Afternoon turned into evening when Matt came home. We hung on the porch for a bit…with two new friends
I cannot believe we have a new orange cat that lives next door. We are fast friends!!
El Leon was one, and a bottle of vino was #2. This bottle was from Zonin’s Rocca di Montemassi, an Italian estate in Tuscany. Gosh I would love to go to Tuscany. I just love that word!! I like to think this was Tuscany in a bottle. The company also owns Barboursville here in Cville and a friend who works there sent me a handful of their wines. This one was 100% Sangiovese, a bit smoky and herby.
Faith and Tate invited us over for dinner tonight – yet we held the event at the new house to test it out!
They brought shrimp, which Tate cooked in a garlic + butter sauce, along with salad, which Faith assembled. I toasted up some of Matt’s bread while he chilled!
F+T helped us polish off the first wine, so we opened a second – from the same bunch. Matt and I both loved this Ripasso even more – it was smoother with lots of cherry flavor and went really well with dinner.
Couldn’t get enough of this delicious dinner!
For dessert we had bakery sweets – scuffins and Savannah bars. GAH they are so good!!
Nite!

What a great night – dinner, friends and wine!
Great night! Love the plump, juicy shrimp!!
Looks like a wonderful night! Those Savannah bars always look amazing !
Dinner and wine looks amazing that cat on the other hand looks ready to attack someone lol
ahhh savannah bars look so good! I’m going to have to figure out how to get a hold of some!
Have you thought of getting your own cat or dog?
The cats seem to love you both whereever you reside!
Lovely dinner!

Awww! LOVE the name! How awesome that your new place has an orange cat for you to make friends with
What a great night! Sleep tight!
I found an El Leon/Tigre look alike in the neighborhood the other day!! Thought of you.
I spent 9 months studying abroad in Florence, and can say it was hands down the BEST experience of my life. It was during my time in Florence that I began to take more interest in eating real and whole foods, partly because that’s a huge part of their culture and also because it was around that time that I discovered food blogs! The wine also can’t be beat. I went wine tasting in the fall and it was absolutely perfect. If you travel to Toscana (as they call it in Italy) I would go during the fall or spring- beat the heat and the crowds!
I have to agree- Florence is amazing. I was only there for a few days, but from what we saw and ate it’s officially one of my favorite places in the world!
I love the back of Matt’s shirt — that baker’s hat + smiley face is too cute!
Aww! I love El Leon!
I have an orange cat who visits me on my porch occasionally too. I think everyone needs one! You simply can’t have a bad day when a cute, loving cat greets you at the door.
Barboursville wines are some of my favorites in VA. How awesome that you have the Tuscany hookup!
Italian wines are a favorite of mine
Looks like a great evening!
I love when wine pairs perfectly with a meal/dessert/food. Mmm!
And I could seriously never work in a bakery… if those baked treats surrounded me all.day.long I would be in big trouble!
Awww, so cute that you have new furry friends already!! El Leon is muy adorable.
You might have to buy Zyrtec in bulk if you have allergies like I do, lol.
Dinner looks delish!
Sweet! Kitty is super cute and wine appears very tasty (and relaxing)…Probably just what you need after all that moving! Drink up!
I had my first Savannah bar yesterday at the Great Harvest in Las Vegas! It was AMAZING!
Scuffins, savannah bars, time with your hubs, wine…fabulous.
You love the word Tuscany..
I love the word Sangiovese. Reminds me of all the vineyard hopping I used to do and tasting flights and all that wine that hubby and I used to drink!
Ooh… that second wine sounds amazing! I love a nice glass of red wine!! I came of age when I lived in Germany, and I think it helped mould me into the wine-lover I am!
LOVE love love the new orange cat
Love.
This time next week I’ll be about to hit Tuscany. After going to the Piedmont region – Nebbiolo is my second favorite. First is Amarone… which I’ll be sampling on Saturday – woot woot!
If you haven’t been you HAVE to plan a trip!
Jealous!
you and cats! ah-choo (from me!)
Your dinner tonight looked amazing. We’re vacationing & had shrimp tonight, but yours looks WAY better. What was in that salad…looks yum.
I am loving shrimp/calimari recently…so yum with truffle oil!
Nice bottle of wine you got there! We used to sell it at a restaurant I worked in for $70+ a bottle! (the ripasso)
oh my gosh – I had no idea! It was really good!
Cannot believe you have yet another orange cat stalker! Glad you tried out dinner in the new place
Looks delicious!
I love El Lion! He looks like he’s a great new friend.
I would love to go to Tuscany too! But I guess drinking Tuscan wine for now will have to suffice.
Dinner sounds and looks great! I like your new cat friend
Haha, so fitting that a new cat has found your new home.
Glad it was a good night.
Orange kitty = good luck! Dinner looked wonderful.
Stray animals always flock to you guys, wherever you are! Must be because they know you always have those amazing baked goods around!
Hope that cat has tail insurance just in case things follow pattern of the tig!
HA!
It seems like orange cats are drawn to y’all
El Leon is so CUTE! I hate being allergic to cats! If they did not make my husband and I an itchy mess, I would totally adopt one!
So funny that you have another cat visiting your house! They must really like you.
Dinner looks fabulous!
looks like it was a TASTY night
Yumm.
That second bottle of wine sounds delicious! You are a cat lady apparently!
Sad I won’t hear about El Tigre anymore, but do love the addition of El Leon. He’s a cutie! But all orange cats are cute
That toasted bread looks absolutely incredible. And, I want to be friends with Tate and Faith!! You guys always look like you have the best nights with them! I’m jealous!
Also – it really is too funny that you have another orange cat! Haha.
I love that you have evening plans like this during a weeknight. We always wait until the weekend to make plans with friends, but I think I would enjoy my week nights more if we had plans to look forward to once a week or so.
El Leon is a cutie!
Awwww, El Leon reminds me of our kitty Dexter, who passed away last month. Orange kitties are the best.
