Welcome BlogHer!

February 15, 2008

Thanks to you all for expressing your support of an ad on KERF!

I’ve been working with BlogHer, a community and network of women bloggers, to debut my first ad. In the next few hours (or days) you’ll notice a new BlogHer advertising network ad in the sidebar. The ads within the window will rotate each day, and many of them are actually pretty interesting – charitable donation opportunities, tips and tidbits, and links to other blogs in the women’s network. My greatest hope is that the ad will not only earn KERF a few extra dollars, but that the information will be helpful and fun to you readers as well.

Thank you all 1,000 times over for your loyal reading and comments each day!

Kath

BlogHer certainly IS fortunate to have added you; and I’m LOVING the ad for The Humane Society, which is currently on your blog – it is an amazing organization that desperately needs aid and donations!!

hey all! i have a question: i am 18 years old and trying to loose only 4lbs (i gained about 7 over the break from my regular 130 and have managed to loose three). i have been eating about 1500-2000 calories a day and exercising for 30 minutes everyday. i had been seeing great results, but then the weirdest thing happened! i went on a huge binge (3500 calories!!) and since then, i’ve been eating a lot and can’t seem to get back to 1500+calories a day. somedays i can, but then a few short days later i’ll binge again! i’m not depriving myself or anything (i eat what i’m craving and even have my favorite desserts, and when i binge it’s not b/c i can’t have the food, it’s just that i love eating all the different foods at once-usually cereal, then oatmeal and pb, then a sandwich, cookies, a big variety!) i’ve been struggling to keep this under control but haven’t been successful! so far, i’ve only gained back 2lbs but am afraid of bigger consequences!! can anyone-kath especially-give me tips on cutting back down to weight-loss eating amounts? i really enjoy eating decent size meals, i just love food and always find myself eating the meals that i have planned for the next day b/c i just can’t wait to try them! kath, i know you plan your meals ahead, how do you keep from eating them THEN?!

That’s great, I’m sure you two could really use the money with you in school and all. Thanks for picking a non-obtrusive, relevant advertising source!

That is great Kath! The ads look nice and not distracting and you definitely deserve any money you receive.

BlogHer is an amazing network of women—I’m a big fan and joined recently :) . I think the ads they offer tend to be more relevant and appropriate than Google ads, and I hope they bring in a little helpful revenue while you’re in the midst of your time as a student.

To All,
Thanks so much for the continued support!

Ana,
It’s always tough to get back on track after a slip up, but I think the best way to re-motivate yourself is to 1) Get a few good workouts in 2) Have a fridge stocked full of healthy, fresh foods. If you have all these great veggies and fruits and fun recipes to make, you won’t get bored and eat too much of your staples, like cereals and other “boredom” foods. Hope that helps!

Kath
