My Wrist

Smells SO INCREDIBLE!

The cologne I put on at Banana Republic yesterday is still going strong. I’ve been snuggling up to my wrist since I left the store! Unfortunately I don’t remember which kind it was. I think Cordovan? Must buy this for my husband!

Smoothie in a Bowl -

IMG_6066 (640x427) (2)

My smoothies are all so different. Some are liquidy and sloshy, others are more like pudding. This guys was thick, gritty and too sweet! But I still slurped him down. Also, to make smoothies more winter-friendly, leaving out the frozen goods was fun. I just used fresh foods plus milk and it was closer to room temp and didn’t leave me freezing! But maybe the missing ice was why it was too sweet?

IMG_6062 (640x427) (2)

The Mix

  • 1 small banana
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp water (an effort to dilute the sweetness a bit)
  • 1/4 cup raw rolled oats
  • 2 tbsp Vega Tropical Mix N Go from the HLS swag bag
  • Small blob of Madison‘s pecan – walnut butter
  • Granola on top
  • Tropical Traditions Peanut Coconut Butter drizzle, which does not magic shell nearly as well as Artisana’s

IMG_6060 (640x427) (2)

Coffee, coffee, buzz buzz buzz

IMG_6067 (640x427) (2)

I’ve got multiple things on my list today and must be efficient to get them all done! We’re leaving first thing in the morning tomorrow for a 4-day trip, so that means packing is required as well.

Almost the weekend!

When I use fresh bananas in smoothies the flavor and sweetness is way more pronounced, so that’s probably why yours was so sweet.

i dont know if i would enjoy a SIAB… but I have really gotten into yogurt w/ mashed up banana layered w/ apples for crunch almonds & raisins.. Only probably is that it only hold me over for about 3 hours.. idk what else i could throw in for more staying power

Perhaps some complex carbohydrates? Oats or something similar for a longer glycemic index. Or more yogurt or more fat!

I almost always leave out the ice cubes anymore! If I add enough fruit/veg to make it thick, I don’t need the ice, plus they still stay nice n thick..Yours always look so yummy though too!

The small campus is just like my the college in my hometown, Centre College! I really liked the students and their academic motivation. My family stayed in the guest house, which was super cute! To top off the experience, the fall weather was perfect on Thursday. 🙂 A handwritten letter was even mailed to my house the same day of my visit.
Davidson is obviously an excellent choice. For me, the small size is the biggest con.

P.S. The dining houses! 🙂 Were you a part of one?

Glad you liked it! It didn’t feel NEARLY as small as it technically is. I was in Warner Hall but also Connor my freshman year. The best part of Davidson for me was the academics – the profs are outstanding and I still long to go back and sit through some of the great discussions we had in classes.

I only use ice in smoothies if it’s really cold out, and where we live (western MA), that doesn’t happen too often.

Could the sweetness have been from the tropical Vega? Just the name sounds like it could be a bit sweet…

And maybe all the “tropical” stuff in your smoothie made it too sweet?

Might have been the tropical vega? I found it to taste really sweet! I just made curried millet last night and it was delish! Just love the texture of millet. If you want the smoothie slightly colder – like fridge cold – not freezer cold – freeze your bananas! 🙂 It works great and won’t give you a brain freeze.

Do you think the lack of “magic shellness” was caused by the warmer bowl temperature? Or have you noticed it with previous bowls with that brand?

Also, Kath’s readers – if you’ve made your own coconut butter, have you found that the homemade kind has the magic shell quality?
