My meeting this morning took me over the mountain and through the woods
And out to Jefferson Vineyards!
Looks like I’m going to be doing some recipe writing & wine pairing for their wine club and newsletter – a match made in heaven! I’ve always wanted to work with wine.
[Not that I don’t already work with wine when I blog about drinking it all the time!!]
I’m excited to get started! So is the first set of wine club wines I brought home to use in the work!
When I returned home, Matt and I turned around to walk to Café Europa [<—hey they use the old KERF theme!] on the corner to meet Karen for our weekly family meeting lunch.
All signs of warm weather have gone behind the clouds!
For lunch I got a roasted veggie & olive pita with a side salad
Had to pick off the onions I requested by left in the kitchen
This Perrier tasted SO GOOD today!
Karen had an eggplant + feta panini and Matt had a spicy chicken panini. I think theirs were better than mine..
We were hungry for something more, so we got Arch’s!
They had MARSHMALLOW flavor!!! And of course the gooey brownie was the bomb. We shared this set three ways:
And then we walked home!
Tomorrow morning via my KERF Shop newsletter, you won’t want to miss this
I’m going to yoga this afternoon after some more paper electronic work! Biking in this wind is going to be painful!

The arch’s looks DELISH. Stay warm in the cold weather! It’s 17deg F here!!
Roasted veg and olive pita. I don’t want my dinner anymore, I want THAT.
OMG brownie batter. Want.
Marshmallow flavor sounds unreaaaaaaaal. Congrats on the new gig!!
Congrats on the new work!
At least your streets and sidewalks are clear for biking and walking — wish I could say the same about ours! Congrats on your new writing gig with the winery.
Working with wine is the best — I would know!
Funny though, when I read what you wrote this morning I assumed you were doing Great Harvest work with wine….don’t know how or why I thought that.
I need Arches in my life!
We’re biking here today, too. It’s sunny (and windy!), but tomorrow is back to freezing precipitation, so we have to take advantage.
Yum! Marshmallow and brownie?! Yes, please!
Yum! Now I know what I want to make for lunch tomorrow. I’ve got an eggplant I’ve been trying to figure out what to do with.
Congrats on the new work!
That marshmallow looks totally amazing. Congrats on the new gig!
oooo what an exciting partnership!
What a fun job you have
marshmallow, gooey brownie, wine. You’ve managed to put three of my favorite things in one post!
OMG, you went to cafe Europa and didn’t get tomato soup?!?!?!? That is one of my top 5 favorite things! We will have to go back some time!
I tried it – wasn’t impressed!
Ok fine…I’ll keep my onions and cafe Europa soup for myself
Working with Jefferson Vineyards sounds like fun! Can’t wait to see what you come up with!
Ha!
Oh YUM. I love pita “wraps”
It’s so chilly here too! They are calling for snow on Thursday, yikes! You are more committed than I am, biking in the cold
Hope you have a great yoga session!
I love Arch’s …. marshmallow flavor … DELICIOUS!!
Paninis are the best!
Yum to marshmallow and brownie! So cool that you can walk most places, Kath!
I’m so jealous of Charlottesville’s walkability! I love how quiet it is where I am (in the middle of nowhere) but no sidewalks and no shoulders on the road limit walking!
Marshmallow?! No way! That would be like a giant smores:) Have fun at yoga!:)
That’s awesome about your new writing gig!
And I would take the onions off your plate anytime, I love them!
Busy day!! I’m excited to see what kind of meal pairings youdo with the wines!
As a new reader (and a newer blogger), I just wanted to say I am so jealous of your job opportunities! Of course, I am still a ‘novice’ at wine (is there such a thing?) but I’ve been to lots of tastings and could totally make a career of it
Ok…third picture. If you use the scroll on the mouse relatively fast while looking at the picture….it’s AMAZING! It gives you a feel as if the room is spinning (as it would be if we drank all that wine). I love that picture….awesome lines and great composition!!
….or maybe I’m drunk at work?
Aaaa! That’s the bag I loooove!
I’ll be on the lookout for it tomorrow.
Too bad about you pita — it looks good though! I think Karen made the wise choice — eggplant and feta sounds so delicious!
How neat about your new wine work coming up — congrats
I want an eggplant and feta panini. Biking in the wind is boooo.
Congrat’s! Wine pairing and food always sounds fun, plus you get to taste a whole bunch of yummy stuff!
Your pita looks amazing! It gives me an idea for a good recipe
Today in NYC it’s like a wind storm or something, I literally had to lean forward to move ahead! I hope it isn’t that bad out there or else you’re going to have one painful ride home.
I used to eat at Cafe Europa all the time when I was in graduate school. I got the hummus sandwich which was basically a ginormous hunk of french bread with hummus and alfalfa sprouts. Man did I love that sandwich. I am sure the menu has changed since then!
