+/-2 weeks till this would read “mom’s day out.” You know that sweet country song “I’m gonna miss this.” I’m trying to remember that when I run a bunch of errands in a row with only my own needs to consider.
‘Cause You’re gonna miss this
You’re gonna want this back
You’re gonna wish these days hadn’t gone by so fast
These are some good times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you’re gonna miss this
[Trace Adkins]
Of course I can’t wait to meet my baby boy and devote my days to him, but on the other hand, I’m trying to focus on living in the moment right now. Lots of emotions these last weeks!!
I met with my lawyer this morning. Worked on a bunch of paperwork for a new project (wouldn’t be starting a new project right now except this one is a really neat long-term commitment…(and not a book)].
Then I went out to lunch with my new friend Kate!! Kate is due the day before I am, and we met in yoga!! Of course 100% of the lunch was baby talk : )
We met at Arch’s for salads and gooey brownie! [Did you hear Arch’s @ The Corner is going self serve!?]
Build your own salad for me!
This was a delicious bowl of spinach, tofu, goat cheese, black beans, corn, peppers, avocado and balsamic.
BYO Water
And of course afterwards we had to partake in some gooey brownie.
If you are ever in Cville, you MUST go to Arch’s for the gooey brownie!! I actually got a taste of the cake batter today too, but the reviews were right – something was just a little off about it. Like it was made with aspartame or something?
This brownie batter was HOT out of the oven and oh-so-good!
After lunch I got a pedicure (baby blue toes!) so my feet will be pretty from now through 42 weeks. She said my feet were, in fact, swollen : (
Impulse buys!!!!!!!
I ordered the new Orla Kiely soaps from Methodhome.com – no need to worry about Target running out! One of every flavor. I love the design and the smells are awesome too!!! Bay Leaf is my favorite, followed by Primrose. Vanilla Chai is good too, although I don’t love it on my hands an hour later. Pear Ginger is my least favorite, but good if you like pear! Once the soap is gone, I plan to refill the bottles and use them again and again!
Have a great afternoon!

Warm gooey brownie!?! That just made me feel angry it sounds so good. Your toes are adorable!
Loved our lunch getting to talk about all things baby! Can’t wait to bring the babies on future “mom’s day out” trips!
Me too!!
Hey Kath,
Totally random, but I thought you’d get a kick out of this:

Maybe something for you to remember next time you head up to my city.
Hope you’re doing well!
Someone shared that on twitter – I must go on my next NYC visit!!
Oh my! I want to go there! Thanks for sharing!
I’ve never heard of Archs – I don’t think we have them near us – but that brownie looks Delicious!
It’s a local Cville thing, but very fun!
That place looks awesome – I love how simple they make the ordering process, too!
I use other Method products, but hadn’t heard about those new scents – I’ll have to check them out. Glad that you got to enjoy a nice pedicure. It’s the little things that make such a big difference!
That looks like fun to create your own salad. I wish there was a restaurant closer to my house where we could do that. It looks really good!
I hum those lines all the time to myself, now that I have my baby! I didn’t think them during pregnancy, but man were they comforting in the first 6-8 weeks of having a newborn. Especially the nights that I had 4 or 5 marathon nursing sessions. And you know what? It’s already true. Even though Anderson is only 3 months old, the other day I was cleaning out pictures in my phone, and found a video that my husband took the day after Anderson was born. He was so tiny, and was making these cute hunger cues, and I burst into tears, an emotional mess about missing my newborn. Ha. hormones.
That menu is so cool! I love that idea! And that gooey brownie looks perfect- anything warm and gooey and chocolatey is perfection in my book.
Wow. I have been checking the blog for the past few hours looking for your afternoon post and after a while I started to think “she’s in labor wooowhooo” but alas, you were just out having a lovely day and getting your toes painted. Soon enough!! That salad looks amazing. I always seem to put the same things on my salads day in and day out – no wonder i opt for going out to get nachos once in a while. I need variety!
When are you going to announce the new project?! I hate suspense!
I don’t know – I’m sorry! Whenever the project begins – probably after baby comes.
It’s a blogging gig : )
You have a way better Target than I do! From your cute travel/toiletry bags to the Method (even though I know you said you ordered it) I have only seen super basic scents at mine.
Glad you and Kate were able to meet up and talk shop
I was totally going to comment the other day about how you’ve been neglecting Arch’s the past few months! The gooey brownie is enough to make my mouth water! Is it actually hot though or were you kidding? Is it actually ice cream or is it really a no eggs batter?
Haha. Yes, it was freshly baked – or half baked!
MMmm gooey brownie with soft serve?! YES please!
Where do you get your nails done? I’m hoping to treat myself to a pedicure this weekend, and would love a recommendation for a good place!
Ck at Barracks Road. I’ve had mixed experiences, but they are only $22 and I like most of the techs there (all but one who made me bleed!)
Thanks!
I love anything and everything, Method
The brownie had me drooling…………
I love the Method bottles. I need to order some tonight!
what a fun outing!! your pedi looks great & that salad looks really yummy!
That’s so cool that you were able to just circle how you wanted your salad! I’d love to have something like that by me lol the brownie looks delicious too!
It seems like the only way I’m going to get to experience a build-your-own salad place around here is if I open a store myself!
enjoy the few days you have left of just the 2 of you!
I mean this as a total compliment – neither of you look preggo in that pic! In such good shape!
You look so great! If it weren’t for shape your stripes were taking on that shirt, I don’t think I’d be able to tell you were pregnant. You’re absolutely glowing though, which I guess is a giveaway.
I always BYO Water! I probably do it more than I should lol I love that green nail polish!
Those soaps are SO cute! I’ll have to stop by a pick a few up
You guys make me want to go to Cville just FOR that gooey brownie.
Gooey brownies sound wonderful!

I went to target this week with the intention of buying the Orla Kelly soap and completely forgot because I got sucked into the Target time warp. That plus preggo brain = no good!
Oh yum, that salad looks good! Wish we had a place like that round here!
Ooooo I love doing build your own salad! When I order a pre made one I feel like I’m always changing it!
Seriously, what a fantastic day. New opportunities, lunch with a soon to be mom, pedicures, and shopping? Awesome!
Excited to hear more about your new project
Gooey brownie is so ridiculously good. While visiting Charlottesville with my friend this past week, we got Arch’s two days in a row, and both times I ended up mainly just eating the gooey brownie in my cup & throwing out some of the fro-yo because I was already so satisfied by the brownie part! I should just order a cup of gooey brownie alone next time, haha
