Gotta Run

And run we did! Up with the sunrise and although we were slow to get out of our warm bed, we finally headed off into the most beau-ti-ful morning. We intended to run a quick 4 miles, but somehow we chose a route that was closer to 6, which is why I am now late.

A quick yogurt parfait!

IMG_6163 (640x427)

Layers of pear, pumpkin yogurt (Oikos mixed with 1/3 cup pumpkin and cinnamon), and Nature’s Path Maple Crunch Cereal (a sample from the veg fest).

Plus chia seeds, peach ginger jam and a tbsp of heavy cream!

IMG_6161 (640x427)

The Maple Crunch cereal was OK – I think I would have liked it better with milk.

3 passengers (Karen is driving with us). 5 hours to Charlotte. 6 pairs of shoes.

Gotta run!

I also think the Maple Crunch is better with milk – I had it with vanilla yogurt once but it needed to be a little soggier (as gross as that sounds!) Have a safe trip 🙂

I had this long standing joke with a guy I used to date. He liked to surprise me by taking me places he thought I might find interesting–and he didn’t like to give me ANY information about where we were going.

The problem is it could be anything, a restaurant, a cute downtown shopping area in a small town, a hiking trail…….this made it difficult to plan what I was going to wear!

So when he came up with an idea my question was always, “What time are you picking me up? And what shoes should I wear?”

What could be worse than being somewhere with the wrong shoes?! Hiking in high heels? Fancy restaurant in sneakers? Not for me!

I am also known to stuff pairs into nooks and crannies in the car before road trips. “Look how lightly I packed! Everything in one bag!” …haha

      <3 shoes!

I hate packing shoes. Come to think of it, the only shoes I like packing AND wearing are my running shoes.
My bags are always so filled and heavy as well. I really wish I could be a light weight packer.

My parents have some friends who travel to Europe…prepare yourself for this… they pack a change of under clothes, buy some clothes while on vacation, then return them. PLEASE don’t think my parents WOULD EVER condone such a thing (but their friends are very sweet people, all bet it a bit eccentric…) The thought of doing such a thing makes me cringe.

Ever known someone who buys an outfit for one event then returns it?

That has never crossed my mind! I am terrified of a story denying me of a return and then being stuck with an item. (If I thought it was also OK too!)

Yum, that looks great! I bet you got a lot more flavor from the heavy cream this morning versus when you put it in your oats, right? I don’t know why its so taboo to eat cream. The nutritional stats aren’t even bad! (and I prefer them SO much over the ingredients in other creamers for coffee and stuff like that).

    SAFE TRAVELS!

That looks really good! Though I have to say I just got a bunch of Nature’s Path samples – cereal, bars and such – but for a “healthy” brand the sugar in the ingredient lists are just too much for me to be happy about. I like Uncle Sam’s 🙂

    Hi Kath,
I have a question. Do you eat breakfast before or after your short runs (3-5miles?) I am trying to drop some pounds and I don’t want to overeat. I heard that if you run on an empty stomach you burn more fat? Please let me know…I need help!
    Thanks

I often have a date or half a banana before I go, assuming I get up and go pretty quickly. Then I have a full breakfast upon my return. And welcome to KERF!
