And Cheese!

Still chugging along. Feel better after an evening popsicle! Thank you guys so much for your words of encouragement. Makes me wonder if I should have just told you all along…but you never know (still don’t..)

I worked at the bakery till after dark, but luckily due to the weather I drove my auto, so I was home and dry in a few minutes.

I had a glass of milk as a snack. Trying to get in more protein and our protein options at the bakery are limited to almond butter and milk (and whole grain bread if you count that).

IMG_5916Blog

It actually tasted so refreshing!

Website is coming along.

Here is one of our recent ads in our local paper, Cville. A full page for Valentine’s! We have great success with these ads – people coming in all week and commenting on them. Note my photography : )

Dinner tonight came courtsey of Matt’s mom and his mom’s mom! Motherhood in da house. Karen, bless her, has been very helpful making us a few dinners. We had ravioli, meatloaf and mac and cheese this week. I’m having some trouble with eating, but I have very little desire to cook, so having something I can just bake off is so helpful. Raw ingredients are so unappealing! Thanks Karen!!

IMG_5919Blog

She made us Gran Bett’s Mac-A-Roni-And-Cheese! [Pronounced in a deep Southern accent!] It’s old fashioned and loaded with milk, eggs, cheese and butter. But boy did it taste good!

IMG_5921Blog

See those? Vegetable du jour!! I ate ‘em all! Roasted them along with the mac in the oven with a twist of lime juice and salt (seasonings would have been too much).

Matt and I just finished Season 2 of LOST. HOLY COW!!!! What is going on!?!

I enjoyed that popsicle after dinner. I think it made me feel the best I did all day!

2012-02-08 20.42.06Blog

Can’t believe it’s so late already – but again, we’ve been glued to the tube. I can’t wait for summertime when our evenings will be spent going on walks and playing outside.

Or will they!?

This will most likely sound crazy, but I didn’t have much morning sickness in my first trimester and wanted to (I think?) just because I felt like something was WRONG because I felt fine most of the time. They say morning sickness is a good sign! That said, I hope it starts to fade soon – it should start to go away in a week or so right? You’re close to your second trimester, aren’t you? Also, you’re doing so well eating! I’ve had crazy cravings for sweets, I’ve GOT to find a way to hinder some of that. I don’t feel like gaining a ton!

I’ve had a horrible day in terms of nauseous and I’m not even pregnant. Sore eyeballs, hot/cold flashes, a killer headache, plus the nauseous…it was a rough eight hours at work today. I’m really hoping that I’m not coming down with something–despite two of my co-workers being sick.

It’s great having family who can help you out with little things like meals and such. I remember when I was in University and busy with my projects and whatnot, my parents would offer to make my lunch and it seemed like the best thing in the entire world. Sometimes I could still go for someone else making my meals 😉

Not sure if you have an espresso machine (with a steamer) at the bakery, but sometimes when I have afternoon meetings at coffee shops and I don’t want coffee or tea, I order a steamed milk and love it. Sometimes I add cinnamon, pretty tasty and love the protein component as well. Of course it’s also nice and warming on a cold day.

Our likes/dislikes are so similar right now! I’m 12 weeks so we’re very close and I have found myself drinking a cold glass of milk with breakfast (which I never did before) and it tastes so delicious. Mac and cheese is one of my favs even though I haven’t eaten it in years! Actually all pasta is appealing. I also had no desire whatsoever to stand over a stove and cook but my love of cooking is coming back in the last 2 weeks or so, which is nice.
I also love popsicles! I think it’s because they’re so cold and refreshing.
When is your next ultrasound? I have another one on Valentine’s Day!

I had awful all-day sickness for the first three months of my first pregnancy, but then it passed and life was good. Hopefully yours will pass soon. TLC from the moms is good. Take advantage of it while you can!

So excited for you and Matt! one thing that really helped me feel better at the beginning of both of my pregnancies was anything sour….I kept a bowl of lemons in the refrigerator…sliced up and ready to suck on. Sounds weird, but it really helped. I remember going to a restaurant once and feeling really nauseas and requesting plain mashed potatoes and a bowl of lemons. haha!

Congrats on your news Kath! That’s so exciting. I have 3 kids and my oldest just started driving yesterday – it goes by so fast. But I LOVED LOVED LOVED being pregnant all three times. Just the excitement of everything. I had different food aversions to each pregnancy – which is weird. With my last pregnancy all I wanted to do was chew on crushed ice. As soon as she was born, that stopped!

I just want to keep reiterating how nice it’s been to read how you feel about food, because I feel the same way (one week behind you.) Before I got pregnant I assumed I would just eat and work out the way I always had and not use ‘the excuse’ of being pregnant to eat crappy. I’ve come to see that it’s not so simple and that the body REALLY wants what it wants and doesn’t want what it doesn’t want. Thanks for making me feel like I’m not just a flabby weak preggo lady 🙂 The other night I had a variation on what you had for dinner: pierogi and peas. I had mac and cheese and green beans on Super Bowl Sunday. Might I recommend, if you’re up for it, baby carrots and peanut butter? It goes down easy.
