Weekend With Caitlin + Henry

July 30, 2013

We had some special visitors this weekend!!

Caitlin and Henry made the trek up to Cville for some solid play time. Both the mamas and the babies played hard together!

We sipped wine during naptime, blew bubbles on the porch, picnicked and pranced in the grass at Fridays After Five, watched Mad Men over Sweet Haus cupcakes, went on an hour-long morning run, ate No Bull Burgers at the farmer’s market, splashed around in the community pool, grilled Twin Oaks Tofu and veggies in our backyard, learned to share, had a girls’ night out bar hopping and said a sad farewell on Sunday morning. Can’t wait to get together again!

Tried the new restaurant Just Curry and loved it! Especially the plantains : )

I love the pictures looks like such a fun time together. And love that the kiddos got to hang out too. They’re so darn cute.

this comment is not meant to be snarky or rude, but for someone who “didn’t like babies” (matt), he seems enamored with your son and henry! he’s pretty much a natural.

9 Kori July 30, 2013 at 10:19 am

It looks and sounds like you two had a fabulous weekend! I miss Cville. I can’t wait to come back with Kase and try more restaurants. :)

12 Aisling @ Sunny Side Up July 30, 2013 at 10:44 am

Friendship fun.. the best!

13 Lauren @ The Highlands Life July 30, 2013 at 11:04 am

What a great weekend! It’s always so refreshing to have friends visiting, even when there are kids involved.

14 Kim July 30, 2013 at 11:11 am

It’s always fun to catch up with old friends! Looks like you two (or four, if you include the little ones) had a great time together!

15 Ellen @ Wannabe Health Nut July 30, 2013 at 11:28 am

What a fun weekend! I love that two of my favorite bloggers are such good friends. :)

16 Carly @ Snack Therapy July 30, 2013 at 11:47 am

Baby cuteness OVERLOAD! I’m always jealous of your farmers’ market eats. Not to mention those grilled veggies. Mmm. Do you season/marinate them, or just throw ’em on the grill?

17 KathEats July 30, 2013 at 12:12 pm

we sMothered them in pesto!

18 Kinsey July 30, 2013 at 12:30 pm

What’s on the eggplant? Paprika? Whatever it is, it looks scrumptious!

19 KathEats July 30, 2013 at 12:33 pm

Smoked paprika yes!

20 Kinsey July 30, 2013 at 1:15 pm

Yum! I had it one some roasted sweet potato fries last night. Isn’t it just delicious?

21 Heather July 30, 2013 at 1:17 pm

I’m curious, what kind of bib is Mazen wearing? And do you like it? I’m sick of cleaning the fabric ones from my messy 10 month old eater and that looks like it’d be so simple to clean.

22 KathEats July 30, 2013 at 2:02 pm

It’s the Tommy Tippy kind – we love them!

23 Kristin July 30, 2013 at 1:21 pm

So fun! Do you mind if I ask where you got the striped pink shirt? love it!!!!

24 KathEats July 30, 2013 at 2:01 pm

It’s from LOFT : )

25 [email protected] July 30, 2013 at 1:57 pm

Very pretty ladies and super cute babies! Love Caitlin’s hair! Seriously making me want a bob! Sounds like you guys had an awesome fun filled weekend!

26 Sarah July 30, 2013 at 2:16 pm

Looks like so much fun and yes those veggies look amazing! I’m a longtime reader but never comment. Sorry 😉 I’m hoping to nurse my 6 week old son for a year and am always curious about your take on drinking and nursing. I have beer/wine but have been dying for a margarita! And what do you do on girls nights out? Give him a pumped bottle? Sorry for the random question but I feel like you’re a great person to ask 😉 Mazen is adorable btw!

27 KathEats July 30, 2013 at 2:37 pm

When I go out I usually nurse around 7 and then go – he goes to bed shortly after. So I don’t nurse again for 12 hours. Not that I ever do, but if I wanted to get sloshed I would be sober by the time 12 hours later rolled around : ) Obviously I couldn’t have done this before sleep training or I would have needed to nurse during the night.

