Lunch or Second Lunch or Snack or First Dinner

Now I know the real reason women don’t fly late in pregnancy … there isn’t much more space for the baby to go!

2012-06-07 12.37.23

My flight was long, cramped, but OK. Just a little late. I spent the time reading the first half of this book, which I thoroughly enjoyed  because the ideology is based in evolution, which is how I think.

2012-06-07 11.33.03

I feel like I’ve been eating all day but haven’t felt full yet! My flight was a little delayed and I didn’t want to leave the gate, but I was freezing and hungry so I got some blueberry banana oatmeal from the McD’s across the aisle. It warmed me right up and helped tide me to lunch (second lunch?) but I did not like how sweet it was. I was expecting plain oats with blueberries and banana but instead this was sugary instant oatmeal. Too sweet. For real.

I also only got about 5 blueberries!

2012-06-07 10.30.37

An hour later I was starving again for lunch and did my best to wait until take off to dive into this salad. I was thrilled to find a chef’s salad without deli meat or onions at Cibo. Disappointed in my egg serving, but it tasted AMAZING! I also hadn’t had ranch dressing in ages, and it was quite good! Hunger is the best sauce!

Had Food Should Taste Goods on the side!

Airport shuttle –> cheap and convenient

2012-06-07 14.52.24

Starving again, I unpacked a Larabar Uber from my bag for the transport. I no longer accept products for formal review, but some companies somehow find my address and still send things anyways. So as far as my opinion goes, I like original Larabars much better. The texture on this was chunky nuts and things glued together with brown rice syrup – it blended in with 100 other bars out there. But I love Larabar origs!!

Hotel heaven!

Camera survived being checked!! Whew!

These are perhaps the best smelling hotel products I have ever smelled!!

I’m ready for my East Coast Dinner – something filling this time!

Harvey Karp. Literally the baby whisperer. My first was colicky and we spent about 2 weeks walking the hallways and bouncing and driving in the car and pacing and crying (me and daddy too!) before someone suggested Happiest Baby on the Block. LIFECHANGING. No joke. And yes, when it’s 2am and you manage to get your baby to calm down and sleep after screaming forever, that is seriously life changing. So you’ve read the book and that is fantastic! BUT I highly suggest you seek out the video from your library (or a generous shower attendee) to watch while in the throes of baby crying. Seeing him actually DO the swaddle is different than reading it. Though, I remember seeing a swaddle practice you posted that Matt did on one of the bears and I think he’s got it! My hubby was the master swaddler in our house. Anyway, That 5 S’s technique came in handy a million times throughout three children. Good read! As a side note- I was not as impressed with Happiest Toddler on the Block.

I agree, the dvd is much more helpful. I don’t think I would have been shaking vigorously enjoy of shhing loud enough without it. This worked for both of my babies too! We used the miracle blanket for our kids once they got too strong for a swaddling blanket, and my parents thought we were torturing our kids in a straight jacket. Funny how different generations do different things.

I adore the feeling when you’re really really hungry and you eat something (like salad with ranch dressing), and it tastes 10x better. Nothin’ like it! I thought Rose 31 was a “higher” end hair line, surprised to see it in a hotel assortment.

Welcome to Seattle! Just started following your blog earlier this year and have been so envious of your great warm weather posts back east- especially how far along your garden is compared to mine! Hopefully our soggy, cold “Juneuary” weather here in the emerald city doesn’t scare you off this weekend. Enjoy the coffee, great restaurants and exploring pike place between Blogher events- and bring Matt back some good microbrews- nothing like a hoppy IPA from the PNW as a souvenir :). Have fun!

I got certified to teach The Happiest Baby on the Block techniques because I have found it SO helpful in my postpartum doula and newborn coaching business! I also had the pleasure of meeting Dr Karp last year and hearing him speak…he is such a dynamic person 🙂 (BTW–I highly suggest getting the DVD also. Most parents watch it numerous times once the baby gets here in order to master the techniques!). I have a few extra DVD’s at my house–email me at [email protected] and I can get one to you. Consider a shower gift 😉

Oh and I couldn’t believe the crap McDonald’s managed to shove into good ‘ol oatmeal when I read the ingredients! They seem to be able to “crapify” just about any food LOL
