Since I saw this video I've been cooking my large flake quaker oats in half milk, half water, stirring in vanilla, cinnamon, and a little real maple syrup at the end. Cooking in milk does make it taste so much creamier and adding the vanilla and cinnamon makes it taste amazing! Put in in my preheated little Thermos and eat it when I get to work, and it's still piping hot and thickened to the perfect consistency. Thanks for the tips:) I used to just cook them in water and top with brown sugar and milk, which was OK, but this is just way better.

Okay, definitely going to try your method next time I'm making oats! Also, I thought I was the only one who -had- to eat the film on the bottom of the pot, hah! It's so yummy, can't help myself!

Maybe this is sacrilege, but do you think this would turn out okay with either all water or milk substitute? Maybe almond milk?

Oh.my.gosh. This was wonderful!! I have always microwaved by oats, not sure why, and always just choked it down, not really enjoying the flavor or texture. This was the BEST bowl of oatmeal I have eaten in my life. Even my 4 year old liked it! I made it just like your video, and added almond butter, jam, and chia seeds. The pillows of cut banana were like heaven. From now on, I will always take the few extra minutes to make my oatmeal this way. Thank you!!

I'm not even sure how I jumped from one blog to another and stumbled upon yours - but I'm so glad I did!! Thank you!!

Yes, definitely. Quick cooking have been chopped up so there is more surface area, therefore reduced cooking time. I'd recommend old fashioned rolled!

Last question... Is there a difference when you use quick-cooking oats rather than old-fashioned oats? I still cook the quick-cooking oats on the stove now.

Understandable! I plan on trying this tomorrow! I'm going to try to make a single serving though since I only cook for me!
