Mmmm both sound delicious! I still have yet to try cookie butter…but everyone seems to love it! If only I had a trader joes!
How nice of you to give Matt a “manly” spoon. I don’t know that I’d have shared cookie butter though.
I love making oats for two! I say to the boyfriend, “I made you breakfast because I love you and for your cholesterol.” Not sure how much he appreciates that.
So cute! I already ate breakfast, and you made me hungry again!
Both great looking breakfasts!
So cute! I haven’t had overnight oats in SO long, but I might have to soon!
Love the oats in those jars! Have a fun adventure.
I need an adventure.
So cute! Have a great day
Oooh have fun! Can’t wait to hear about it!
Can’t wait to hear about this adventure!! Haha and I love the guy spoon
I love that you guys shared similar breakfasts this morning. Do you guys tend to eat a lot of the same types of breakfasts or does it always vary?
Have a lovely morning!
Well most mornings he eats bread at the bakery
But on the weekends or special occasions we eat the same thing
Try as I may… my fiance just doesn’t care for oatmeal. He is a bagel or muffin man all the way!
I can’t get Greg to go for overnight oats. Don’t know why- they are awesome! He is just not an “oatmeal guy.”
Way to leave us with a cliff-hanger. Have fun on the adventure!
Sadly I cant really eat sugar or carbs..Do you mainly eat oatmeat for breakt or do egg type dishes too? I will take a look through your recipes
Diana,
There seem to be two kinds of people in the world: those who prefer carb-y breakfasts and those who like savory eggs, veggies, and things. I’m definitely in the card group – in fact, most of the time eggs sound horrible to me first thing in the morning but I love them for lunch and dinner! I do eat them on occasion, but most of my breakfasts revolve around oats or whole grains.
Was the spoon’s position purposely arranged like that or just on accident? haha
Have fun on whatever adventure you’re off on!
SEXY oats! That’s what my hubby calls them. Watch out! hahahaha
I love it when my husband lets me make breakfast for him! It doesn’t happen often…have fun on your adventure!
Have an amazing trip!
Adorable! And love how the “masculine spoon” is leaning towards the woman
Have fun! Looks like you’re off to a great start!
too cute! love how bright it all looks!
Yum…I want some:)
I love having breakfast ready and waiting for me in the good! Happy Adventures!
I have read your blog for several months and really enjoy it. I like it because the meals are fairly simple, there is a variety of foods, and yet healthy. My question is, I would like to loose some weight and I know you are a R.D. – any recomendations besides the obvious (sugar, fat, junk)… Would you jump start and do South Beach, would you eliminate certain things? I tried to write down all I eat, but that is a pain in the neck. I am a pre-diabetic and this is the year I want to become healthy and fit – I’ll be 60… Thank you so much for any input – I appreciate it and don’t want to take too much of your time. Have a nice weekend!
Hey Susan,
I would definitely not recommend any diets out there – with maybe the exception of Weight Watchers because it doesn’t eliminate food groups. My recommendations would be:
Cut way back on sugar and desserts – have them only at special occasions or ‘worth it’ times
Cut way back on alcohol – same criteria as desserts
Get rid of/donate the junk food in your house if it’s tempting you (it will either be waste or waist!)
Move for an hour everyday – this can be walking in short 10 minute sessions or more intense gym sessions
Focus on the quality of foods you eat – eat real food! Choose an apple and almonds over a Clif bar or a piece of quality dark chocolate over a cup of fat-free ice cream.
Eat veggies at every lunch and dinner (and consider reading the book Superfoods HealthStyle
Sip water, tea and seltzer – use milk and juice (and alcohol and sodas!) sparingly
Have a protein, carb and fat at every meal/snack
Create a flexible meal plan and do a bit of prep on the weekends if you’re very busy
Stock your fridge with your favorite whole foods
Good luck!
Thank you so very much for your suggestions – I appreciate it. I’ll actually be going to Whole Foods this weekend…
Have a wonderful trip and weekend!
Can’t beat that breakfast (and I love Matt’s spoon. I want that flatware!)
Have a wonderful adventure guys
Oooooooh I love adventures! I like to think every day can be an adventure…today’s adventure involved trudging through the snow with the wheaten terrier we are taking care of. I think he found every stick out there and investigated every tree and telephone pole. We’ll have another adventure date this afternoon. Have fun on your adventure!
If I handed my husband oatmeal in a jar he’d look at me like I had 3 heads.
Look forward to hearing about the adventure!
Love the masculine and feminine spoons!
Good luck and have fun on your adventure!
Enjoy your adventure!!
I really want to buy Coach’s Oats, saw them at the Costco in hawaii when we were on vacation but haven’t yet found them locally (even at the Glen Allen Costco)….

Can’t wait to hear about the adventure!
And on a Friday?? Good for you
Have fun!
An adventure!? I can’t wait to hear about it!
Jealous! I mindlessly threw out my peanut butter jar and completely forgot to make overnight oats in it
Could you tell me what Coach’s oats and Cookie butter are?
Thanks!
Sure!
Coach’s Oats are steel cut oats that have been cracked so they cook up super fast. They have the hearty texture of steel cut but the cooking time of rolled. http://coachsoats.com/
Cookie butter is a Trader Joe’s product that is like a peanut butter but tastes like gingerbread cookies. It was inspired by Specloos aka Biscoff spreads. It’s not a health food, but it is incredibly delicious. Think chocolate ganache texture.
Thanks, Kath! The Coach’s oats sound amazing. I live in Canada, so there is no Trader Joe’s here. I’ll have to try some the next time I’m in Philly visiting relatives!
Cute post! I just tried over night oats the other morning and they were pretty good!
I’m not sure anyone will see this or not, hopefully. I am interested in using mason jars to make the overnight oatmeal in the mornings (brilliant idea btw) i was wondering though, i’ve never used mason jars before. i’m reading about sterilizing them, is that necessary if i plan on just using them to make overnight oatmeal? or is that only for people that are canning/preserving food for a period of time?
obviously, i’ll give them a good rinse with soap and hot water before using them, but just curious if that extra step of sterilization is necessary.
stupid question i know. thanks for any feedback
If you’re just using them like a bowl, washing properly or dishwashering should be just fine. If you’re going to can or jam in them, you do want to sterilize.
Great! thanks for the quick reply! love this site!
