Worth The Wait

October 28, 2009

Man today was a strange eating day! As promised, I ate the second half of  my sandwich and my DELICIOUS cottage cheese around 4PM. Then I wasn’t hungry again until 6:30 – when we promptly got out of class early.

I hurried home and went straight into dinner, so all of my other packed snacks went untouched.

Dinner was leftover NC Trout from my b-day dinner with leftover rice from last night and broiled cajun asparagus that made made.

It all tasted amazing and totally hit the spot! I never thing leftovers are worth bringing home from restaurants, but whenever I do have some I always enjoy them SO much. My favorite was when I was little and we’d go out for Japanese hibachi grill on a Saturday night and I’d have a pile of rice and chicken and shrimp in that white ranch sauce to eat after church on Sunday for lunch. Best. Leftovers. Ever.

Served with a splash of Black Box Wine Sauv Blanc, which went perfectly with the dish

Photographed neatly; consumed by the tele per Wednesday late-night fashion

I came home to a belated birthday present from Matt!!! He ordered it and it was delayed arriving, but it was worth the wait. Photo in the AM! [Remind me if I forget!]

I am debating working on some assignments or just vegging out. I need to catch up on some blog reading too!

I love leftovers. And you can really do so much with them. Add different ingredients to make it ‘new’.

Your photos tonight look especially beautiful!

I love getting a second meal out of restaurant meals – it is like the meal cost half as much!
I know sometimes snacks are necessary, but if possible I always prefer to wait and have a “real” meal.

I’m not a big leftovers fan. It has to be really good for me to bring it home. Usually Hunni ends up eating my leftovers.

I love that you have wednesday dinner in front of the TV. That’s the usual for use because we are so busy but we really want to start eating at the table before the kids come along.

Why wouldn’t leftovers be worth bringing home?! Unless there was very little left, I suppose. Hey, they charge enough! ;) And that looks pretty good for a second time around… usually they’re a lot uglier/more smooshed together. I should mention, the new layout looks very clean and crisp — the 3D spoon/bananas on top are especially amazing — super job, Jenn!

I pretty much never bring leftovers from restaurants. It’s not very common here in Portugal, actually.

Leftovers rule.

Growing up, my Mom would set out all the leftovers from the week for our after church lunch on Sunday… it was my favorite meal ever! Usually consisted of things like baked beans, roast chicken, lasagna… all sorts of delicious things that somehow tasted even better a few days old!
