End-of-summer pics and fun!

You know what they say: time flies when you’re having fun! August has been a flurry of fun and logistics, per usual.
The above caprese sandwiches were from Ivy’s birthday party at Afton Mountain Vineyards! I love a good “cheese for dinner” night 🙂

Ivy did not advertise a black-and-white theme, but many of us came dressed in black and white!

And then a few weeks later, we went to Starry Nights at Veritas and everyone was dressed in flowy linen.

Tell me you like cheese without telling me 😉

Birch joined the pack of kids in a soccer game and had a BLAST! He’s always been shy with new people, but our neighbors roped him in and he was so happy! Unfortunately we left early when the lightning storm sent everyone to their cars.

Speaking of our neighbors, the boys are settling into the neighborhood nicely and have finally cracked into the pack of kids who roam around every day. Mazen is one of the oldest by quite a bit, but I’m glad he can still sometimes participate as “king of the swings.”

We love visiting the farm next door, and it is SO CUTE to see the donkeys jog over. They’re so funny when they trot! They’re always eager for a mouthful of grass.

Now that all the summer travel has dwindled, all the playdates have started! B had three playdates last weekend, and he’s at the perfect age where they don’t need as much supervision. It’s almost relaxing!

You know the Mega Oreos with 4x the cream? I had some leftover from a movie night, and we love to crush them into vanilla ice cream. It’s better than regular cookies n cream because they are crunchy – trust me!

After we eat our Oreo dessert, we have “read to self” time. This is a phrase coined at school, and I love it! I’ve been reading my Kindle while B uses a book light to read his book of the week. I highly recommend a book light for kids.

I went to the dentist for a cleaning. I don’t remember the dentist being this bad when I was growing up, but gosh it hurts so much when they dig into my gums!!

Luckily, it’s over soon-ish. I still can’t decide if I’m going to do the other side of my mouth for gum graft #2.

I got some of the new Grow Fragrance Autumn line candles, and combined with our cooler mornings, I can feel fall around the corner! The new Flannel and Leaves scent is great!

Kath Eats Real Food
Oatmeal FTW!

Birch and I made a batch of these muffins, and they were our breakfasts all week.

I am obsessed with NOK108 matcha at the farmers market. I got the lavender milk with fresh matcha and vanilla cold foam. It was my dream post-workout drink! They also have the chicest food truck ever.

Lunches
Empty fridge = eggs + herbs!

Good ole sardine salad! I have this at least once a week, sometimes twice, sometimes with salmon or trout. Loved this flavor of Fishwife!

How I ate it:

Al Carbon leftovers for lunch the next day. I put the last of my queso on the tacos – so good!

Here’s the dinner version. LOVE Al Carbon, its yuca fries, and all the sauce!

Orzo salad at Veritas. I made it with pesto, spinach, peppers, lemon, herbs, and lots of pecorino.

I made teriyaki salmon bites in the air fryer setting on my Wonder Oven and LOVED THEM! I never want to eat salmon as a fillet again!

Sheet pan dinner with chicken, veggies, potatoes, and my favorite yogurt sauce.

And last but not least: a Blue Apron dinner that inspired all the cauliflower, herbs, and sauces this month!
