Here’s some more of life lately!

Happy Last Day Of School!
Charlottesville schools are out of the summer. Boy that year went by fast! Birch is going to 2nd grade, and Mazen off to 8th.
You know what else is out? Someone’s top tooth!

Snaggletooth dangled for a week or so until they both were gone. The cutest smile!

The last weeks of school were as crazy as ever, especially with lots and lots of rain. But on one sunny day I joined B’s class for a scavenger hunt field trip! We had a lot of fun hunting for birds and fractions along the trail.

We also found a colony of ants in our neighborhood. They are either back underground or exterminated, but we’re choosing to think they’re just cozy from the sun.

I made myself cozy from the sun during a soccer game with my belt bag! I forgot a hat and BOY was it hot!

But not to worry – we both had our sun protection on here 🙂

The Mandalorian costume has been all around this month!

My Three Chambered Heart
Last weekend we took a Saturday trip with friends to the reptile museum that is between Cville and Richmond called My Three Chambered Heart. The kids LOVED IT!

They got to pet an iguana and hold a snake! Well, Birch and I decided that petting the snake was good enough for us 😉

Emmy Squared Pizza
Another fun place we visited was Emmy Squared Pizza! It’s a Brooklyn-founded, Detroit-style pizza restaurant new to Barracks Road. We LOVED it and can’t wait to go back!

The sharable Caesar salad was perfection with breadcrumbs and a hint of anchovy.

The dough was soooo good, and I loved the crispy edges. The Founders pizza was our favorite!

B loved the kids meal with cheesy sticks, dipping sauces, waffle fries and cucs!

Theater + Shows
The boys and I went to see Mean Girls at Mazen’s school. I wish he would do a show, but there’s zero chance. Maybe Birch will!

I also went to Richmond to see the musical & Juliet, which I LOVED! It’s based on Romeo and Juliet if Juliet had lived. And the music is all pop songs from the 2000s! The story was great, and there were so many jokes. 10/10 would recommend!

And finally – who watched Survivor this season? It was full of ups and downs for me, but I was happy with the winner!!

Year of the Jump Suit
Everyone knows that I’m late to fashion trends, and I’m also 5’2″ so pants are hard to fit me, but I found two that I love! Albion Fit sent me their City Jumpsuit and it’s a perfect fit.

I also found this Amazon two-piece set (so much easier to go to the bathroom!) You can pull the top or up down depending on how much skin you want to show.

Something else that is dressed up is my kitchen with the Pottery Barn barstools. They look so good here!

Kath Eats Real Food

Breakfasts
I’ve been craving oats + PB a lot lately! Probably because we had 10 days of clouds and cool weather.

Daily Harvest protein oatmeal has all these little bits of seeds and nuts in it that I really love.

PB Kodiak cakes

Mazen has finally decided he likes eggs, and I’ve been making him this whole wheat english muffin egg + cheese sandwich. SO glad he’s eating a healthy breakfast!! I make one for myself sometimes too.

The hotter the temp, the more likely I am to eat yogurt bowls and smoothies.

Lunches
My lunches are still all over the place! Either a big salad with Fishwife, a burrito and veggies with hummus, or leftovers.

Dinners

THIS salad was amazing! Quinoa, chicken, feta, tomatoes, peppers, and all the herbs. All tossed in orange marmalade dressing.

We’ve had the True Nature pulled pork to make BBQ sandwiches and chipotle chicken tacos. Use code KATHEATS35 for $40 off.

Mazen requested steaks, and I was proud of myself for making one on the stovetop. It was not perfect and it was a tiny bit more cooked than medium rare, but we both enjoyed!

These red drinks are the Island Spritz by Recess. My favorite NA drink of late.

Baked chicken thighs / broccoli (on a broc kick!) / Wegmans mac and cheese

Weekend grill out at the neighbors!

Thursday happy hour at Three Notched.

Burgers with the cutie boys. I need a grill.

Splurged at the store. OMG these are good!

I found these cards my grandmother painted when I was cleaning out my memory trunk. I need to frame them!
