Thisissoooogood!

That’s what I said over and over and over in my head while chewing through this:

I worked until 3:30 today and walked outside to buckets of rain. I decided on the way home that it was a good day to curl up on the couch with Matt. I hate the gym on rainy days anyways. I ended up curling up on the couch with this:

Delicious sweet melon

And the other half of that Pecan Pie LaraBar from last week –

After a while the rain did clear out and Matt and I went for a 30 minute walk around the neighborhood to breathe in some fresh air.

Then it was early dinnertime! We made my favorite bean burgers from the Turtle beans from earlier this week and some delicious Great Harvest High Five Fiber Buns -

IMG_8872 (1024x768)

Patty formation. Drier beans aren’t ideal (pinto + kidney are much better) but they still worked. See this recipe for the instructions: Homemade Bean Burgers.

Tonight’s mash had black beans, dill, garlic powder, Worcestershire (KEY), salt and pepper.

IMG_8862 (1024x768)

[Be sure to remove rings first!]

IMG_8865 (1024x768)

Served with pickles, jalapeno cheese, Fortnum and Mason mustard, ketchup and avocado. “Thisissogood. Thisissogood. Thisissogood. Thisissogood.”

IMG_8866 (1024x768)

On the side we just sauted up some green beans and more of the Costco cherry tomatoes with salt, pepper and cooking spray.

IMG_8867 (1024x768)

+ a pickle. Love this new Costco kind.

After dinner I decided to unclog our powder bath drain, which has been slightly backing up [ewww].

This video + baking soda + vinegar + hot water + a straw to dislodge = [double ewwww]

I really thought that was an unbaked chocolate chip cookie, and then i saw the words “black beans” and i made a weird face, and then I realized it was … a burger. HAHA!

Oh Goodness. The burgers look so amazing…love that avocado on there too. They’re practically made for black bean burgers, I think. :D

Happy Early Friday! :D

I had a black bean burger for dinner tonight as well- and I agree they are so good!

Glad the rain subsided so you and Matt could get in a little walk.

Happy early weekend- it’s not the weekend for me yet :)

“It’s the freakin weekend baby gonna have me some fun…”

Anyone? Anyone? :-)

Yeah, rainy days are meant for couches, snuggling, and movies, IMO. Maybe pizza too, but that’s me.

I love playing around with a similar bean burger recipe. I actually use pinto beans and chopped spinach, red peppers, and onions for the main ingredients as well as some spices. SUCH a good summer meal!

Ick, I just hate even thinking about clogged drains! Hope you enjoy the rest of your evening. ;)

Do you think the bean burger patties could be frozen (either before or after cooking)? I would like to make a batch, but I know I’m the only one in my household who will eat them.

Yum!

Do you think large kidney beans or butter beans would be better? I think I have cans of both of those in the pantry. Also, and I apologise if you said and I missed it, how much worcestershire sauce would you use for a single serving?

Serious burger cravings now! :) Good thing I picked up some gluten-free toasting baps last week.

some of us still have to get through friday :-P not the weekend YET.

i knew i was a real adult when i was able to do those gross things (like unclogging the drain) that would disgust me far too much to consider as a kid.

Thanks for the info on unclogging, actually. We have been having trouble with our guest bathroom and have been trying the envro friendly uncloggers and they are not doing the trick. I will be trying this for sure!

AND that burger looks awesome :D I love homemade bean burgers!

Bean burgers are among my favorite meals, since they’re so simple to make and SO FREAKING GOOD! I’ll have to try your recipe soon :)

Reply

36 Kath July 10, 2009 at 8:10 am

Rachel in Greensboro,
I haven’t tried freezing them, but I bet it would work. I’d use a starchier bean like pinto though, because the black beans I used were pretty dry to begin with and I bet they would just crumble apart thawing out.

Laura ,
Yes, butter beans would actually be really good!! A used 3 glugs of Wochestershire.
