Cheesecake Slurp

IMG_2246Blog

I think the force is out to get me – the light bulb above my desk just burned out! The earth does not want me to see sun – going on day 3 of rain. BUT – the forecast is awesome!! Sunny + cool!

To that I say, bah!

Smoothie in a bowl! Today’s flavor: Berry Cheesecake

The cottage cheese in this combined with the raw oats gives the smoothie a cheesecake flavor. If only it was truly topped with a graham cracker crust!

IMG_2254Blog

  • 1/4 cup raw oats
  • 1 cup milk
  • Half a frozen banana (or fresh + 2 ice cubes)
  • 3/4 cup frozen berries
  • 1/4 cup low-fat cottage cheese

Blended up in Vita-mix and topped with a Chia Charger disc and coconut

Gingerbread tea

And that’s the end of that chapter!

Your breakfast looks very cheery this morning, but it’s making me very chilly! It’s too cold here for anything other than warm oats for me. Glad your forecast if for sun, it is supposed to be above 30 here today after a high of 20 yesterday. Have a delightful day!

It really surprises me how many people mentioned that they don’t like cottage cheese – I love it! I love it plain (I prefer the stiffer varieties – runny doesn’t do it for me) or it’s tasty to blend it ’til smooth & use it instead of milk/butter in mashed potatoes. I’m sure it’s good blended into a smoothie, too 🙂

Kath, where do you get these chia seeds? Do they have more nutritional value than say flaxseeds? I live in small town, no stores like Whole Foods. More like Kroger and Walmart… 🙂 I have looked in the somewhat small health food sections in these stores and on the cereal isle (that is where I find flaxseed) but I have never seen chia seeds.
