Happy Valentine’s Day!
I woke up parched and seriously craving an orange this morning. Too much vino!
I turned the orange into a smoothie – and brought in orange granola and chocolate hazelnut butter to turn a single orange into a holiday-appropriate breakfast!
Chocolate a l’Orange Smoothie
Serves 2
- 1 orange, peeled
- 1 banana
- 1/2 cup old fashioned oats
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tbsp ground flax
Toppings
- Orange scented granola
- Drizzle of chocolate hazelnut butter
Chocolate cup recipe is coming soon!

This smoothie looks awesome! Happy Valentines Day, Kath!!
Happy Valentine’s Day, Kath! That smoothie looks delicious!
did you like the chocolate hazelnut butter? Well, I guess if you like Nutella then you would like Justin’s version? I tried Justin’s Chocolate PB and wasn’t too crazy about it.
Yes, I love it!
Yum-O! Happy V-day
I immediately thought of those chocolate orange balls — the ones that look like an orange but they are made of chocolate — I hope you know what I mean. I used to love to slam them on the counter to break apart the pieces. So good!
When I traveled last summer, I knew that I would have a hard time find any good nut butter in Europe, so I took a ton of those Justin’s packets! I mostly had honey peanut butter and almond butter, but I had one or two chocolate hazelnut ones and they were so good. Perfect size!
Chocolate is a necessity on Valentines Day
@Holly — Those are Terry’s chocolate oranges — whack and unwrap!
The smoothie looks tasty, but I didn’t think you could mix milk and orange–doesn’t the milk curdle?
It was fine for me!
I miss me some Justin’s Hazel packets. Beautiful placemat!
What a perfect smoothie for Valentine’s Day! Chocolate on this holiday is a must! I haven’t had any yet, but I will DEFINITELY be indulging in some later today!
I have been loving SIABs lately. The Chocoberry one last week totally inspired me, and this one is beautiful as well!
I LOVE the combo of chocolate and orange–http://www.amazon.com/Terrys-Chocolate-Orange-6-17-Ounce-Boxes/dp/B001LN4IZS is one of my favorites!!

I like the holiday appropriate plate mats! Very LOVE-LY!
Yum!! The orange smoothie looks great. I’m always wary of putting citrus in smoothies because of the inner white stringy parts. But this looks delicious!
It has literally never occured to me to put an orange in a smoothie. I’m definitely going to try it!
Oranges and chocolate = one of the best combinations ever. Happy Valentine’s Day, Kath!!
Look awesome! Happy valentines day!
Love the color choices for the photos!
Okay so I don’t want to ruin the perfect 26 comments here but I am in AWE of how many different types of granolas and nut butters you have. It would be awesome to see a post on all the varieties you have–unless I missed that somewhere?
I get lots of samples! They are always cycling out too. The Orange Ambrosial is now gone1

Are those placemats scrapbook paper from Michaels? Because I literally just bought that SAME paper yesterday at the store!
Yup!

I”ve always wondered how an orange in oatmeal would taste – have you ever had it like that before?
I haven’t – guess I should!
The chocolate/orange combo always ends up tasting like Tootsie Rolls to me!!
Hi! Just wanted to let you know I tried my first oatmeal with chia seeds, Nuttzo, and Ollieberry jam this morning – ah-mazing!!! Thanks for the suggestions. And, have you had Ollieberry jam before?
I have not!
orange and chocolate = amazing!
I remember I use to get these chocolate orange candy things all the time, it was shaped like an orange and you would break it into pieces , like orange slices, it was sooooooo good! Ever since having those , I loved the orange and chocolate combo!
Happy Valentines Day to you guys!!
I literally just finished spooning this smoothie for breakfast; it was wonderful! I topped mine with shredded coconut, Ancient Grains granola, coconut butter and some Justin’s Chocolate Hazelnut. I also ended up adding ice to the smoothie, because I wanted more volume.
Thanks so much!
How fun! WHat a new twist to the usual breakfast valentines day ideas… I did chocolate- coconut- strawberry yesterday, but that’s pretty typical of vday
Happy Valentine’s Day Kath!
I do love the chocolate part of this, but for some reason the combination of chocolate and orange has always made my stomach turn.
Happy v-day Kath!
I’ve always wanted to try orange in a smoothie but I was never sure how it would work out with the milk. That’s good to know that it works!
Happy Valentine’s Day.
That sounds delicious, but I don’t think it would be the same without the toppings you used.
Can’t wait to try this recipe with the new (at least to me) Pacific hazelnut milk! Thanks for the great ideas.
This one is a winner! What a morning starter.
