Naturepedic Mattress Review (For A Tween!)

Mazen went from a big boy bed to a teen bed! We upgraded his bed to a full and got a new organic mattress. Here’s my Naturepedic mattress review and all the details on the bed switch. Disclosure: The mattress was gifted to us, but this post is not paid. Get 15% off with my links and the code KATHEATS.

Naturepedic Mattress Review this !

We were very excited to surprise Mazen with a new bed for his good grades (We would have done it anyways, but it was a good reason to celebrate academics!). While I slept in a twin bed all through college, I do think it’s nice to be able to spread out more, so we went with a full.

Here are the before pics of his twin:

Naturepedic Mattress Review

I knew whenever we got Mazen a new mattress we’d go with Naturepedic because I see my friends Anna and Terilyn recommend them all the time. A vetted product is always easy to buy! Coincidentally, Naturepedic had reached out to see if I was interested in joining their affiliate program, so the timing was perfect. They gifted us the mattress to try out and review.

What makes Naturepedic stand out:

Naturepedic mattresses are known for their high-quality materials, organic certifications, and eco-friendly design. They also have a 100-night trial, 25 year warranty, and free returns if you want to swap out your firmness.

1. Certified Organic & Quality Materials

  • Made with organic cotton, organic wool, and organic latex (depending on the model).
  • No polyurethane foams, flame retardants, or toxic chemicals.
  • They don’t use chemical flame retardants (uses natural wool or PLA batting instead) (still meeting all required flammable standards for a mattress).

2. Health & Safety Benefits

  • Hypoallergenic and resistant to dust mites and mold. This is great if you are allergy prone.
  • Thomas and I noticed there was almost ZERO off-gassing, which is a huge pro.

3. Sustainable & Eco-Friendly

  • Uses sustainable farming and manufacturing practices.
  • Biodegradable and recyclable materials reduce environmental impact.
  • Made in the USA

4. Ethical & Transparent

  • Third-party certifications include GOTS, GOLS, MADE SAFE, and GREENGUARD Gold.
  • Naturepedic is a certified B Corp, meaning they prioritize people and the planet over just profits.

Serenade Organic Hybrid Mattress

This is the Serenade Organic Hybrid Mattress, which was recommended as a great middle-of-the-road mattress that has both latex and coils. From the website, the materials are as follows: “Premium GOLS certified organic latex offers a smooth feel without polyurethane foam or memory foam. Our 8″ glueless encased coils provide balanced support without toxic adhesives. 100% GOTS certified organic cotton and wool. No flame retardants whatsoever.”

The Serenade comes in firm, cushion-firm, and plush comfort levels. We went with the Cushion-Firm for Mazen.

Naturepedic Mattress Review

The mattress feels great. It’s soft without sagging and very comfortable. While I haven’t slept in it, Mazen loves it. I do think that if I were going to buy one for me, meaning I’d be sharing it with Thomas, I’d go with the firm. When both Mazen and I are in it together, it’s not as stationary as I’d like in a mattress with another person in it.

Best Naturepedic Mattresses for Adults

I did a little research on adults, too, because I’d like to consider this whenever we need a new king mattress for upstairs.

1. Most Popular: EOS Classic Organic Mattress

  • Type: Hybrid (latex + pocket coils)
  • Firmness: Adjustable on each side (plush, medium, or firm)
  • Best for: Couples, combination sleepers, those who want a long-lasting, eco-friendly mattress
  • Bonus: You can swap out comfort layers instead of replacing the whole mattress

2. Best Luxury: Halcyon Collection

  • Type: Hybrid (organic latex, cashmere, alpaca, pocket coils)
  • Firmness: Customizable
  • Best for: Those wanting a plush, high-end feel with maximum comfort
  • Bonus: Handmade craftsmanship, ultra-breathable for cooling and good for hot sleepers

3. Best for Back Pain: Concerto Organic Mattress

  • Type: Hybrid (innerspring + organic comfort layers)
  • Firmness: Medium-firm
  • Best for: Back and side sleepers, those with back problems

4. Best Budget-Friendly: Serenade Organic Mattress

  • Type: Hybrid (latex + pocket coils)
  • Firmness: Medium or firm options
  • Best for: Budget-conscious buyers who want organic comfort

Choosing Based on Sleep Position:

Side Sleepers: EOS (Plush), Halcyon, Serenade (Medium)
Back Sleepers: EOS (Medium-Firm), Chorus, Serenade (Firm)
Stomach Sleepers: EOS (Firm), Serenade (Firm)

I think I’d go with the EOS Firm because I am a stomach sleeper who likes a firm mattress! There can’t be any jiggle when rolling over.

Pottery Barn Emery Platform Bed

The bed frame we chose is the Emery Platform Bed from Pottery Barn kids. I will admit that I was very thrown by how low to the ground it is. However, some googling helped me realize that low beds are popular for modern homes. Mazen liked the height, and I love that it doesn’t need any kind of bed skirt.

Perhaps the BEST part is that because it’s low to the ground, I was able to re-use his twin bed pick-stitch quilt and duvet. Sure they are a smidge short, but I think a full quilt would be on the ground! I did upgrade his sheets to full and got my favorite Target Performance set.

We are all very happy with the upgrade!
