Full House

I feel like we’re running a boarding house 🙂 People in every corner!

[So bear-like… ;)]

We picked up something like 7 loaves of Great Harvest bread yesterday. Karen brought a handful from the Charlotte store and Pablo gave us a few from Warrenton. We of course had to make French toast for breakfast!

Matt cold-brewed some iced last night. He just put 1/3 a cup of grounds in with 40 oz of cold water and refrigerated it unpressed overnight. Turned out great. Just requires a bit of forethought!

We also made a few coffee cubes one day. I put some in with my milk and poured

Looks kind of gross with that black cube!

Not that I’ve ever heard of! The caffeine MAY have a few good and bad effects depending on the person, and I’ve read that french press coffee MAY raise cholesterol if you are prone to high cholesterol in general, but coffee has antioxidants and is probably pretty good for you!

    Hi Kath!

I’m curious what your take is on too much sugar in the diet? I have a few friends that are lowering their sugar/carb intake from Jorge Cruise’s diets. I tend to eat way more than the 15 grams that they’re limited to per day, since I eat jam, oatmeal, lots of fruit, etc. I’m just wondering if you have an opinion on the health pros/cons of this.

Love your blog – thanks so much for all of your inspiration!

I think if it’s natural sugar from fruit, natural sources (milk, yogurt) or even a little in jam it’s perfectly fine. Sugar from sweetened yogurts, cookies, in coffee/tea, sugary drinks adds up and is probably not the best health choice.

Wow! Warrenton! You were def. in my neck of the woods today. We went to a nice wine bar in Warrenton for Valentine’s Day this year. It was called the Iron Bridge Wine Company if you ever come back up.

Happy Anniversary to your parents! I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a more fruit-filled and fresh-looking french toast!

you can make iced coffee by using the iced coffee maker. My BF got me one. It’s kinda like a jar, but there’s this contraption, like a removable filtet where u insert your coffee and put it in the fridge overnight. pretty good as well! Slightly diff then french press. But as good!
