We are [hopefully] flying safely through the airwaves of the East Coast at the moment, en route from Charlottesville to New York to Boston.
Larbs moved to Boston after graduating college in 2008 to pursue a graduate degree in school psychology at Northeastern. She’s nearing the end of 3 years and is in the middle of a full-time internship at the moment [read about it on her blog, Taking Back My Twenties!]
Her studly boyfriend, Matt, moved with her to Boston and works in consulting. Since Matt was recently accepted to Duke’s Fuqua School Of Business to pursue an MBA, they’ll be moving back south to Durham next summer. So this may be our FINAL trip to Boston (at least to visit them!)
This is my third trip to visit – read about previous ones below!

If I’ve learned anything in 3.25 years of blogging it’s that taking photos of an airplane is TOUGH. Imagine getting everything all laid out on your tray table and realizing your camera is packed at the bottom of your bag below the seat. Or that your lens is too cropped to get the lunch in view without standing up. Hence, a pre-photographed (and blogged!) lunch:
Our connection is just 29 minutes in LaGuardia, so you can bet I’m not going to gamble with trying to get something to eat there. How about something fresh and fun!
I used the last two English muffins to make us cheese + jam sandwiches. Threw on some neutral spinach for nutrients and color! I have pumpkin butter, Matt has Crofter’s.
I also sliced up the last of our veggies into stix
We also each get an apple. Easy to pack, easy to eat.
And because US Airways doesn’t quite get it…
Romantic lunch for two <3

you are so fancy with your little ribbon tied around your veggie sticks – LOVE IT! too cute
cute food always tastes more delicious, doesn’t it?
Those veggies look so colorful! Love all the pics!
Have a great time in Boston!
I bet all the passengers were majorly jealous of your lunch…especially the dessert
.
I’m up in the air right now, too! We’re on our way to L.A. We always bring food with us on flights – make things so much easier/cheaper/healthier. Safe travels!
Your veg looks cute all done up with ribbon.
Wish I had packed lunch for my flights/airport time last weekend.
Though the flights themselves were short (Only going from San Francisco to Orange County, so about 1.25 hours), I wound up running short on time when heading out to the airport on Friday morning when departing for my trip. I was STARVING and couldn’t wait, so I had to buy airport food when I got there. Then my flight coming home got delayed so I had to eat at the airport again. Talk about mucho dinero spent that I could not afford!
I’m so glad you agree that spinach is neutral! I made a lot of peanut butter and spinach sandwiches this summer to take hiking, and none of my coworkers got it. I got them to try my green monsters, but they wouldn’t believe that sandwich could be tasty.
Adorable! You’re such a great planner!
I would love to do Sunday evening at 8 in the back bay. Need some suggestions? Looking forward to it… SAFE TRAVELS!
We’re meeting at Expresso Royale, 44 Gainsborough Street at 8PM on Sunday. Pass it on!
Love your accessorized veggies!!
That is the cutest little lunch you packed. Everyone else will be so jealous!! And Congrats to Matt on the Duke acceptance!! My cousin went there for her MBA and loved it.

Such a pretty and fancy lunch, I usually end up taking crappy cell phone pics on the flight – your pics are much better.
I love your little veggie bundle!! Bet you guys had the best meal on the plane lol
I’d love to visit Boston one day. Have fun!
I LOVE WHEN YOU LINK TO OLD POSTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You really think her boyfriend is studly, eh? You mentioned it twice.
Oops! Copy and paste error!
I’ve never tried cheese + jam! I bet it is a delicious combo.
OK the ribbon on the veggies is so cute
Have a safe flight!
love the veggies with the bow… maybe you’ll start a new trend- “give the gift of veggies for a healthy life”.
(if that doesn’t work, i have pondered starting a national adopt a rabbit campaign: “eat more veggies than your small rabbit!”.) have fun in boston! have lots of dunkin’s french vanilla regular to keep you warm!
Haha! How cute! I’ve never thought to bring my own food for the plane, but now I will!
how cute are those veggie sticks!? very colorful : )
Packing lunch is so much fun! It always tastes better than at home, too. lol
Have a safe trip!!
I love packing meals for plane and car trips. So fun, and your lunches look so cute.
Wish I was in MA while you’re there to join for the meet up. Have a great time in Boston.
I so pack my hobo snacks when I travel! I hate not being able to find food and I am not nice when I am hungry! Apples are the perfect take along food as are sandwiches and veggies! Nice lunch and I hope the flight is going well!
Love the idea of photographing food before flight
And look at how colorful those foods are!!!!! Yumm!!
SO much better than eating the food they give you on the plane. If you can call it food! I love that you make it look cute.
I LOVE your lunch
Especially the cute veggie stick bundle.
Heidi xo

Have a great time visiting your sister!
I am almost positive I just saw you ay Starbucks on boylston, but I didn’t even know you were in Boston so I looked on my phone wondering and you are! Weird
THAT WAS ME!!!!!!!!!!
Oh oh! I had to tell you… the last Alaska Air flight I was on passed out Biscoff cookies. First time I have had one!
I love that you wrapped the veggies in ribbon. Such a cute touch!
Your veggies look so cute all wrapped up like that!
what a cute lunch! the ribbon is so precious!
I adore Boston. I can’t wait to see what you all do there!
I heart Boston! It’s one of my favorite cities.
HAVE FUN!
Why won’t airplanes start serving food like that? Would definitely make the 30 hours trip from my city to the East Coast of America far more pleasant…
Is it just me, or does Larbs’ boyfriend look like Matt? Haha.
I love the ribbon tying up the veggies. So cute.
Hmmm that English muffinwich looks sooooooo good!!!
I love the way you tied your veggies up. Sure makes them look too cute to eat!
Airtran had Biscoff when I flew to DC from ATL for Thanksgiving, but they didn’t have it on the way back. Only pretzels. Boo.
What kind of cheese is that? It looks good!
