Give Energy To Get Energy

WOW, I feel so.much.better.

Guess why?

IMG_3009edited

Matt told me he wanted to go running. I agreed to go, with the caveat that I would probably not be very speedy and our run might turn into a walk. Surprisingly, we had a great run. I had to walk up a few super steep hills, but overall, the run energized me more than anything!

IMG_3011edited

Same with this swingin’ lunch –

IMG_3014edited

IMG_3016edited

What goes better with turkey than cranberry sauce? Pumpkin butter! And sharp cheddar!

IMG_3020edited

Open-faced on toasted high five fiber. Awesomeness.

IMG_3022edited

Plus a side of carrots and an orange

IMG_3017edited IMG_3019edited

More hot lime water!

I’ve got to shower, and have a few errands to run. And then we’re going to Karen’s for a dinner party tonight! We’ve actually got evening plans for the next 4 nights. Guess that’s pretty exciting!

I’ve done turkey, cran sauce, and a sharp cheese before…but never with the pumpkin butter. Then again, I have yet to try pumpkin butter. It’s a sad thing. I know.

Glad your run felt good! I just found out last night will have to be the last workout of my pregnancy and I’m already missing that workout energy high. 🙁

You’re so right about giving energy to get energy. I think that applies not just in physical activity but in our mental or emotional lives as well. Sometimes, it’s difficult to get started in something, but a little momentum really really helps.

Yep– the days where I MOST don’t have the energy for working out tend to be the ones where I MOST need the workout for energy! Funny, isn’t it? 🙂

Good for you! Working out is sooo hard to do when you’re tired, but I always find if I can make myself “just do it” that my focus and energy are much improved in the afternoon.

I LOVE when runs turn out better than I expected. That’s the best…and also a reason to always go out for “just 15 minutes” even when you think it’s not going to go well.

    Kath,

I would love it if you could post about how your eating has changed over the years. I have been an avid reader of yours for a while. Mainly lurker. haha. but its crazy how you went from counting every calorie to what seems like to me just enjoying food in moderation. how did you change your mindset?

    Thanks!

I think it was just a matter of me moving from a weight loss mindset to a maintenance mindset. Learning by example of myself to let go and trust that the things I learned during my weight loss would become automatic. Reading books like Superfoods and Intuitive Eating also had a big impact on the way I eat. I’ve always celebrated food – calorie counting or not – so it was just a gradual release of that tool when I realized I didn’t really need it anymore.

I also wonder if blogging is like therapy!? I think the wonderful acceptance and support of the blogging community is partly to credit. This is such a great place to be to show, tell and learn how fun and enjoyable healthy eating really is.

I know you run with a Forerunner 405 and I was wondering if you could give me your thoughts on the Forerunner line – which one is best and which one is of the best value? I want to put one on my Christmas list but have no idea which one to choose – there are so many! Thanks for your input.

I have the 305 and it’s the only one I have any experience with. I love it! I THINK the 205 is less and doesn’t have the heart rate monitor feature, which I never use anyways, so I bet you could just get that one.

Hm, I don’t think that swearing and calling names like that was appropriate here; I think you might want to look in the mirror when you call other people that for no reason. This was totally unnecessary and unrelated. Who are you to say what Kath’s public understands or not? Actually, I’m Dutch and I didn’t know the word. So I went to look it up and I learned something new. I must be sooo stupid.
