14 Things For 2014

The best you can hope for in life is that your next year is better than your last.

KAY-0215

Are you guys making resolutions for 2014? I generally have the same ones every year:

NY2

Those are pretty all-encompassing of the usuals: eat well, exercise often, make time for myself, rest, love on my family and friends, stay organized, stress less, act generously and kindly toward others. These are the resolutions I wake up with every morning, so New Years just feels like a time to be extra focused on my everyday goals. I do love the refreshing feeling of resolutions though!

Here are 14 things I am looking forward to this year:

14

1. Matt’s 31st birthday – I have a few great presents ready to go!

this !

2. A trip to Key West with Karen and Andrew! I can’t wait for warm tropical weather

3. Mazen’s first tumbling class. He sure loves to jump and flip so I can’t wait to see how he likes it!

4. Spring soccer season. I really loved playing this fall and can’t wait for games to start up again.

5. Great Harvest Convention. It’s in a warm destination this year!

6. Spring weather when our backyard becomes really fun again

7. Our 7th wedding anniversary!

8. A summer beach trip. Maybe Mazen will love the ocean this year?

9. The Third Annual Low Country Boil!

10. A weekend girls’ trip somewhere fun with my mom friends. TBD.

11. Mazen’s 2nd birthday. What will he be able to do by then!?

12. Mazen’s first day of preschool! Just 2 mornings a week, but a big step in growing up

13. A romantic fall getaway to Sonoma – without our little guy. It’s been a long time since we’ve set foot in wine country and a long time since we’ve been anywhere as a couple <3

14. Turning 32. Where has the time gone.

Those are great resolutions!! I’m trying to be smarter with my time this year. As in, less internet time and more volunteering time! More time spent nurturing myself and less time worrying.

Here’s to a wonderful year in 2014!! Looks like you have a LOT of exciting things to look forward to! 😀

Lots of fun ahead!!! When is it Matt’s birthday? My little nephew is 2 in March…such a fun age!!! He latest thing is playing hide and seek! The only problem is he tends not to tell anyone until he’s gone missing! Found him in the downstairs bathroom yesterday with the door closed!

Love this post– always look to you and your positive nature. Quick question, I am obsessed with over nite oats….. Love so much. I just tried the Oat Bran hot cereal after my morning run and like this. I was wondering if you had any advice with this product for a “overnite version”. Thanks for the advice and warmest wishes to you and your beautiful family for a happy and healthy 2014.

I think you can do it just like overnight oats. Just put the right ratios of water milk and Oat bran. I’ve never done it though so I’m not sure if all the liquid Would absorb.

That is a ton of exciting stuff! I agree that resolutions can be for any time of the year, not just the New Year, but this is a great time to hone in on them.
I hope you have a blessed new year, Kath!

Sounds like you have a fun year planned! I usually plan to make resolutions & then never do, so this year I’m going to follow through with some ‘real’ resolutions. My 2014 resolutions include losing the last 40-50 pounds, getting a new position as a medical lab scientist in my new state of North Carolina (just moved from Ohio a little over two weeks ago), taking a ‘real’ vacation somewhere and getting my budget in better order. 😉

For breakfast Blue Heaven is a must! Such a fun atmosphere (live music at breakfast, outdoor bar and patio, ping pong, hens and their little chicks at your feat) and the most amazing homemade banana bread that you can take home too! Also the Banana Cafe was great too.

For dinner, Louie’s Backyard is probably the “nicest” restaurant you will find in Key West. A tad pricey, but the food was a incredible and the setting was beautiful and romantic. Mangoes is a great spot on Duval Street, delicious seafood and more reasonable. For Italian (especially pasta!), Mangia Mangia was absolutely delicious.

Have fun! Hope you enjoy Key West and post about where ever you decide to eat!

Happy New Year Kath (plus M & M)!!! What an exciting list and a great idea as compared to ‘resolutions’. Kevin and I made a list of goals or things we want to accomplish/ continue to work on, but we never make resolutions. Today is just another day just like tomorrow will be.
Not sure how far you want to venture with your mom friends, but you can always rent a beach house and visit Charleston! Hooray for Matt’s birthday ( are you making a cake?) and celebrating another year of marriage. We celebrate 7 years in October. Where is life going?

I love Key West!!! My boyfriend’s parents own a wine and cigar bar on Duvall street – it’s called Cork and Stogie – you should check it out while you’re there!! It’s near the Southernmost Point and the Butterfly conservatory (both must-sees as well). Enjoy!

Hi – my sis lives behind the square in Sonoma and is a foodie, so if you need any tips, let me know. We typically stay away from the more touristy restaurants and wineries. One of my fav restaurants there is called La Salette and the dessert I have thought about for the last year is called “you’re my pudding. It will be my first stop when I visit in March 🙂
We also LOVE the food/wine pairing at St. Francis. We go at least twice a year to that (and I’m in Southern CA!)
