Three Fer Three!

May 26, 2011

Three nights of local food + fun with Tim!!

I gotta say though, I’m ready for a salad and some beans tomorrow :) I’ve been eating “normally” while out, but I miss my kitchen a bit! I opened the fridge and didn’t remember what was inside!

After we wrapped up at the bakery, I biked home, got myself into one hot sweaty mess and took a freezing cold shower.

New night, new dress.

We decided to take Tim into the Virginia countryside to eat amongst the mountains, so he could feel more at home from the Montana Mountain state 😉

Of course Matt’s ulterior motive was just to lead him straight to the local beer!

Blue Mountain Brewery recently added this awesome outdoor seating area. We are three for three on perfect patio meals this week too!!

We split a bottle of the Mandolin to start – our favorite Blue Mountain beer

I only had one glass and let the boys keep on ordering and took over the drive home.

To start – nachos!

A bit cheesy + a lot chippy. Onion salsa on the side. We ended up pouring the pureed salsa on top though, which made ‘em more flavorful

For dinner we ordered salads to start

With the most amazing blackberry dressing!!! It was like my favorite JAM topping on a salad!!

And the reason we all came..

I mean:

I mean:

Hard choice!! We split the Mediterranean pizza. Delicious! I had 3 square and could have kept on chompin.

Picking out onions is not a favorite pastime of mine (the kitchen was not very thorough in the request to leave them off)

Tim was into the cheese plate so we ordered that for dessert.

I left the bread + meats to the boys and dug into the BURRIES!!! And had some of the other fruit and smoked cheeses.

Boy is our house hot and sweaty right now! It was a super hot day. I worked in the office and then stepped outside for a walk with Allie mid afternoon and came back drenched!

Matt and I have to get up and go in early to make sandwiches for a special radio thing we’re doing, so I’m hoping to get in bed early. Otherwise, tomorrow is a light day – and I get to eat lunch at home!

Best wishes for your radio spot! :)

We went to Blue Mountain Brewery last Sunday on our brief visit to Cville (we also drove past GH!). The view was spectacular and the beer tastey (I had the sampler). What a great way to spend an afternoon (or evening) with friends.

5 Grace @ Healthy Dreaming May 26, 2011 at 8:46 pm

I love your shoes! Food looks so yummy! I can relate to missing the kitchen after a few days eating out. I feel the same way when I travel even if I’m indulging in delicious foods :)

6 Abby May 26, 2011 at 8:48 pm

That pizza looks great and the cheese plate is so pretty! :)

7 Eric Marcotte, MD May 26, 2011 at 8:52 pm

WOW that all looks good! Easily the most impressive ‘cheese plate’ I’ve ever seen. I’ve gotta move, we have nothing like that here in Indiana :(

8 staceyhealthylife May 26, 2011 at 8:52 pm

Wow the pizza and the cheese plate look like the best part of the meal, yum.

9 saikhan May 26, 2011 at 8:55 pm

The pizza looks amazing — and how nice of you to be the sober cab :)

11 kaila @ healthy helper! May 26, 2011 at 8:57 pm

I love that dress! Looks great on you! And I love the idea of a cheese plate for desert! Especially the berries….sweet and healthy way to end the night!

12 Megan May 26, 2011 at 8:59 pm

That pizza looks spectacular! The crust looks perfectly thin and crispy!
You look so cute! :)

13 Tori (Fresh Fruition) May 26, 2011 at 9:07 pm

You look gorgeous! And I’ve always wanted to try a cheese plate!

14 Lauren May 26, 2011 at 9:07 pm

That dress is too cute! And oh MAN that food looks delicious. That cheese plate is taking my breath away…YUM.

15 Allison @ Happy Tales May 26, 2011 at 9:13 pm

Aw, this looks like such a pleasant evening out. I’m so glad you’ve been having such fun week entertaining out! Oh, and that pizza looks soooo good!

16 Amy May 26, 2011 at 9:13 pm

I know you just said your house is hot and sweaty, but … I’m kind of jealous? My husband likes to have the a/c on all the time and to me, it’s just not summer without the windows open. I guess I have a higher tolerance for the heat!

Enjoy your light day tomorrow – and your lunch at home!

