Life In A Box

Foodblog-5220

We had our neighbors over for dinner last night! Company always makes for a fun Monday : ) What normally would be a boring night turns into a celebration with wine and dessert!

Foodblog-5228

M and V had a great time playing in the big box that our Home Decorators stuff came in! Hours of entertainment.

Foodblog-5221

Matt and I made a Cook Smarts dinner – chicken thighs with rice (which I pesto-fied instead of pilafed) and cabbage. The cabbage was a lovely delicious surprise with great garlicky flavor! Cook Smarts recommended lemon and greek yogurt, and they were great additions to the meal.

Foodblog-5234

We put the kiddos in their jammies while we ate chocolate and Scottish shortbread for dessert!

Foodblog-5239

This morning Mazen and I dined on scrambled eggs (which he requested and then wouldn’t touch) with toast and fruit. Blueberries and Pomegranate arils!

Aren’t kids the funniest? Mine requests lots of food and then refuses to eat it. The food waste conscious part of me cringes every time it happens. Luckily I don’t mind eating an extra PB sandwich or egg every now and then 😉 You’re breakfast looks amazing as usual!

Ahhh… the days when all you need is a box. Those are fun for adults too. 🙂

It’s so refreshing to know other toddlers ask for things and then refuse them. Does your M throw tantrums about it like my M? Some days…she asks for a banana, I confirm she wants a banana, hold it up and she jumps up and down, “Yes yes BEENA!!” And then I peel it and all of a sudden she’s throwing herself on the floor crying real tears screaming “NO BEENA NO BEENA!” Oh, toddlers.

Yes….and a lot of the time it’s because I peeled it wrong or smiled whIle I peeled it!

This made me laugh so hard! ha! have you guys checked out the honest toddler’s twitter feed? Hilarious running commentary from the eyes of a toddler about injustices such as that. Like being served toast the wrong way, having to behave in “no touch” stores, being subjected to “terrible” dinners, etc.

That is the cutest thing and totally brought back memories of my own childhood — I remember begging my mom to make me a castle out of a big box we had at the house from something that was delivered… and she actually did! I thought it was the coolest thing ever. 🙂

Haha, o my gosh! Years ago when my brother and I were little and we had just gotten our new family desktop computer, it came in a massive box like that. We played in that thing for hours! Haha, so much imaginative fun!

Isn’t it awesome when the kids ask for something and as soon as it’s prepared and put in front of them they want nothing to do with it? You just have to laugh! And then eat whatever it is yourself. 🙂

Honestly, if I had a box I could play it, I’d probably find it almost equally entertaining. What that says about me, I’m not sure…
