And Everything Nice

‘Twas a perfect day to take a drive into the country….

IMG_7957

..and down to the city…to pick up Meghann! So happy she is here to help me celebrate

Smile this !

IMG_8004

I took along these snacks for the 3-hour round-trip ride, but only ended up eating the apple because I was too busy talking on the way back! [It was one of the best apples of my life!! Honeycrisp, I believe]

IMG_7956

But thankfully we had a snack waiting for us upon our return – Matt Cracks!

IMG_7963

Snagged a few to tide us until dinner

IMG_7965

We made a quick turnaround to downtown – via BIKE! Using my old bike and Karen’s helmet. Glad Meghann was agreeable to put the pedal to the metal! We took a quick stroll down the Mall and ended up at our favorite casual dining spot: Mono Loco.

IMG_7973

First up: A Spice-A-Rita! LOVE these!!!!!!!! Meghann did too. We shared one.

IMG_7976

Matt had lots of fun playing with Baby Finn, who joined us for the evening with his Strong Mama and Dad.

IMG_7975

IMG_7981

Our service was very slow tonight, but we were gifted a free plate of chips (the FLOUR ones were amazing!)

IMG_7986

As well as some shooters!! We think these were some kind of papaya tequilla mix.

IMG_7988

I took a sip, but passed them on to Eric, who seemed more than happy to absorb them all Ninja

IMG_7990

For dinner I branched from my usual Day At The Beach burrito bowl and got the Gibson, which was cod, truffled mushrooms and roasted tomatoes. Sadly I forgot to ask for the crema sauce on the side and it game swimming in thick, rich sauce. It was hard to pick out the good stuff. But I ate about half anyways, and it did taste good.

IMG_7994

The night did not end there…

IMG_8003

Oh my heavens…

IMG_8005

Pumpkin Spice and everything nice!!

IMG_8012

That would be pumpkin spice latte yogurt with a twist of cake batter, a coconut marshamallow, ginger snaps and a pumpkin! SO GOOD! I shared half with Matt, who was happy to lick up the leftovers – too much came out of the spigot! I’m only in it for the toppings anyways Princess

IMG_8011

Love these candy pumpkins!

IMG_8014

But we all know who the real pumpkin of the night was!

IMG_8017

Wish me luck – 10K in the AM!

If the sauce is too rich, not because of calories or fat but simply taste, then she has the prerogative to not eat much of it. Why the heck would you spend time reading her blog only to comment in a negative manner. If this blog does not suit you, then move on and leave Kath alone. Go eat all of the cream sauce you want, but I’m not sure you’ll be running a 10K then, will you?

I agree that people need to lay off her. She ate pizza, what, two days ago, and got flack for that because it was “unhealthy.” It seems like she just can’t win.

Last night my husband and I stayed in Charlottesville on our way to DC (we’re moving there). We went down to the mall to have a nice walk and some dinner. As we were strolling I saw someone I recognized, but I couldn’t place her b/c I don’t know anyone in Charlottesville (in real life anyway). I did a double take, and it was YOU, with Matt, and another young woman (Meghann I’m guessing)!

I turned to my husband and said “I just the woman who writes a food blog I read” and he asked if we should follow you so we’d find a good place to eat :). Obviously we didn’t, and I’m glad you had such a delish dinner at Mono Loco. We ended up getting soup at Revolutionary Soup since the evening seemed to call for it.

    Happy birthday weekend!
