Festival Of Orange

Boy is my right arm killing me!! Those 3 shots all plunged deep into my bulging shoulder muscle and now I can barely lift my arm. So today’s workout was cycle class – lower body only! It’s hard to tell (because it may be psychological) but I may have a mild case of typhoid

this !
, the primary symptom being a slight headache, so I kept cycle very easy and just pedaled for 45 minutes.

I considered breakfast options during cycle:

  • Cereal with soy milk
  • Cereal with yogurt
  • Yogurt with pumpkin + cereal
  • BREAD
  • Oatmeal

When I got home I said to myself: What do you want to eat? I had no idea! I actually had enough time to make oatmeal and had the pot out and everything, but then at the last minute I decided that we have TONS of bread right now and I should have that. So breakfast turned into PB + B Toast!

IMG_2256 (1024x768)

Two slices of GH High Five Fiber with 1/2 a large mashed banana, 2 kinds of PB and walnuts. I put Naturally More on one slice and TJ’s PB on the other. I absolutely LOVE mashed banana on toast compared to banana slices, which always have that sliding out effect on me. And it’s sweeter when it’s mashed!

IMG_2255 (1024x768)

Then came the Festival Of Orange – (and I’m wearing an orange shirt!)

IMG_2259 (1024x768)

IMG_2258 (1024x768) IMG_2257 (1024x768)

Plus a chandelier frothy coffee (just for Charlie!)

IMG_2254 (1024x768)

I had my doubts, but this breakfast ended up being very filling. And PB + B toast is one of the best foods on earth. Hopefully it’ll carry me through to noon.

I’m off to play with fruits and veggies in Food Lab. Then I’ll be studying all afternoon and working on some Clinical case studies. I may get my hair cut up to my shoulders this weekend – I’ve got a mullet!

i could NOT figure out what i wanted for breakfast this morning either. usually i have an immediate craving for either cereal, yogurt, oatmeal/oat bran, ezekiel english muffin, or toasted flax waffles (my main breakfast go-tos, with toppings of course, which very often include almond butter & banana), but today i had no idea. finally settled on a combo.

    Kath,
I know just how you feel! I had these similar shots last year when I traveled abroad… I don’t know if I should say where I went because if it’s the same place, I don’t want to spoil the announcement! lol…

I remember being paranoid about getting sick from them… My arms were sore for a few days and I was like, “uh, is this normal???” ha ha

Watch out for that typhoid shot – mine definitely laid me up for a few days! (Fever, headache, lethargy, etc.) But I guess it’s better than actually getting typhoid somewhere in the bush.

I have been reading your blog, and you have really inspired me! I am not trying to eat “real” food instead of the processed junk that I usually gravitate to when I try to lose weight. I feel so much better for it, and am really making changes in the way my children and I eat. I made my first bowl of “KERF” oatmeal last night! I posted a picture on my blog if you’d like to see it (www.skinnyhollie.com). Thank you so much for taking the time to photograph your meals for folks like me to marvel at!

    seelee live,
The bread is very dense and heavy. 1 small slice is about 1.5 ounces, or 110 calories. The larger loaf slices are closer to 150 calories each. So today’s breakfast was probably close to 225 calories just for the bread. But remember it’s 100% WHOLESOME bread so I’m fine with it being higher per slice than a fluffier whole wheat because it should fill me up with the packed ingredients.
