to learn more!

Roden and Fields

Summer Soundtrack

I have been listening to so much music this summer! Absolutely obsessed with One Direction at the moment. I know – boy band and all – but their songs are just so good. My favorite is Steal My Girl, but I also love Happily, Where Do Broken Hearts Go, No Control and You and I. Undecided on the new single Drag Me Down, but it’s really growing on me!

One Direction

But really the best song of the year goes to Love Me Like You Do. Which is why I am obsessed with this acoustic mash-up of LMLYD, Sugar and See You Again. So gorgeous!!

Speaking of Sugar….epic song, epic video.

What is playing on your summer soundtrack!?

That book sounds so good! I am in the market for a new book and going to look for that one. Anything with a companion cook book is a win in my book 🙂

Haha, it’s actually Rodan and Fields (not Roden), per the packaging! I also love Amika products…I have the Moroccan oil and it smells so amazing. Good finds, Kath!

I have the same green lace top from Stitch Fix…I love it as well. I have received SEVERAL summary tops with lace in my past couple of fixes and love all of them. I agree…they have been killing it. I opened up my June fix and my first words out my mouth were “oh my goodness I love all of this”.

Oooh, that Rodan and Fields line sounds awesome! I’ve previously used the Arbonne microderm scrub- have you ever tried that (no, I don’t sell it, lol, I’m really just curious). That was really great for my skin (but at $32 a bottle was a little too pricey) – wondering if this line compares!

Keep in mind also that our products last at least 2 months, often 3-4. I would love to give you more information! Let me know how I can help.

Hi Kath! Happy Friday! First of all, I can’t believe you have to wash your hair everyday! You poor thing! I go as long as possible without washing, so I rely on dry shampoo. hahaha I know, I know. And I’ve heard great things about the R+F line, so it’s good to hear more. Definitely something I’d look into one day. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Have you checked into the ingredients in your Rodan + Fields products? As I’ve become more conscious of what I put in and on my body, I’ve learned how full of chemicals, toxins, fragrances, preservatives, etc. skin care products can be. When I was approached by a R+F consultant, I immediately contacted my estitichian to get her opinion on the products. Together we researched the ingredient in R+F products and she advised me to stick to more natural/organic products.

That is exactly why I stopped using R+F products. I am surprised that you are promoting them on KERF as you usually steer us toward more natural/organic products.

I’ve been needing new music for runs/walking my dog and Megan Davies is perfect! Thank you so much!

Also, if you like the Amika line try out the texture spray — I typically hate products in my hair because it feels gunky, but I got a sample of it in my Birchbox or Beauty Box and I really like it.
