Tis A Gift To Be Simple

May 25, 2012

The view from our bed

I was up from 5-6am this morning with a squirming baby who would not settle down! I often wonder if he squirms all night and I just happened to wake up for another reason and it prevented me from going back to sleep or if this was an unusual amount of kicking that woke me up. I tend to think the former because I finally went and had a few sips of OJ from the fridge and was able to fall right back to sleep. Juice does it every time. Miracle.

The lazy beach days have begun. No one had energy to do anything other than pour cereal and milk in a bowl for breakfast! I complemented mine with Cville Cluster Granola and sunflower butter!

I’m just going to pretend I didn’t read about this:

And head out to the sun!

Looks heavenly!!! Have a great time!!

Side note: I found the water babies pure and simple for $8.97. At ….Walmart *shiver* ….. Lol! I thought I would share, though I doubt the 2 cent saving is worth the trip to Wally world!!! BUT thank you for doing the research and recommending a great brand! :).

Will be hoping that the weather situation moves back out into the Atlantic. No need to ruin a good vacation after all.

14 Cait @ Beyond Bananas May 25, 2012 at 9:02 am

16 Silvia @ skinny jeans food May 25, 2012 at 9:18 am

When I looked at your “our view from the bedroom” picture, I thought, oophs, that could look a lot different in a few days.

17 The Mrs @ Success Along the Weigh May 25, 2012 at 9:35 am

20 kristen @ verbs and vignettes May 25, 2012 at 9:57 am

oh my gosh don’t even worry about the weather forecasts. the morning and super easy breakfast look divine. forecasts are just predictions anyway. we had to leave NC early last summer because of a crazy hurricane, but the rest of the trip was just so relaxing and awesome! :-)

21 Chelsea @ Designs on Dinner May 25, 2012 at 10:37 am

A beautiful view. Hope you enjoy your fun in the sun!

22 Andrea @ The Skinny Chronicles May 25, 2012 at 10:41 am

I am sure if anyone can make a tropical storm change directions, it’s you Kath. Enjoy your vacation! Lovely view!

23 KathEats May 25, 2012 at 11:36 am

‘cept for the one that came on our wedding day!

24 Sarah May 25, 2012 at 12:36 pm

Well then tropical storms must be a sign of good luck for you :)

25 Lauren @ Oatmeal after Spinning May 25, 2012 at 10:42 am

Guess the baby was just as excited about vacation as you are!
I’ll keep my fingers crossed for good weather for you. It’s supposed to be hot, sticky and summery all weekend here! YES :)

26 Katie @ Peace Love & Oats May 25, 2012 at 10:44 am

Enjoy the sun before that storm comes!

27 wesley @ the way home May 25, 2012 at 10:50 am

So jealous. I’ve never even thought to put a nut butter in dry cereal! That looks amazing. I hope it doesn’t rain all weekend for you, but I also relish in some rainy days at the beach where you literally don’t have to do anything, even walk down to the beach! Thanks for posting on your vacay.

28 Claire @ Live and Love to Eat May 25, 2012 at 10:59 am

Eh, those weather people never get it right! ;)

29 Laura @ She Eats Well May 25, 2012 at 11:15 am

Enjoy your beach time. I think the sound of the ocean is so calming.

30 Lindsey May 25, 2012 at 11:26 am

Eeek! Hope the storms stay out of your area! Enjoy that gorgeous view from bed :-)

31 Averie @ Averie Cooks May 25, 2012 at 11:26 am

Hopefully you guys will be out of there before anything significant materializes. Thanks for that beach shot. I have so many memories waking up to that sunrise and running on W.B. Wow…memories.

32 Ashley @ Hudson on the Potomac May 25, 2012 at 11:42 am

Hope it stays sunny! I’m heading to the beach (Ocean City, MD) soon! Keep that bad weather far away!!!!!!!

33 Angela @ Happy Fit Mama May 25, 2012 at 12:17 pm

Beautiful way to wake up!

That’s funny about the oj. When I would go for NST’s during the final weeks of my pregnancy with twins I would get served OJ or apple juice to ‘wake’ ‘em up so they would be more active!

Enjoy your day!

34 Crystal May 25, 2012 at 7:32 pm

Same here. oj is so high in sugar and it raises your blood sugar fast.

35 Diana May 25, 2012 at 12:51 pm

Are you on Bald Head?! I’ll be there next week with my family – too funny! Enjoy :) :)

36 KathEats May 25, 2012 at 12:52 pm

No, Carolina Beach, but have a blast on BHI!

37 Lexi @ You, Me, & A World to See May 25, 2012 at 3:43 pm

Cheerio on! Hope that bad weather doesn’t get atcha :)

38 Angel7 May 25, 2012 at 4:50 pm

Thankfully, the baby in my belly is not waking me up in the morning :) However, it is making my tummy protude.

39 Kelley May 25, 2012 at 5:20 pm

I have no idea if this is true, but I have a theory that when you’re awake your body releases some kind of signal that you’re up and I think the baby picks up on those signals. My baby will often be completely still until my eyes open and then the kicks begin. Maybe that’s not true, but it sure seems that way!

41 Fran@ Broken Cookies Don't Count May 26, 2012 at 10:23 am

I never listen to the weather forecasts…especially on vacation. I figure, it will get there when it gets there!
