A Brown Breakfast

IMG_4612

Good morning!!

It seems obvious that NYC has tons of amazing restaurants, but what I can’t believe is how many totally cool, hip, funky, modern places are on every. single. block! I want to try them all. I suppose even if you lived here you wouldn’t have the time, money or stomach space to do that! I bet some people have come close though. Going out to eat 3 meal a day would definitely be so much more tempting here.

This morning Matt (who stumbled home about 2am last night but woke up at 8:30 when I did!) and I met our dear friend Whitney (aka Whizzle) for breakfast at Brown Café on the lower east side.

IMG_4611

We started with refreshing lemon water and strong coffees (Intelligentsia!)

IMG_4614

IMG_4621

I had one thing on the brain: the yogurt, fruit and granola bowl.

IMG_4620

It appears to be all granola, but there was tons of delicious plain yogurt and fruit to be found underneath.

IMG_4617

Whitney got these beautiful baked eggs!

IMG_4616

We were on the same freshman hall at Davidson, and I’m sad we don’t get to see each other more often!

IMG_4624

Back at the hotel, we’re about to head out for brunch with all the hungover frat boys!

Brunch in NYC (I used to live there!) is such a glorious experience – I wish the rest of the nation would get on board with how important brunch is! I’m creepily excited to check back into KERF to see where y’all end up going for brunch!

Both those breakfast’s looking pretty amazing!!! Living in NYC makes it so tempting to go out ALL the time. My hubby and I have to limit ourselves to 2 times a week, but if we were not on a budget and I didn’t enjoy cooking as much as I do..I think we would eat out EVERY meal! So many fantastic places to eat!

So glad you got to meet up with your old friend, Whitney, and hang out. And yes, isn’t it amazing when you go to a big city like NYC or Chicago or even smaller cities with a fun food scene, that on every single block there’s amazing restaurants. In every little neighborhood, block, street, there are gems. EVerywhere! I have lived in entire states that had less diversity in restaurants than say one block in certain other cities in other states.

    Glad you’re enjoying the weekend!

So true about NYCers being tempted to eat out all the time. I was born, raised, and currently live here and still have not even dined at one fifth of all the restaurants! Haven’t even been to any of the ones you’ve visited thus far. Hope you enjoy the rest of your time here!
