Love & Marriage (And Cake!)

The wedding was beautiful and fun. I’ll let the photos do most of the talking:

After some fun hanging out at the hotel, we boarded a bus to the ceremony. It was a looong ride and I was thirsty so I had some of Matt’s water –

IMG_7980 (1024x768)

We made it to the church on time –

IMG_7984 (1024x768)

IMG_7982 (1024x768)

IMG_7981 (1024x768)

I DO

IMG_7986 (1024x768)

It is HOT here!! We got on the bus to head to the reception and it was nice and cool, but when you step back outside the humidity hits you like a wall

IMG_7987 (1024x768)

The reception was beautifully decorated

IMG_7988 (1024x768)

IMG_8006 (1024x768)

IMG_8009 (1024x768)

The table cards were also menus!

IMG_7990 (1024x768)

IMG_7991 (1024x768)

My thirst was finally quenched with some Perrier!! I wasn’t interested in alcohol at this point

IMG_7989 (1024x768)

Hors d’oeuvres

IMG_7992 (1024x768)

Matt and I shared this plate. My greek salad lunch actually held me over wonderfully and I wasn’t even that hungry 5 hours later, but I had a few cheeses because they are delicious and a cracker or two.

IMG_7997 (1024x768)

IMG_7999 (1024x768)

And passed – had one of these and turned down several more

IMG_7996 (1024x768)

I finally got a glass of wine when it seemed we were approaching being seated for dinner

IMG_8000 (1024x768)

IMG_8002 (1024x768)

Table 6 was the “rowdy frat bros” table in the back

 this !

IMG_8008 (1024x768)

Derby Salad – a tradition here

IMG_8014 (1024x768)

My wine glass was refilled when I had only drank half, so this isn’t as much as it seems more

IMG_8015 (1024x768)

I had a fluffy roll and shared it with Matt

IMG_8041 (1024x768)

The entree was a Petit Filet with Shrimp, Potatoes and Veggies.

IMG_8044 (1024x768)

And after. I left most of the beef and taters

IMG_8045 (1024x768)

First dance during dinner

IMG_8017 (1024x768)

The love of my life!!

IMG_8011 (1024x768)

IMG_8010 (1024x768)

IMG_8028 (1024x768)

Happy for cake

IMG_8036 (1024x768)

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IMG_8047 (1024x768)

That would be Cookies n Cream Oreo filling!! MMMMM! Excellent buttercream.

IMG_8046 (1024x768)

Matt was out in the ballroom and brought me a piece not knowing that we’d been served. We both ate the filling and icing off of it (neither of us like the “bread” part as we call it)

IMG_8048 (1024x768)

And a friend gave me the icing he rejected when I raved about it

IMG_8049 (1024x768)

So I ate a good amount of icing, but not much “cake”

IMG_8050 (1024x768)

Having had 2 drinks, I moved on to club sodas

IMG_8051 (1024x768)

We did a lot of dancing next –

IMG_8025 (1024x768)

I felt pretty good about my eating for the evening (you guys know how much special events are my weakness!)

Until the late-night cookie favors came out!

IMG_8053 (1024x768)

I ate half of the bride and half of the groom over the course of two hours. Not the healthiest way to end the night!

We didn’t get home until 1AM after an hour long bus ride and were totally exhausted. I fell asleep instantly.

Congrats to Clare and Dover and thanks for the wonderful wedding!!!

What an awesome photo montage! My favorite ones: You with the “water”, the flower bouquets in a row (well done), the roll with buttah – cmon that looks SO delicious.. show it to me anytime and i will salivate (gross? sorry) – and the wedding cake photo where the cake is a little to the left in the picture. very pretty.

You should add photographer onto your list of expertise areas!

Cookie’s N’ Cream filling in a wedding cake? That’s my kind of couple! That cake looks like it must have been awesome, mostly because it seems loaded with frosting. Yum

What a beautiful reception! My husband has such a love of wedding cake, that every year for his birthday I order a small top tier wedding cake from our local bakery – there is just something about the cake and frosting on wedding cakes – so good!

    Glad you had fun!

Girl after my own heart! Leaving the “bread” and eating other people’s icing instead. I do that all the time…then I get a sugar stomachache and curse myself, but I’m guessing you didn’t do that part of it 😉

Looks like a LOVELY wedding! I have 3 weddings to go to this summer, and I can’t wait!

Cookies and cream icing!!!! I’m usually into the “bread” verses icing, but I think I would have made an exception for cookies and cream. The bride and groom cookies were adorable, too!

I love the description “rowdy frat boy table” – my hubby wasn’t in a frat, but get him and his friends together and you have one loud bunch!

Looks like you had a blast – enjoy the rest of your weekend!

    Kath–
Totally random question… if it is too personal, you don’t have to answer. Did you change your name? It looked like you might not have. Did Matt have an issue with it at first? My boyfriend really wants me to change my name but I don’t really see the need to. Just thought that you might have some insights that you could share!

    You looked great last night!

    rhodeygirl ,
They links are Geoffryy Been. I think they were a gift to my grandpa and he gave them to me to give to Matt?

    Monica ,
No, I didn’t change my name. I was going to hyphenate, but when it came down to it, that felt the same as changing altogether. I have been Katherine Younger my whole life and really didn’t see why getting married meant I had to change my identity. I am still myself, husband or not!! Thankfully Matt was 100% supportive and said “I wouldn’t want to change my name, so I don’t know why you would want to change yours.” It hasn’t ever been a problem, although we don’t know what we’re going to do with future kids yet…

    Vince ,
Taking photos is such a conversation starter!

I changed my name because 1) easier for the kids and 2) I think it is an honor to be his “Mrs.” Old fashioned I guess.

So, how can you be Mrs. Younger? Silly etiquette thing but aren’t you Ms. or Miss Younger? Another thing, here in Ohio they don’t use Miss if they use your first name. They would call you Mrs. Kath instead of the southern Miss Kath. It makes my southern ears bleed when they do that.
