I lacking the motivation to type tonight – I can’t focus for some reason and keep thinking about chocolate!!!
[Just ate a square of dark. Feel better].
Classes went fine. Test went fine. I chugged through the day. Wish I could have spent it outside!!
I couldn’t decide what snack to eat during class so I just took a photo of all of the bars I had in my stash. Operation Bar Stash Reduction in full effect.
I ended up eating that wonderful Jazz apple around 3:30, a few bites of the KIND bar at 5 (gave the rest to Lauri) and then had half the Larabar before my test. I was going to have the other half of the Larabar on the drive home, but you’ll see why I didn’t need it in a bit…
I ate my dinner after the test at 6:30 – I Bean + Caper Sandwich on Hazelnut Cocoa Bread from Great Harvest. The bread tastes a lot like pumpernickel (and this was an awesome topping combo)
Navy beans were just mashed with some EVOO and salt
I also had a carrot with a tbsp of Futter Butter Pumpkin Seed butter a la VeggieGirl! It is GREEN and tastes like something else I’ve had before. Grass fed beef maybe!?!? It’s good, but could use some salt!
After class (which got out a bit early!) we walked back to EarthFare where our cars were parked and realized there was a wine + beer tasting going on!!
I had about 6 different tastes (and turned down many more due to my drive home!) and 2 knobby pretzels. [The Blouberg you see there is one of my very favorite white wines!!!]
I tasted this New Belgium 1554 and LOVED it so I bought a big bottle for Matt as a thank you for all of his help recently <3 I know he’s probably had it before, but he’ll love the surprise.
Once home I felt a little empty due to a smaller dinner, but I wasn’t really hungry due to a liquid dessert. But I ended up digging into the chocolate. I had a piece of dark and then remember BethT’s gourmet chocolates and had the Bourbon Pecan!
Delightful.
I’ve got to get in bed – Sarah is in Charlotte and we’re meeting for an early run!!

I love wine and chocolate together. I love going to the wine festivals where they give you a great red wine to try with a piece of chocolate. SO yummy.
WHOO HOO!! Thanks for the shout-out about the pumpkin seed butter – interesting flavor comparison, hahaha
Jessica,
I think you’ve been the first commenter 3 posts in a row!!! My Gmail comment email chain always has the first person as the name and yours has been it

I like the idea of the navy bean spread w/ just olive oil! So simple and nutritious! I love it when I find a random wine tasting! How fun!
Mmmmm…wine and chocolate! What could be better?!
Pumpkin seed butter looks…really….interesting and a little swampy -lol!
i LOVE when i find wine tastings at the store! whole foods has them all the time…
I’ve been reading for awhile, but I’m a first time commenter. Couldn’t resist, as you wrote about New Belgium beer.
I live in Denver, so the brewery is just an hour’s drive away. Their facility is almost 100% wind powered and do lots of other sustainable practices. They are awesome!
My husband is also a home brewer, so it’s pretty neat to read about Matt brewing, too.
pumpkin seed butter sounds too good
i love blouberg!
I like to doctor up pumpkin seed butter with about 1 tbsp sea salt and some lemon juice for a jar, using my Magic Bullet smoothie maker. It adds a salty flair!
And FYI, if anyone is interested in alternative nut butters, cashew is mind-blowingly good.
chocolate craving everyday!
i MUST try some great harvest bread soon!
you should do it as a giveaway!!!

I’ve got a lot of bars to eat up too, I need to start Operation Get Rid of Bar and Nut Butter Stash!
earthfare sounds so great!!!
I love random surprises like that! The other day, I walked into Whole Foods and they were doing a cooking demonstration around the idea of incorporating apples as much as possible – loved it!
Jazz apples are good. They are a nice treat when I can’t get Honeycrips apples.
I’m sure Matt enjoyed his Thank you gift. You’re so sweet.
You definitely stumbled upon the perfect post-class treat! Vino y chocolate=perfecto
Ha, sometimes all you need is a little dark chocolate
I think I may like the colour of pumpkin seed butter more than the taste!
Good night = wine + chocolate
Ha ha! I have that exact same KIND bar in my purse and I SWEAR it’s calling my name!
Love me a wine tasting like the next gal, but man, I hate it when they serve it in the same little plastic thing they dispense your medicine at the doctors!
I’ve been craving chocolate too lately- mercury must be in retrograde!
The tasting looks fun! But I am still stuck on wine and chocolate!! Enjoy your early morning run
Love the bean sandwich! That bread looks soo crusty and delish.
Jenn
That sounds like a good sandwhich, and easy to make. I should try it, I’m getting into sandwhiches more and more.
i love letting my chocolate cravings get to me
Aww it was nice of you to reward Matt. He definitely seems to have been a great help recently.
LOVE the impromptu wine and beer tasting.
What a great idea to do with beans!
1554 is one of my faves! If you ever see Session Black (from Full Sail Brewing Company), definitely give it a try. It’s a cheaper beer (that may not be available on the East Coast) but so, so good.
Sometimes you just gotta eat a little bit of chocolate! It happens to me too.
Ha, love that the pumpkin butter tasted like grass fed beef. Funny stuff.
Now, I am not sure if I want to try the pumpkin seed butter or not
I like grass fed beef and I like pumpkin seeds but I’m not sure about at the same time
If I had all those bars lying around, I’d probably eat WAY too many. I can’t control myself around them…
LOVE jazz apples… jealous of your “stash”.. i always feel better when I have an adequate supply of bars on hand!
What a fun way to blow of a little steam after your test. I’m totally with you on the bar stash… it’s so hard not to give in when you find a new brand or flavor!
I heart larabars!!!
I love New Belgium too! I went to college in Ft. Collins where it’s made, so I’m a total beer snob. My husband and I only drink New Belgium or Odells.
I love stumbling upon a lovely wine tasting! Good way to end your super busy day!
I heart wine tastings..always a good time!
That’s awesome there was a wine and beer tasting going on! What a way to end class!
hope your test went well!
You look so cute with your backpack!
pumpkin seed butter sounds…interesting!
what a fun way to end the day with a wine tasting!
Seeing the LARABAR reminded me, I wanted to make sure everybody knows about my giveaway.
I am giving away some LARABARs on my site. Just hit up this post.
I know it’s totally simple, but that sandwich looks really good. I love capers!
yay for impromptu wine tastings! new belgium beer is my favorite! If you guys ever make it to colorado, the brewery is AMAZING!
Wine and chocolate sound like the perfect end to a stressful day!
Chocolate always makes any day better!
Emmalinda,
Awesome to know! We hope to do a western brew tour someday!
Katie,
What a delicious idea! I really need a magic bullet – or some kind of small-scale blender.
Kath
Chocolate and wine….2 of my favorite things!