17 Kathleen @ KatsHealthCorner May 26, 2011 at 9:18 pm

You ARE SO PRETTY!!!! :)

18 KathEats May 26, 2011 at 9:21 pm

26 Sarah @ The Strength of Faith May 26, 2011 at 9:42 pm

I love how Matt is ten steps ahead en route to the beer :)

27 Ellie@fitforthesoul May 26, 2011 at 9:43 pm

haha i was going to say how funny that is too! 😛 I love the new dress Kath! I have a sort of dress-like outfit that color and i love that color! especially for us “fairer” girls. You’re right, those are all hard choices.

28 lynn @ the actor's diet May 26, 2011 at 9:42 pm

i LOVE a jammy dressing. why don’t i add more jam to my homemade ones?!?

29 Meaghan O'Connor (My Spoonful of Inspiration) May 26, 2011 at 9:48 pm

Looks like a beautiful meal! :) I am a huge fan of creative pizzas- although the other members of my family mostly stick to pepperoni and cheese. So much for healthy toppings!

30 Chloe (South Beach Girl) May 26, 2011 at 9:53 pm

Your dress is super cute & very flattering on your figure, I also love the color! Oh, and the cheese plate looks amazing :)

31 Averie (LoveVeggiesandYoga) May 26, 2011 at 9:57 pm

Have fun and good luck at the radio shindig!

I want to walk with YOU AND ALLIE!! How fun!!

“amazing blackberry dressing!!! It was like my favorite JAM topping on a salad!!”— I have a sudden craving for that and want to try that with the strawberry jam in my fridge!

And you in that purple dress..Kath, you look amazing! Dare I say, Matt better keep you under lock and key b/c you’re turning heads in that lil number, I can guarantee it :)

32 Angel7 May 26, 2011 at 9:58 pm

The Brewery has a very cool patio setting!

I love nachos! Speaking of jalapenos, since they are on your nachos… My husband and I ate a whole jalapeno together last night–just for the sheer fun of it! It was quite funny & hot in the mouth :)

The blackberry dressing on your salad looks phenomenal! I would love it!

We love pizza in our household, and that pizza looks so delish! I wish I could have a piece right now :)

33 katie @KatieDid May 26, 2011 at 9:59 pm

thats a gorgeous place to eat dinner. You have it so good in charlostville! looks like another fun meal and i love the color on you too!

34 Laura (On the Threshold of Greatness) May 26, 2011 at 10:01 pm

That pizza looks incredible!

I love that dress too! It’s hard to find summer appropriate dresses when you are blessed in the um… chest area. Where’s it from? It’s cute!

35 KathEats May 27, 2011 at 6:40 am

I got it at a clothing swap. The tag says Brooklyn Industries

36 Baking 'n' Books May 26, 2011 at 10:05 pm

Love the bright colors you wear.

Holy pizza…God, I love it. There is just no way to stop after 3 squares – I need your resolve. The crust looks awesome.

37 Kaitlyn @ 7 Plates May 26, 2011 at 10:08 pm

Looks so good! I <3 Pizza :)

38 Allison @ The Delicious Life May 26, 2011 at 10:10 pm

The cheese plate!!!!! I would have ordered that as my entire meal 😉

39 Kat @ Cupcake Kat May 26, 2011 at 10:12 pm

I’ve been wondering, why do you not like onions? Is it because it makes your breath funky? I like the flavor of onions but sometimes raw onions can hurt my tummy

40 KathEats May 27, 2011 at 6:42 am

It’s the breath + the taste. I could probably handle one or the other if I liked one, but I hate both so it’s a double whammy

41 Char May 26, 2011 at 10:22 pm

Oh man that pizza looks SO good. I shouldn’t be looking at those kinda pics before bed…now I’m hungry!

42 Kathy W. May 26, 2011 at 10:24 pm

Love the dress AND the necklace. also want to know the source/store!

43 KathEats May 27, 2011 at 6:42 am

The necklace was a gift from my mom – buttons. The dress is Brooklyn Industries from a clothing swap

44 Sarah Rose May 26, 2011 at 10:26 pm

Hi Kath,

I’m so excited to see the bakery up and running! Best of luck to you & Matt!

45 Danielle @ weightsandmeasures May 26, 2011 at 10:28 pm

Holy crow that pizza looks fantastic! That cheese plate was just about as idealistic as could be. I do love eating on a good patio.

46 Lauren @ Sassy Molassy May 26, 2011 at 10:44 pm

Okay, this looks like the best meal ever. Someone would have needed to wheelbarrow me home if I had been there. I can’t be contained with that much cheese and bread around. YUUUUUM.

47 Allie (Live Laugh Eat) May 26, 2011 at 11:23 pm

Jam salad dressing…must try! Even though it’s super hot I’m now craving pumpkin butter dressing. Mmm!

