Dipping My Toes Into Summer

I just came home from a few days on the Outer Banks with a group of friends. While the weather felt more like March than May, we still got in all the beach vacay highlights: pancakes, walks in the sand, a (frigid) dip in the ocean, a new tan line, rainy afternoon reading, board games, beers in the sunshine, beach games, a low country boil and ice cream.

Looks like a fun trip! That yellow lab looks exactly like my boy, Ryder. Also, you look great with a yellow lab by your side. 😉

I’ve played that game! But in Flemish – we met a Belgian couple while travelling in Brazil and spent an evening playing it with them, with them translating the cards! Brings back great memories. Looks like a wonderful weekend.

Looks like you had a really great time! The food you had looks so delicious! I LOVE that you put potato chips on sandwiches too! I’m a huge fan of kettle chips (especially jalapeño flavored) on ANY sandwich! Thank you for sharing! Have a great weekend!

We love Settlers! It’s all about making sweet trading deals.
And whenever one person ends up with like 5 sheep and nothing else, we refer to them as being “sheep rich” and laugh at their bad luck. All in fun of course. 🙂

Just learning so I have no tips! Upon first observation id say you have to play aggressively. Don’t hold back and wait for the perfect opportunity.

Looks like a great time – relaxing!!! Just curious Kath, how come no pics of you and your girlfriends lately? I thought that addition brought a lot of energy and fun to the blog. I was surprised that you all went away and you didn’t share any shots of the action!

Was just coming down to the comments to ask about this! I’ve also noticed your friends haven’t been featured on the blog recently. Is there a particular reason for this? Either way it looks like you had a fun weekend!

It must be exhausting. No friends? “Where are the friends?!” No mazen? “Where is Mazen?!”
Does it ever make you feel like quitting? Or that you hadn’t shared as much of your personal life from the start?

I really like the design of the “Shower Beer” can, so I tried to find it here in Cleveland, OH. Evidently it’s not sold here =(

I have no idea what a low country boil is. In Texas, we grill it or stick it in a taco. Leftovers always make good chili.

Blueberry pancakes are popular! I discovered this week that if I gently squish the blueberries before adding them to the batter, they don’t burst like little hot bombs when you bite in.

Youch for that sunburn! Glad you had a fun bonding beach vacay with the girls. Always wish I had a group of friends to fly away with every year – sorority or otherwise. It was always big family trips with kids and dogs and more cooking and laundry for me (cue the tiny violin).

Have you tried soaking in the powder oxiclean? I take my boys white baseball pants- fill up the garage sink with hot water and a scoop. Soak overnight, then throw in the washer. No scrubbing. They come out white without a grass or mud stain in sight!! Wish I learned this earlier in their lives

I use the Great Harvest mix, which is whole grain and awesome. Do you have one near you? You can also call our bakery (soon to be someone else’s bakery!) and have them ship you some.
