We traveled from Jamaica to Orlando to Richmond to the casa of Eating Bird Food just before midnight!
We had an awesome Au Bon Pain dinner in Orlando of pumpkin soup and split a spicy tuna sandwich. May have been the best airport dinner ever?!
Matt surprised me with the perfect dessert: chocolate covered almonds!

I also found the latest issue of Rachel Ray magazine and my name inside!

Thanks to Brittany and Isaac for letting us crash in their guest room (and drink their beer!) They had a rockin party going on and we mingled right in.

We all walked to Carytown to watch the ball rise not drop! I was a bit confused when the countdown began and the ball was going up!

Happy New Year!

I went to bed at 1am, and I think Matt was up till 3! After a somewhat iffy night’s sleep, we’re driving home now on a gorgeous sunny morning!
Home, sweet, home.

wow what an eventful last few days!! your trip looked amazing and your new year’s eve sounded way fun. happy new year!
Happy New Year Everyone!
i was probably standing nearby in your picture on cary street! we also thought that the ball rising was a bit different… we joked that we should have also counted up from 1-10 instead of the normal ten second countdown, too. as a longtime loyal reader i would have definitely said hi if i’d seen you! have a happy new year, kath!
Oh fun!! Would have been awesome to meet one another then
Wow what a week you’ve had!
Happy new year!
Stay safe and get some sleep.
Coming home to a party…Pretty Good! Happy New Year!
Happy New Years!! What a fun event to come home to.
Wow can’t say I would have been up for a little partying after a long day of travel, you rock haha! Glad you had safe travels home!
You guys worked that out well coming home straight to a party in Richmond! Happy New Year!
That looks like a great night! Happy New Year!!!
Have you ever seen the chocolate covered coconut pieces Next makes? They are insanely good.
Mmm that airport dinner does sound good! Happy new year!
Welcome home! See you tomorrow?
Yeah!! Walk in the PM? Lunch?
Glad to see you home safe. HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Wow. I’m impressed! I cannot function after flights or passed 11pm. Hope you yet plenty of rest now.
Safe travels!
Au Bon Pain is my number one airport food. Fortunately I tend to always fly through Philadelphia which has one.
Wishing you and Matt a very happy and healthy 2012, Kath!
Ugh, I stayed up until 3 last night too- way too old for this grandma. Somehow I still managed to wake up at 7!
i like the idea of the ball rising – like the beginning of 2012, instead of the end of 2011. :p hope the rest of your travels go well! i can’t believe you could party after all that flying.
Glad you two had a fabulous vacation! Ultimately, I know it feels better to be in the comfort of your own home, though. Happy New Year!
What a whirlwind tour! Happy New Year.
How fun being in Rachel Ray magazine! Happy New Year!!!
I lived near Richmond a few years ago. We spent a few NYE in Carytown. I liked the ball rising instead of dropping. Kinda of like re-starting the new year from the top. Happy New Year!
Happy New Year! And congrats on being in the magazine. Is it the holiday issue that you’re in?
I think it’s just the January issue?
I hope you and Matt are refreshed from a relaxing vacation
Happy 2012, Kath!

Yay for spending new year’s in Richmond! I was just down the street at Rowland’s Fine Dining ringing in the new year
Love Brittany and Isaac, truly awesome peoples, glad you had a great time at their party. Happy New Year!
Happy New Year, Kath! You beat me- I only stayed up until 11 pm. Hope you get to catch up on some sleep today and tomorrow- I’m sure you’re glad to be back home.
We’re celebrating my husband’s birthday today- being born on New Year’s day (National Hangover Day?) kind of stinks, so I always try to make it extra special for him.
Happy New Year Kath!!!
We were up until three this morning, and ended up sleeping past noon – one of my favorite New Year’s Day indulgences!
Whew- I promise our house is not always that crazy.
I need a long nap today!
Haha. You have fun friends!! I feel for you cleaning up today though!
Fun! You were in my neck of the woods… We had a relaxing New Years at Tap House, where I’m sure Matt would have enjoyed a few fun beers
Safe travels on your drive home and look at you two…from Jamaica to a NYE party with Brittany and gang..fun times!
Hope things are calm and easy with getting back to real life, unpacking, mail, etc.
Happy new year!
I’ll have to pick up Rachel Ray this month
Thanks for the trip report too…must.go.there
so fun! I was out to dinner last night and we were going to go to carytown but parking was a nightmare, so we rushed home to catch the ball drop on the tv, with 60 seconds to spare! glad you had a great trip and still got to celebrate!
Miami does it backwards too – we have an orange that “rises” upward instead of a ball dropping!
Rising ball?!?!? Whoaaaaa, weird
