In With The Old

It’s not out with the old, in with the new.

It’s in with the old!

I BOUGHT CLEATS!! Someone else’s soccer cleats for $8. Score!!! They fit perfectly.

IMG_1879 (480x640)

Play It Again Sports was awesome!

IMG_1877 (640x480)

Rollerblades anyone?!

IMG_1878 (480x640)

I also bought a soccer BALL! For 5 bucks! I am hoping that the free play that goes on near my house will be a good match. Worst case I’ll find a buddy to kick around with. Maybe talk our friends into playing.

We tried Goodwill first for soccer gear with no luck, but I did find this awesome Banana Republic microfiber purse for $3!

IMG_1892 (640x480)

Surprisingly, a 6-year break and a foot surgery did not affect my touch, which came back quickly –

IMG_1886 (480x640)IMG_1891 (480x640)        IMG_1888 (480x640) IMG_1885 (480x640) IMG_1884 (480x640)

Matt and I played around in the yard for 15 minutes when we got home. Unfortunately he finds passing the ball back and forth rather boring :(  Anyone wanna play with me!?

While out buying sports equipment (he got a frisbee!) we also made a trip to EarthFare for groceries and I had a snack when we got home (plus a few sample nibbles at the store). I even managed to get a little work done for about an hour.

Oikos (coupon!) + ota.bar + the very last of my delicious Charlottesville Raspberry Rhubarb Ginger jam.

IMG_1880 (480x640)

Then we headed to Brixx to meet our friends!

IMG_1894 (640x480)

Amelia + Kevin were visiting from Charleston 🙂 Wish they lived here all the time.

IMG_1896 (640x480)

Caitlin + Jason // Diana + Dan

IMG_1898 (640x480) IMG_1895 (640x480)

I skipped the first round but once we were seated I dove into the beer sampler: A Nut Brown from Myrtle Beach, Carolina Strawberry Blonde, Sam Summer, Mecktoberfest (a Charlotte beer!)

IMG_1893 (640x480)

I got the spinach salad for the bulk of my dinner. Swapped feta for goat cheese and opted for no croutons

IMG_1902 (640x480)

Matt got the bruschetta and I had a wedge. Brixx makes the BEST bruschetta!!!!!!!!!!!! It’s how I learned to like tomatoes back in college 🙂

IMG_1900 (640x480)

Matt and I also split a pizza, although I had little less than half. Spicy Shrimp (the best!) and Rustico –

IMG_1905 (640x480)

IMG_1904 (640x480)

Caitlin traded us a slice of Hawaiian for a Spicy Shrimp. Another one of my favs.

IMG_1906 (640x480)

After dinner we went outside to listen to music and I just happened to notice there was a Coldstone nearby. The Huntersville Brixx near Davidson also had a Coldstone next door – I used to drink a beer, eat a salad + a whole pizza and get a big Coldstone every Friday night in college sophomore year! Every now and then, you gotta enjoy the good stuff, but every Friday night is a little much. I think Coldstone is the best ice cream in the world and I only go a few times a year. Tonight was one of them!

IMG_1907 (640x480)

I didn’t really need a huge portion though, so Diana and I agreed to share one. Cake Batter + Butterscotch + Oreo. Nothing beats Cake Batter ice crema. Ever.

IMG_1908 (640x480)

Licked it clean!

IMG_1909 (640x480)

‘Twas an awesome night

IMG_1914 (640x480)

Amelia brought me some low country granola bars to enjoy!!! I’m so excited to try them.

IMG_1920 (480x640)

Tomorrow’s plan:

  • Fun breakfast
  • Farmer’s market for produce
  • Run in new shoes with husband
  • Lunch // Work?
  • Matt’s Dad + Cheryl are coming to spend the afternoon/dinner with us

Nite!

That’s such a nice picture of you two. Cool that you found the things you were looking for on the cheap and green (recycled)! Coldstone is a little rich for my taste, but I’m glad to hear you all enjoyed. And those bars look interesting, too!

My husband played soccer in high school and once in a while we go out and try to play, but he’s too good! Hope you find someone or a team to play around with! Sunch good exercise!
Coldstone sounds like a great way to end a special Saturday evening!
    Have a great Sunday!

Play it again sports is a wonderful place! I love being able to get sports equipment to try instead of spending the big bucks on brand new.

I totally agree with you on the cold stone. I love sweet cream with heath bar. I have to be careful and not get it too often. Thank God there isn’t one near here.

That Raspberry Rhubarb Ginger jam sounds delicious in your yogurt! You always create the tastiest food combos. 🙂

Great shopping finds! My brother is an avid ebay seller.. he goes thrifting on weekends to find random items and then sells them online. He makes a lotttt of extra money that way.. which I am very jealous of lol.

Have a great day tomorrow! 🙂 -Shannon

Cake batter ice cream is the BEST! I wanted to share one with my sister last time, but she said it makes her sick 🙁 Did you accidentally link to Caitlin from HTP’s blog under your friend Caitlin’s name? Just wondering – cuz I didn’t see HTP Caitlin in the pics! hehe

Isn’t cake batter ice cream the best!?!? What a great couple of days you’ve been having!

So glad you are getting back into soccer, it’s not a sport that I’m good at but it’s always so much fun to play anyway!

I agree, cake batter ice cream is the best! I like it with a fudge swirl and cake chunks. Since I can’t eat dairy or gluten anymore, I guess I better figure out how to make my own!

Great find at Play It Again! I wish I was good at soccer because it always looks really fun. Alas, I am the most uncoordinated person ever and am not good at team sports. Hence, why I stick to running.

Wow, what an awesome dinner! (especially the Cold Stone–an old fav).

Do you prefer goat cheese over feta, or did you switch it out because it’s slightly better for you?

    Happy weekend!

My boyfriend and I bought a soccer ball in the beginning of summer. I don’t think our neighbors appreciated our frequent games in our living room. We kicked the ball against the wall a number of times.

I’ll come play soccer! I used to play back in the day – until I broke my leg from a slide tackle. Then I switched to tennis ;).

I love beer samplers – my husband and I had a friend up to Boston yesterday and we had plans to go to the Harpoon Brewery… alas, tours were sold out for the day. I’ve heard the tour is about 15 minutes, and the beer tasting is 30 minutes – sounds like an appropriate ratio to me!

Dinner and dessert look amazing! I also love Hawaiian pizza, but have never tried cake batter ice cream. There is a Cold Stone right near my gym, so perhaps an after-workout treat sometime soon?