28 Kaila @healthyhelperblog! July 30, 2013 at 2:24 pm

Looks like you two had a very full and FUN weekend! I love when friends come to visit from out of town! It makes catching up all the more special!

Looks like a fun weekend! The pics of Matt rolling around with the boys are great!

Who’s the girl in the pic with you, Caitlin, and the kids?

31 KathEats July 30, 2013 at 3:26 pm

33 Jill July 30, 2013 at 8:09 pm

35 Ana July 30, 2013 at 4:26 pm

Nice pics, sounds like an awesome weekend!
Can I ask what is it that the girl is holding on the second picture that looks like a popsicle? Is is an iphone case? looks like something like that or a baby toy! I just like colorful things and was curious!!
As always all your food looks amazing, you are an amazing inspiration to me on eating healthy and living a balanced life Kath!

36 KathEats July 30, 2013 at 4:32 pm

It’s a bubbles container!

37 Patricia July 30, 2013 at 4:35 pm

Such cute pictures!

38 Emily @ Life on Food July 30, 2013 at 5:28 pm

Your pictures are great. The one of Matt and the two boys climbing him is the best.

39 Jill July 30, 2013 at 5:56 pm

You guys are so so beautiful. I want your skin and glow and fit beauty and smiles. Ha…and I’ve had no kids, so u guys are doing something right.

What is the age difference? Henry looks so much older than Mazen, but I’m not good with babies and ages, etc :)

40 Elisabeth July 30, 2013 at 8:39 pm

I love the pictures of Matt & the boys! So adorable :)

41 Amy @ www.funfoodiefamily.wordpress.com July 30, 2013 at 9:23 pm

Wonderful baby pics! My favorite is the one with a sweet munchkin “planking.” Baby Planking is not a new phenomenon, but always adorbs!

p.s. Our almost empty wine glasses match! =)
What is your fave red wine?

42 Christina @ The Beautiful Balance July 30, 2013 at 9:25 pm

How fun!! Those boys are so adorable together!

43 Rachael July 31, 2013 at 4:16 am

Awww looks like you all had a great time, I love time together with friends and family :)

44 char eats greens July 31, 2013 at 7:10 am

They are both two very cute little boys and very pretty mamas!!! Looks like a lot of fun!! As always, love all the eats!! I really need to find Twin Oaks tofu!! I wonder if they have it in Canada somewhere!!

45 KathEats July 31, 2013 at 7:16 am

it’s a Virginia Company so I doubt it :-(

46 Charise August 1, 2013 at 9:10 am

I live in Ohio and our Whole Foods usually carries one or two types of the Twin Oaks. Granted, I’m a lot closer to Virginia than Canada is, but might be worth a check!

47 KathEats August 1, 2013 at 9:13 am

That’s good to hear!

48 Alyssa July 31, 2013 at 12:15 pm

What fun! So nice to have someone in the same stage of life with similar interests to bond with :-) Oh and I have that same shirt, Kath! Love it!

49 Alex July 31, 2013 at 2:51 pm

I always love your pictures. Besides having really great photography skills, you edit them so well and it always makes visiting your blog a lot of fun! So cool to see you and Caitlin together! Also, that picture of Mazen next to Henry in the stroller is adorable–he looks like he’s the one who is tired from a run!

50 Mom July 31, 2013 at 6:12 pm

Henry is adorable and looks so smart! Fun for Maze to have his own house guest.

51 strawberry August 1, 2013 at 9:02 am

kath, you guys eat a lot of bread. how do you work it out having a gluten-free friend around the house? just curious as I am GF myself. never sure how my hosts feel.

52 KathEats August 1, 2013 at 9:13 am

I made a big pot or quinoa to have on hand for her and got her a few of her favorite foods. She brought some of her own bread too. Since she’s not sensitive to gluten dust, having bread around was no big deal.

53 Zoe @ Chocolate Covered Chia August 1, 2013 at 6:35 pm

You have such a beautiful family, Kath!

54 Dana August 1, 2013 at 8:38 pm

My son has that remote Mazen is holding. He’s obsessed with it :)

55 Neil Butterfield August 3, 2013 at 5:41 am

That no bull burger does look man-sized!!! Yumbo :-)