I still can’t believe you got ALL that cute clothes from the swap. Great color on you.

48 Khushboo May 26, 2011 at 11:30 pm

Everything looks delicious but er I think I missed something: you poured the onion salsa on the chips????????? Keyword, of course, being onions!

49 KathEats May 27, 2011 at 6:43 am

Haha, no. I should have been more clear – there was another salsa on the backside that was more like tomato sauce and that’s the one we used :)

50 Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife May 26, 2011 at 11:48 pm

mmmm I had pizza tonight too :)

51 Marina May 27, 2011 at 12:06 am

Dinner looks great, from start to finish!
Good luck on the radio!

52 Hannah May 27, 2011 at 12:27 am

Love how well-matched your dress and necklace are! :)

53 Justeen @ Blissful Baking May 27, 2011 at 1:41 am

Pizza and beer are always delicious!!

54 Kristen Waby May 27, 2011 at 3:25 am

I’ve had a lot of cheese plates in Spain…but nothing that HUGE!!!

55 Cait @ Beyond Bananas May 27, 2011 at 4:33 am

Ahhh PIZZA! You just reminded me we are makin it for dinner and now I am SUPER excited!

56 The Teenage Taste May 27, 2011 at 6:12 am

Aw, Kath you look so pretty in that dress! Pink is totally your color! :-)

57 Riss May 27, 2011 at 6:13 am

I must echo everyone else’s comments…. the dress is lovely! I could never pull off that color, but you look adorable!

58 E May 27, 2011 at 10:57 am

Yep, me too! You look super cute in that dress (and I’m still loving your nail polish!) 😀

59 KathEats May 27, 2011 at 6:39 am

Thank you everyone!!

60 Jeannie May 27, 2011 at 6:49 am

Did you blog during your weight loss period? I would love to read that!

61 KathEats May 27, 2011 at 10:47 am

I didn’t – I was already at goal when I started the blog.

62 Alaina May 27, 2011 at 7:02 am

Love that dress!! And that dinner looks amazing. Looks like a gorgeous setting. :-)

63 Hope May 27, 2011 at 7:08 am

That pizza really looks amazing! I would probably pick the onions off too! I’m not a fan of onions on pizza! I love that dress on you! You look beautiful! :)

64 Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin May 27, 2011 at 7:24 am

That cheese plate looks amazing! I think I would have been tempted to order that as my main meal!

65 Jennifer May 27, 2011 at 8:11 am

That area looks just beautiful! I love your dress, too. It fits you perfectly. It has a really flattering cut to it. I take it you don’t like onions. I think there just something that you either love or hate. I happen to love them! I would have had extra on my slice. :)

66 Kristen May 27, 2011 at 9:02 am

They finished the patio! Last time I went I saw the makings of a great place to hang out instead of just the side of the building! Good to know – looks like I will be heading there soon :)

67 Jil @ Big City, Lil Kitchen May 27, 2011 at 9:32 am

That pizza looks phenomenal (though boo they didn’t really come through with your no-onion request) and the setting is just perfect!

68 Meredith May 27, 2011 at 9:46 am

My household is divided… I love BMB but my boyfriend loves the Backbone! This means we usually end up visiting both on our way to his mom’s house, such a tragedy 😉

I could have sworn that BMB’s nachos came on one of those metal plates right out of the oven and not in a bowl… hmm… I guess this means I will just have to go out there soon and try them again! :)

P.S. The article about GH in The Hook was great! Maybe I’ll try to pop in tomorrow while I’m running around town :)

69 KathEats May 27, 2011 at 10:46 am

I haven’t read the article yet – but it looked great!!

70 Lauren May 27, 2011 at 9:47 am

That dress is so pretty on you!

71 J3nn (Jenn's Menu and Lifestyle Blog) May 27, 2011 at 11:21 am

That cheese and fruit plate is SO beautiful! And the pizza looks YUMMY!

It was SO hot here last night, too. Ugh. Humidity!

72 Lara @ Treslala May 27, 2011 at 1:43 pm

Holy cheese plate, Batman! Love it!

73 Kelley May 27, 2011 at 1:47 pm

That first picture is stunning. Love the headband, the necklace and that dress!

74 Alyssa May 28, 2011 at 9:22 am

I’ve always wanted to order a cheese plate for dessert but have never had the stomach room left! That is the biggest cheese plate I’ve ever seen! Yum!

75 missy May 29, 2011 at 12:02 am
