Windblown & Squiggled

We REALLY lucked out on the weather today!!! What was supposed to be 50% chance of rain turned out to be gorgeous sunny skies! I think I need to stop looking at the forecast so much..

We enjoyed more beach time

2012-05-27 15.23.10

I’m alternating between this book and 50 Shades. You guys were right – 50 Shades is really corny. I’m 75% through my free sample of the first few chapters and am going to give it a bit more before I decide if I’m going to download it or not.

2012-05-27 15.33.27

I had a lot of fun watching the cutest little boy play with his mom on the beach :  ) Can’t imagine what it will be like to have a child at the beach.

2012-05-27 15.51.35

Showertime!!!

IMG_1306

We all headed out tonight – first to the local tiki bar

IMG_1308

Which is out on a pier above the beach!

IMG_1309

Drinks for all

IMG_1311

Smack dab in the middle of mojitos and rum runners was my club soda + lime

IMG_1314

Landm

IMG_1315 IMG_1329

Then we headed out to dinner at Havana’s, which is breezy and outdoors

IMG_1330

The dinner was good, but we waited 1.5 hours for our food, so there were moments of this:

IMG_1332

Crab dip tided us over

IMG_1333

Along with a few of these (I was starved!)

IMG_1335

And finally some of this:

IMG_1334

And then finally our deluxe seafood platter arrived. Karen and I split this combo of fried shrimp and oysters, fries, curried crab cake and slaw. It was tasty, but I couldn’t decide if I was full or hungry!

IMG_1338

We ended our night with our final out-on-the-town destination: Squiggly’s Ice Cream

IMG_1340

I had a heath bar in a cone – tasty!

Squiggly

It caused the baby to squiggle inside : )

1.5 hours for food is a lot! I would have eaten my family by that point, justtttt kidding!

Those fried shrimp and oysters…how could you NOT be hungry?! Love Larbs’s pensive look. Pretty eyes!

That dress looks so lovely on you! I feel like Rachel Zoe (queen of baby bump style) couldn’t have picked it a better colour/cut/print. Looks like you’re havin a blast in it too ;)

Had to add to the comments on your dress – adorable!!

Your photos of seafood make me so jealous because I’m allergic to crustaceans and your photos of shrimp, crab cakes and the previous dinner with shrimp and crab made me really hungry! I only became allergic a few years ago so I still remember what they all taste like–especially crab, as that was one of my faves.

I also think the dress looks great on you! Random question…Have you and Matt considered whether or not you might invest in a different or larger vehicle now that the baby is on the way?

We definitely do want something like a Honda Crv but I think we’re going to wait until next year to save up more first

Oh how I wish I was there eating crab dip! Not sure if Bluewater or Oceanic are still around (I’m sure they are) but sitting outside and having a drink and watching the sailboats go by and noshing on crab dip was a favorite Fri nite passtime at Bluewater, circa 2001. Wow, a decade later. Memories :)

Adorable pink dress and you and Larbs look fabulous!

I hardly ever comment, but I have to say, you look great in that dress! Pregnancy really looks good on you. I’m right behind you with my pregnancy at 18 weeks, but I already have a boy, so I am hoping for a girl this time!

I second the dress love…the bright prints look so this season and that one has just the right amount of pop. It looks smashing on you and the babe! :)

These beach photos are just speaking so loudly to me, reminding me of how badly I need a vacation by the shore!

I guess you alternate between “real” books and e-books? Which do you prefer?

Reply

30 KathEats May 28, 2012 at 8:11 am

e-books. While i love a beautiful book cover, I have always complained about holding a book while I read. The e-books are great because you don’t have to hold a heavy book and even better at night when you can lie on your side and not hold it. And I love knowing the percentage I’ve read and easy bookmarks.

It takes a couple of chapters to get to the goods in Fifty Shades, but I’m not disappointed. So far so good!

I am from Wilmington! My parents live about 15 minutes from the Ocean Grill and I know the owners! I miss Wilmington. You should try a doughnut from Britt’s near the board walk. They blow Krispy Kreme out of the water!

I’ll be interested to hear what you think of Secrets of Eden. I’ve read several of his books. He’s an interesting author. Loved The Double Bind.

Pretty dress, Kath!

Also, congrats to your sister for her recent engagement. I read her blog, too.

One more thing, have you read Double Bind by that same author?? It is one of my favorites.

Kath, if you haven’t bought 50 Shades yet don’t, I’ll loan you my reader version. I need to get my $10 worth out of it. I can’t seen to bring myself to read past the 30% I got to. Ugh!

Reply

44 KathEats May 28, 2012 at 9:03 am

Thanks but a friend loaned me all 3 of them last night!! I read a little farther…and then got to the leather room part and am not sure I’m going to like this. Mom says to keep reading – maybe it doesn’t pan out like I think

We are looking forward to visiting your bakery toward the end of June (we’ve been chatting with your hubby and getting that worked out). Enjoy the rest of your vacation!

I always say that on the Weather Channel, online weather forecast, or the news, they should reference three words at the bottom of the screen: Weather Subject To Change! — because the weather forecast is usually not right :) Anyone can go outside and predict what the weather is going to be like :)

The skies are gorgeous there!

I forget about Chris Bohjalian, The Double Bind and Skeletons at the Feast are excellent books. I have not read that one yet. Lately, a 90% change of rain means that we won’t even get a drop! You are the picture of pregnancy perfection in your pink dress (lots of alliteration there), so beautiful and you look so happy!

Reply

56 Stephanie @ Legally Blinde May 29, 2012 at 9:28 am

I love that pink dress on you – so cute! Phew, I can’t believe you had to wait 1.5 hours for dinner; that’s a loooooong time. Loving all of your beach photos and updates. I’m really impressed that you’re keeping up with blogging so well! I don’t think I’d have that much willpower. Actually, I know I wouldn’t :)

Love the dress! Curious to see how you like 50 shades of grey, I’ve been debating whether to read them.

Reply

58 KathEats May 29, 2012 at 12:38 pm

So far….eh. If you like to read about sex, you’ll like it! But it’s reallllly weird…

Reply

59 Diane May 29, 2012 at 12:47 pm

If that is the only appealing aspect of the book, no thanks. Also, be careful about reading that stuff while pregnant! The hormones can give you crazy dreams!

Reply

60 KathEats May 29, 2012 at 12:59 pm

Haha. So far, that’s all it’s about – with a bit of back story. But I’m not very far in.
