225 Friends

Much fun tonight, starting with a pow wow with the other HLS founders. We talk via email all the time, but it was so nice to get together and talk in person. There’s a lot of wonderful things about writing a blog, but there’s a lot of garbage that comes with it and having other bloggers for support is the greatest.

summit

I went out with Caitlin and Tina for a drink to kill some time before the cocktail party began

IMG_5958 (600x400) IMG_5962 (600x400)

Chardonnay!

IMG_0071 (600x450)

We also shared this goat cheese platter to tide our hunger – <3 goat cheese!

IMG_5963 (600x400)

Soon enough we were roaming the halls of the Reading Terminal Market

IMG_5968 (600x400)

And stumbled upon the party deep inside!

IMG_5969 (600x400)

I started the evening with a Dogfish! I hadn’t had this Chicory Stout before – it was good! (Jealous Kanz!?)

IMG_5972 (600x400)

Tonight’s food was a great mix of cheese, veggies, pizzas and a few passed items like pretzel-covered chicken that was a crunchy bite

IMG_5974 (600x400)

I had a plate of food, highlighted in cheese!

IMG_5973 (600x400)

I met so many fun new ladies tonight – meeting people is so fun! My favorite part is asking someone where they live. I love making connections and talking differences in regions.

The Healthy Hoboken Girl brought me this fabulous biker girl mug!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will have to show you a better daylight photo. I am in love!

IMG_5976 (600x400)

And inside was filled with macaroons!! I shared them with some other blog readers for dessert

IMG_5977 (600x400)

I took a final sip of beer (just to taste it – shared it with others) and chugged some water, which made me explode from my dress!!

IMG_5980 (600x400)

I hobbled back in my heels and am tucked in bed! (I am already sweating in these polyester-like sheets. I blame them for the sweat!)

Hi Kath! Long-time reader, just-beginning blogger. I was wondering, could you explain what you meant when you said there was a lot of ‘garbage’ that came with writing a blog? I’d love to know in advance.

Other than the Marie Claire backlash, I’ve never read any real negatives to blogging by the bloggers themselves.

Negative comments, internet bullies, trolls, hate sites, Marie Claire! We try to stay really positive despite it all, but like any life trials, it’s nice to be able to share experiences and support with friends who are going through the same thing

🙁 weird that people would put that much energy into being that negative. I’m sure the love WAY outweighs the hate though!!

        Dear Kathy,
I read your post on MC article about food bloggers. I would like to give you my humble opinion about your site. As I have mentioned before in another post, you are an INSPIRATION to ME. I don’t care about people’s opinion. I care about my opinion and how much I know your site has changed my life. And from this humble avid reader and new blogger I say THANK YOU!

I second that! The MC article was totally out of line; isn’t this site great? I’m glad to hear some nice people such as yourself realize how much is to be gained from Kath. Happy HLS, in case you’re there!

Uggh poly sheets are horrible!!! I live in TX so I go all cotton. Pretzel chicken is super easy to make at home, I just had it last week!!! You just crush the pretzels, dip chicken tenders into egg whites and then into the pretzels, and then pan cook them in a tiny bit of oil. 🙂 I like it with honey mustard on top.

This is hilarious! I leave Penn to check out C’ville’s med-school for next year and of course to pay you an Matt a visit and all this time you were in Philly! Too funny. I did get to see the new store and grab a loaf of the cinnamon raisin walnut bread along with some C’ville cluster granola and I could not leave without some of vanilla almond butter! All excellent by the way. I would have said hello to Matt but he was preoccupied with a gentleman wearing a Vietnam veteran hat asking about day old bread. Will definitely make another trip down soon.

There's a dark side to blogging, but anyone or anybody in the spotlight is pretty much fair game. I guess we all know what celebrities must feel like.. on a much smaller scale of course, lol. Most of us don't have paparazzi tailing us 24/7– yet. haha

It really annoys me when I read negative comments on people’s blog. If I for any reason stopped liking the content of your posts, isn’t it just easier to stop reading than be a biatch about it! Grrr some people go out of their way to be mean!

    Amen, sista!

I just posted today about a meetup I had with my friend and although she isnt currently blogging, she runs websites and can totally relate to it all.

And I have a circle of friends that when I get a particular doosie of a comment or just one of those head shake huh ones…that I now have learned to LAUGH about <–but that only took 2+ yrs 🙂 but yes, having a circle of friends to share it with who get it, 100%, yes, priceless.

And all you girls look…amazing!!! And everyone has great hair!