I think that was on the menu, but it sounded boring to me against roasted veggies and olives! I’m sure that’s what I would have liked best
yeah it does sound a little boring but french bread is sooo good
I was going to comment on how great the pita looks and then you posted the sweet treats! Yowza…I want!
Congrats on your new writing gig dear! I’ve got to say Cville’s walkability is simply envious
How exciting to work with Jefferson Vineyards! I visited their winery several times when I use to live in VA. Mmmmmm wine!
Gooey brownie froyo?! How have I never tried this flavor? Oh, it’s because I didn’t even know it existed. I think I would die if I saw that in a froyo place.
Very exciting news about the wine club newsletter, Congrats! And have fun with it
oooh food + wine pairing = sounds like a perfect fit for you!!! I cant wait to hear what you come up with!! How fun!
What a fun new career venture– and a perfect fit for you!
This sounds like a dream! “recipe writing & wine pairing for their wine club and newsletter – a match made in heaven!”—YAY for you!
I always say if i ever become a millionaire, I’d love to own a vineyard. Seriously!
Congrats on the new job! Sounds like fun.
Congrats on the new job! It sounds very exciting.
Why didn’t you send the sandwich back? If you requested no onions, it should have been prepared that way.
Eh, I should have
I am all over marshmallows and brownies, yum!
Ohh – it’s lovely to see green grass! Fabulous photos!
Oh my god! Everytime I see that gooey fudge brownie topping on your blog I just about die and go to heaven! I seriously NEED to go down south to get some of that; It’s honestly on my list of top 30 things to do!
Your pita looks super yummy btw:)
I love your jacket! Do you bike to your yoga?
I love the pictures here – it really is like a “painter’s” canvas or something.
Sounds like a fun day and just wow on the marshmallow and gooey brownie!
Oh my goodness that lunch looks amazing! And you look very cute in your coat.
What a cool gig!! Anything with wine would make me happy…make it work and it’s even better
I love Jefferson vineyards- I love the wine they re-label and give out at the Marine Corps Marathong (or used to.)
Ok – you officially have my dream job.
Wine + food. AND marshmallow ice cream?! Ahhhh! Double congrats!
Did you guys go to Cupcake Vineyard in Napa? They handed out recipes that paired with the wine we tasted (not worth a special trip though – FYI).
We didn’t – but what a great name. Like Cakebread!
Only it hurts the pocketbook a little less than Cakebread! Also to continue the name game — there’s http://www.layercakewine.com/ !
Doh! I meant CakeBREAD. I must be craving cupcakes.
The first time I bought Layer Cake Wine, I’m not ashamed to admit it was purely for the name.
Wine pairing and recipe writing what a great combo, sounds like it will be a lot of fun! Oh and that marshmallow frozen yogurt looks delicious I am going to have to keep my eye out for that one
I LOVE Perrier! And marshmallow….so jealous right now!
that’s awesome you get to work with wine…a dream come true!
Congrats on your new endeavor! What a wonderful oppportunity that you are going to do wonderful at!
Pita wraps might be my favorite thing. That looks delicious! And now I want a frozen dessert
That eggplant and feta panini sounds delicious!!!
marshmallow!? aaaaah! insanity!
I need to make a visit to Cville so I can get some Arch’s!
Your blog is beautiful, I love your photography and everything just looks so good on it!
Thanks Katie!
Marshmallow and brownie batter together sounds pretty righteous!
^I agree with Christin!
ps. I want to buy everything in your shop. How do I justify this?!
That a dinner out is probably the same price and you would think twice about that
Ohhh, marshmallow flavour and gooey brownie? GAH! Still no froyo here in Canberra, Australia, though I do know a store has opened 8 horus away in Melbourne…
Your new work with the winery sounds amazing! I’m assuming this means you’re going to be hooked up with lots of free wine?
I feel your oniony pain……I hate onions and I always seem to get them on my food even if I ask to leave them off! Glad I’m not the only one. Congrats on your new partner-wine-work stuff!!!
Congrats on the new opportunity! What could be better than working with wine?!
Ugh, every time you show the brownie batter, I salivate in envy.
Mashmallow flavor? That sounds amazing!
Congratulations on the writing gig! Sounds wonderful!
Love that gym bag. Who makes it. Goey brownie, always so jealous, looks tasty.
That pita looks absolutely fabulous!!! As does the dessert. YUM!
What a lovely day you had, it looks like. I’m jealous. I would MUCH rather be doing what you did than sitting through a 3 hour long statistics class all afternoon
Ohhh the gooey brownie looks absolutely divine!!
I’m going to visit Charlottesville someday just to taste those pillowly fluffs of marshmallow goodness and gooey brownie!
Dozens of others have probably said this but I think your coat is adorable! And that Arch’s looks incredible… maybe I can convince them to branch out to Toronto…maybe?
Congrats on the job, can’t wait to read your recipes. All the day’s food looks amazing!
Cute gloves
Ummm that is my dream job! How fun-when will your first pairing in the newsletter run? I’ll help you, umm, research? Haha
