Here’s a bit of life lately!
Make Like A Tree And Leave
Some of you are already putting up Christmas trees, but I am still very focused on fall leaves! (I am from the camp that Christmas starts the day Thanksgiving ends!! Although, I will permit light holiday music during the month of November 🙂 )
Halloween Encore Party
In fact, Halloween extended into November for us! Since Oct 31 was on a Friday, Saturday Nov 1 we celebrated two of our friends’ birthdays with a belated Halloween bash. And BOY did these women go all out with the decorations and theme.
All the food was black and orange
I donned the Moonbeam Ice Cream costume one final time. This version had a sparkle shirt instead of the full sequin dress.
DJ Skelly had the beats down.
Kings Dominion
On the final day of Halloween weekend, I went with some friends to the last day of Kings Dominion’s Halloween season.
Beware of the clowns!
We rode all the big coasters, except poor Sean who was terrified!
Biscuit Run Hike
We have been loving the new-ish Biscuit Run park south of Cville. It’s so close, and the Foothills Loop (the smaller one) is a perfect hour that kids can do. We joined a few of our kid friends for a Sunday hike on the perfect warm November day!
Some kids had to be carried : )
Flying 1
Birch and I had the craziest funny thing happen when a shiny red #1 balloon floated over our heads just above the tree line as we were resting on the trampoline. We followed it over our house and well into the sky until we couldn’t see it anymore. Such an random thing to float by.
Harry Potter Potions
If you have a Potter-loving kid, this potions set has been a huge hit! The floating spiders and glitter are great, and it’s easy enough B can do it on his own.
He is also learning a few film songs on the piano, and we’re going to try to keep the musical interest going! (And maybe get a real keyboard if you have any suggestions for a beginner one, OR if you live in Cville and have one that is collecting dust!)
Say Spaaaaaaaah
I got a gift card to Keswick Spa for my birthday and loved spending the day with Jen, who got one for her birthday (last January! Ha!) We saunaed, showered, lounged, and got facials.
If you’re looking for an at-home facial, Counter has a lot of new products that just launched, including the popular AHA mask. There’s also a serum sampler to pick your favorite (or use them all!) and the hand cream holiday set is back as a universally loved gift for all ages. (And of course the Jellies – my favorite!)
Kath Eats Real Food
Some eats! I decided I was tired of green smoothies everyday, so I’ve branched out to other breakfasts!

Try Hoffman academy online for piano!! A fraction of the cost of private lessons. It engaging and fun. You can try the classes for free then I think it’s worth paying for premium. I have two girl who have learned to play they are three years in it’s awesome. Craigslist a keyboard for sure.

Would love a post on where you are with drinking. Enjoyed your posts on reducing alcohol and I think it has been a while, so would be curious about an update!

Good topic idea! I’m still trying to stick to 2-3 days a week and having seltzer, SIX, or nothing on the other days.

What is the dipping sauce that you have with the chicken thigh meal at the end? Looks soooo good!
Kath Younger says
It’s greek yogurt and hot sauce (cholula) with salt and pepper. SO GOOD and easy!!
