Bed & Breakfast

FoodBlogIMG_2383

Our house smells like a B&B this morning thanks to some delicious cinnamon chip french toast! I must have told 50 people at the market yesterday how good cinna chip is for breakfasts and decided I needed to put my fork where my mouth is!

FoodBlogIMG_2379

I had a long slice and a half cooked in milk, vanilla, egg batter and topped with seared peaches, blackberries and sunflower butter.

FoodBlogIMG_2380

It was quite the stack!

FoodBlogIMG_2385

FoodBlogIMG_2372

Iced coffee mixed with milk tasted like chocolate milk!

FoodBlogIMG_2376

The weather is absolutely PERfect for a walk right now – overcast and 69*! I’m going to take out the latest Fit Pregnancy and get my power walk on!

That looks awesome! I attempted french toast this morning and it did not turn out that great. Could you suggest a recipe? I looked in your Recipage and did not see one there already. I would love some tips!! : )

Sure, for 2 people, I whisk up 2 eggs and add a splash of milk and a splash of vanilla (and often cinnamon). I heat a skillet to medium and then put the bread in the egg for about 30 seconds per side and cook for about 4 minutes per side. It’s more of a technique than a recipe and you can add dry pieces to form a crust too!

Somehow I had this gut ffeeling you were going to have French toast for breakfast and then I checked KERF and there it was! Crazy coincidence! The French toast looks great, I’m overdue to have some, I just need to get the right bread. I’m a sucker for cinnamon raisin or challah – but that cinnamon chip looks great too. Have a great walk this am!

I love our local GH’s high five. Have you ever tried french toasting high five? Also I think you and Matt should get a dog after baby, with how often you guys hike/walk/are out and about one would fit in well.

I am seriously impressed that you are able to walk and read OUTSIDE at the same time. I can’t even run and read on a treadmill. Be careful though-I would think that reading and walking would be just as distracting and dangerous as running with an ipod. Hard to multi-task safely!

that fresh fruit on top looks soooo delicious, as does the bread! Enjoy the weather! I ran a half marathon here in Chicago this weekend and it was humid, but luckily cloudy!

I’m working at a bed & breakfast this summer and can totally relate to waking up to AWESOME aromas of fresh-brewed coffee and a french toast casserole in the oven. It’s one reason I love wakin’ up early for my job!

I’d have to say French Toast is my favorite breakfast food of all time. Nothing else can top it for me. It’s the right texture, flavor, and just the right amount of sweetness. Yum.

That looks awesome and I am so glad I read some reader comments. I assumed it was a pancake and from a mix we can’t get in England. But it’s just French Toast (or what we call “eggy bread”) so i can make some. Yippee 🙂 It looks fabulous and I really like your choice of fruit with it. Have a great day.
