I bought a $208 Dreame Z30 cordless vacuum and used it daily for a month. Here’s my honest take — what I love, what I don’t, and if it’s worth it.
Cordless vacuums are a total must for everyday cleaning, especially with three sets of stairs in this house. I’ve had Dyson cordless vacuums for a decade. LOVE them. Powerful suction, easy to convert to a hand vac with all the attachments.
Since going out on my own, I’d been making do with a $10 Shark I bought off a neighbor. It was fine, but the head didn’t swivel well and the suction was mid at best. I wasn’t ready to drop $600 on a new Dyson though. Then I saw another blogger rave about the Dreame Z30, looked it up, and found it for $208 on Prime Day. I bought it on the spot. A month of daily use later — crumbs, porch furniture, full car detailing — here’s what I think.

What’s Included + Features
The stand
Instead of a wall mount, this vacuum comes with a stand. I love that there’s no drilling into a wall required, and you can easily relocate it. However, the footprint is a little too big for my laundry room where I wanted to store my vacuum, so I haven’t been able to use the stand. Mine’s been leaning against the dryer for now (see photo). The upside: the charging cord is small and easy to move around, which is more than I can say for a hardwired wall mount. I’m still keeping the stand in case I decide to move it to my downstairs coat or utility closets, or possibly the pantry.
The attachments
I love a vacuum that you can use anywhere, and the assortment of attachments is plentiful!
- Crevice tool — for stairs, car seats, under appliances, and tight cracks
- Pet/motorized brush — deep cleans carpet and pulls hair out of upholstery
- Soft roller head — for hard floors, so you’re not scattering crumbs
- Wall and ceiling brush — cobwebs, baseboards, cars, all the spots I forget about
Three cleaning modes
I believe my Dyson had 2 levels – low and high. This one has three:
- Eco for quick everyday passes. I’d probably only use this on a lot of light dirt/dust that you have a large volume to tackle because it’s quite light suction.
- Max for a real deep clean when you need it. Super charged!!
- Auto a blend of the two. It senses dirt and adjusts power on its own! This is the best for a mix of battery saving and super power. I keep mine on auto most of the time.
The light
There’s a light built into the base of the floor head that lights up dust and dirt as you go. I did not know I needed this until I had it — it’s genuinely one of my favorite features!! So satisfying to see the piles disappear.
The filter and dust cup
HEPA filtration, and the bin pops open with one button for a no-touch empty. No need to remove the stick part to empty it either!
What I Love
The price
$208 versus $600+ for a comparable Dyson is not a small difference. Biggest pro! The Dreame feels as well built and nice as the $600 comp.
The suction
Max mode is legitimately powerful, though it’ll eat your battery fast. I keep mine on Auto almost all the time — it only ramps up when it actually detects more dirt, which saves the battery for the days I need it.
The swivel head
Getting around furniture legs and stair corners is easy. I love the light for darker areas. And it doesn’t get stuck in “standing up” position like my Shark did. You can lift and reposition and it goes right back into swiveling.
The battery display
You can see the exact battery percentage on the handle. My Dyson never had this — I think it’s more standard on newer models now, but it’s a small thing that makes a big difference when you’re planning your cleaning around a charge.
The attachments, again.
I think my Dyson came with 3. This one has seven. I’ve used this to fully detail my car — seats, floor mats, all of it.
Use Report
On Auto mode, the vacuum lasts a long time. I can do all the floors in my house in one charge – 20-30 minutes of straight use – and still have 50% battery left. But for heavy areas when you do need Max suction, the battery lasts 10-15 minutes max. For example, while cleaning out my car I needed Max and the vacuumed died before I finished. So this is something to be aware of!
The Cons
The bin-empty button sits right on the back, and I learned where it was when resting it against something. Dust everywhere. You could call that a user error, but consider yourself warned.
Bottom Line
For $208, the Dreame Z30 does almost everything I loved about my Dyson — strong suction, real attachments, a head that actually swivels — at a third of the price. Highly recommend! If you catch it on sale, it’s worth grabbing.
