Around The World Of Beer

Popping in to say hi on this lovely Thursday morning! I have a few meals to share – including a fun fall tasting at World of Beer!

Foodblog (2 of 2)

I’ve been using my phone for my round-up of meals for a while now and just recently realized how much better my 5D is (duh!!!) I’m trying to make more of an effort like I used to in the olden days now that Mazen is content during meal times. The above meal was a recent lunch of salad greens, blue cheese and leftover squash plus hickory smoked olive oil and Carolina flake salt. No Bull Burger on top!

Next up – whipped banana egg oatmeal with peanut butter globbed on top. Plus cinnamon, vanilla and chia seeds inside.

Foodblog (18 of 19)

Another salad lunch – greens with olive oil and salt, carrots, a sardine, feta cheese and a yogurt on the side. Also a few peanut butter carrots from Mazen’s plate!

Foodblog (19 of 19)

Pancakes with almond butter drizzle on top –

Foodblog (1 of 1) this !

Dinner at Sarah’s house – smoked turkey quinoa salads and vino

Foodblog (1 of 1)-2 Foodblog (1 of 1)-3

Roasted salmon and blue cheese vegetables (and a glimpse of Mazen’s deconstructed version!)

Foodblog (1 of 2)

And finally – Matt and I were invited to come in to our local World of Beer location for a fall tasting menu experience.

Foodblog (13 of 19)

I am up for trying as many foods as possible in my lifetime!

Foodblog (4 of 19)

We got to sample their Fall Plates & Pints menu, which featured several new dishes for fall and beer pairings to go with.

Our first stop were the Dogfish Head Meatloaf Sliders. They were covered in an amazing sauce made with the Dogfish Head Indian Brown Ale. (I pulled off the onions but loved the rest!)

Foodblog (7 of 19)

Next up the Pimento Cheese Board, which I was all over! Their pimento cheese was whipped and creamy – thumbs up!!

Foodblog (12 of 19)

So good spread on garlicky toast –

Foodblog (15 of 19)

Round three was the Southwest Skillet Cornbread which came with greens on top. The cornbread had sweet corn and roasted peppers embedded throughout and came with a chili lime honey butter on the side. We brought most of this home to have the next day!

Foodblog (11 of 19) Foodblog (10 of 19)

The Habanero Pumpkin Spice Wings were right up Matt’s alley! The pumpkin spices were awesome, but these were SO SPICY!! I could barely handle one 🙂 Matt loved them!

Foodblog (9 of 19)

And finally, we shared the Colorado Chili made with beef, chorizo and red beans. It paired well with a smoky dark beer from Blue Mountain!

Foodblog (8 of 19)

I can’t recall the names of all the beers on our sampler, but they spanned a vast variety of styles – from IPAs to brown ales – and a pumpkin!

Foodblog (5 of 19)

And finally the grande finale – the Belgian Waffle S’mores!!!!!!

Foodblog (17 of 19)

GUYS – these were incredible!! Layers of waffle, marshmallow and chocolate with a graham cracker dusting on top. Paired so well with a roasted beer too!

Foodblog (16 of 19)

World Of Beer has locations around the country, and the offered a $25 gift card for me to give away! Enter below in a comment with your very favorite beer to enter : )

I visted Charlottesvile last week and went to the South Street brewery, where I tried Twisted Gourd. It’s my new favourite beer! Imperial chocolate chai pumpkin ale. This is my entry. 🙂

If I had to choose my favorite beer it would probably be the Oskar Blues Old Chub. But our local breweries in Williamsburg and Richmond has some pretty awesome seasonal beers as well that I loooove! The husband and I are heading back up to Charlottesville soon to pick up some wine orders (he went to UVA!), so we might have to check this place out! Thanks for the review!

Ok, kind of a random question..do you have an advice on portion control? Born and raised to clean our plates, I have a hard time stopping. Especially if it tastes extra good lol. I don’t really know how to tell I’m full/satisfied. I’m over weight and truly believe this is the reason.

There are a lot of articles on tips for portion control, and figuring out the ones that work for you is the hard part. Some of them work better than others! I also think slowing down is one of the biggest as you’ll start to feel full and know to put down your fork. Lastly, pick the times and places when it’s worth it to overindulge and then cut back on other nights (the Squiggly Line Effect in action!)

Thank you for responding, I will read some different literature on the subject. Allowing down is definitely a problem I have, I try to get done as soon as possible having a three year old and a one year old to help out..thanks for the advice!

My current favorite beer is Jack-O Traveler! Love WoB too! Going tonight for a New Belgium beer & Ben and Jerry’s ice cream pairing they are having 🙂

What a fun tasting! I love the idea of a pimento cheese board.

My favorite beer of all time is Southern Pecan by Lazy Magnolia Brewery out of Mississippi. You can’t drink too many because it is very flavorful, it’s made with real pecans. It reminds me of home!

I’m not much of a beer drinker but I love sampling them. I’m a fan of a local peanut butter beer in SD. Also Ballast Point’s grapefruit sculpin!

Blue Mountain beer choices across the board. We recently visited Charlottesville and beer drive just west, and the varieties they had at Blue Mountain were all excellent. So much we bought a few pint glasses and about 2 cases of their beer. Yay.

World of Beer was also a great little spot–we stayed at a Hampton Inn right next door.

New Belgium’s Fat Tire, which they now sell in Pennsylvania and not just out west and down south!

We have an incredible brewery in Atlanta, Monday Night Brewing, and they brewed a Blood Orange Pirate IPA this fall that was AMAZING!

Hey Kath! I hope you have been well! I’ve been DYING to go to World of Beer. Finally a sitter lined up for Saturday and think we’ll go there. Thanks for this great post. Everything looks delish!
