I’ve been working hard on this all week (hence being so busy!) I hope you guys like the content, photos, and expanded information. And of course, the old blog is all here! Let me know if you have any suggestions!

Now here’s the bad news……….

For the first time in 3 months of blogging, I accidentally deleted all of my photos for the day. I’m seriously on the verge of tears because I had so many great photos to share tonight!!

I’ll give a quick recap of my day, but I know it’s not the same without photos!

Here’s the ONLY photo that made it!!! Me on the lightrail platform in my college outfit :)


The Game

Duke won, but only by a few points! While there I had an acid water (Diet Coke) and 2 sips of the husbands beer (insert good picture here!).


We got home around 2:30 and I was pretty hungry. We made chicken, avocado, spinach and tomato sandwiches and had apple slices. I had a great photo!

Lunch calories: 369

Wine Tasting

We went to a wine tasting with my college roommate and her boyfriend (insert another cute picture here!) As predicted, I drank too much. But not too-too much! I’m guessing I had about 2 glasses. The wines were all high-quality and I just couldn’t resist when I tried one Pinot and the person suggested I try the contrasting region’s version. You can tell, wine tastings are a weakness of mine! Anyways, I tried about 20-25 wines, but I did pour some out and they do only pour about 1/3 an oz-1/2 an oz per taste. I was more than a little tipsy when we got home, and didn’t really want to be, but it passed soon enough.

At the tasting I had 2 flatbread triangles, a bunch of grapes, a bite of brie and an orange slice.

Tasting calories: ~400. Yikes!


Husband and I made salmon casserole. Sadly, the beautiful photos are gone and I don’t have the heart to explain the recipe. We basically used the one on the back of the Cream of Celery soup can but bulked it up with mushrooms and peppers. I do have leftovers, so you’ll get to see those tomorrow.

And I had hot tea after dinner….

Dinner calories: 350

We were going to walk to the movie rental store to rent Waitress but I just had to finish this new blog tonight so to the computer it was! But sadly, I missed my afternoon walk :(
Total Saturday calories: 1672

-465 through morning workout

= net of 1207.

I’m sorry to say too many calories came from wine today. Tomorrow I’ll focus on getting some fresh, healthy meals!

1. Thank you SO much for the Napa info. VERY helpful. I'm going to sort through your suggestions and I'll get back to you if any more questions pop up.

2. LOVE the new blog! I really like that we can see the original post while posting comments because I always used to forget what I wanted to say once I opened the comments page. I'm dying to see Waitress, but I think this was time better spent! Also very happy to see a recipe section…I'm always trying to find them in your old entries. The only thing people may not like is that an email address is required to post comments. That might scare off some of the anonymous posters. On a related note, I guess you know my real name now (assuming you can see the email address)! I use part of my middle name online because law firms search us all over the internet before hiring us and I don't want them knowing that I agonize over pizza and weigh my peanut butter! Also, I'm a little paranoid about that stuff ;).

3. What an adorable pic! You look more Reese Witherspoony than ever.

4. I made veggie (well, just broccoli) Annie's whole wheat mac tonight and I also couldn't believe what a massive bowl it made! Another great suggestion!

P.S. I didn't know you were on a magazine cover! (LOL at the Vegas showgirl comment).

And, looking over your before and after pics I CANNOT believe how different you look. I honestly didn't know that 30 lbs could change someone's appearance that much (not that you looked bad before, but after losing the weight even your face changed a lot)…it's actually very inspiring! I usually don't think of 30 lbs as so much weight, but I guess it really does make a difference…can't wait to get it off of myself!

I'm a college student who started reading your blog about a week ago and absolutely love it!! Your creativity w/your meals and your overall enthusiasm are really inspiring. I found out that I'm allergic to gluten and dairy about a year ago, and I really like how I can alter most of your recipes to fit my diet since you avoid processed/"fake" ingredients. I just want to encourage people who are making changes in their lifestyles to stick with it…it definitely gets easier with time. Make sure to enjoy and appreciate the food that you eat-it's the key to feeling satisfied. Kath is a great example of this! :)

I took off the requirement for the email. But I wish I could require people to just put a name! I hate having to respond to Anon all the time!……I can't stand to look at my before photos. How did I let myself get like that? And the worst part is I didn't really feel that overweight until the breaking point of Christmas 2004. But what I say over and over is that when I was that much overweight I NEVER would have thought I could lose this much. I just kept going though!

Yes, I wear a heart rate monitor. Check the FAQs for the info :)

I wish I had the time to do yoga more. I haven't been in a while! I'll check out that cookbook the next time I'm in Barnes and Noble!

Kath, the new site is WONDERFUL! I loved looking at the pictures and reading it all :) I noticed it said you sometimes do yoga on sundays? I love yoga and used to do it way more often when i was in college but now only get to once a week….i think you would really like the cookbook ""Yogi in the Kitchen" by Elaine Gavalas. Its all easy and delicious veggie meals…very healthy…and very yummy! keep up the great work!
