Replacement Bears

So fun to wake up to a clean house!! Looks like our manual labor has come to a close, but we have plenty of tinkering labor to keep us busy. And a few trips out to stores. And a beer date!

Whaddya do when you don’t have cooking spray? Use the good stuff.

Yesterday I got this message in the comments about the Bears:

The Bears like the looks of the new house, but they are refusing to come unless they have their own room, their own TV and computers, and a trampoline. They said a chair in the corner was not enough reason to leave Grammy’s.  I told them they were acting like very spoiled bears to be so demanding, sweet as they are.

Well let them know there are other bears waiting to take their place!

Coupla iced coffees to drink!

We are having some mega internet issues at this new house. It’s making me grit my teeth!

I’d rather be gritting my teeth on Buckwheat Granola…which I now have the ingredients to make!

The bears are a little worried, so they said yes, they will come back. Bocker is worried you are going to enroll him in UVA, and he doesn’t know his times tables yet. I told him, no, you would find a suitable school just right for a young bear.

Internet issues drive me crazy! I had problems with my connection the other day (T-mobile was doing maintenance at 8:30 am on a Tuesday!). It didn’t end up getting resolved until late afternoon, so I had to hit up B & N as well as Earth Fare for internet. Blah. At least it has only happened once in the past year…knock on wood!

I made the buckwheat granola and it was good. I put it into a flatter pan so it would not take three hours in the oven (too much in the summer!). I also substituted dried cranberries and apricots for the currants. My recommendation is to up the amount of fruit in the granola significantly. I also cut the oil in half and used water in place of it. Granola still came out crunchy and nicely browned. Enjoy it, the recipe makes a lot.

I love iced coffee in the summer too, but hate how diluted hot coffee gets when poured over ice. Solution? Make your coffee the day/night before, then put it in a Ball jar after it’s cool and stick it in the fridge. In the AM, pull it out, ice it and enjoy! The finishing touch? A splash of vanilla extract. Yum!
