The Non-Dinner

November 29, 2008

My lunch was pretty heavy in fat (healthy from the salmon/hummus and unhealthy-ier from the fries/butter), and it kept me full all afternoon – and evening! The husband brought home some baby bok choy and veggies to make a stir-fry with last night’s leftover chicken marsala, but around 8pm when we were watching the first season of Arrested Development (first timers!) I asked if he was hungry and he said only a little and I wasn’t much at all so we decided to postpone dinner and just have snacks tonight.

He made a plate of Thanksgiving goodies.

And I decided at 8:45 to have a snack of yogurt and fruit, which I figured were the food groups I was lacking most today.

So I had an orange

And a Fage Total (about half a cup) with pumpkin butter + granola + almonds. The husband brought home the Fage Total tub from EF because it’s expired (but I learned a while back that yogurt lasts forever!). I’ve never had the Total before. It was actually too thick for my liking. Almost like a dessert! I like the flavor and consistency of the 0% more, but this was still fun to have.

Plus tea

(These photos were a fake out because I really ate on the couch!)

I finished my paper just before 7pm (whew!) and just have to proofread it tomorrow. It’s 8 pages of “what I learned in this course” for Foodservice. I sure hope I did it right!

I have to spend tomorrow studying Organic all day (quiz tomorrow and test on Friday) so that won’t be fun. And we’re expecting rain. But at least we’ve got one more weekend day!

I think I’m going to go take a bath and start a new book.

Even thicker than the other Fage? Is that even possible? :)

What book are you planning on starting?

Hi – since you love your nut butters as well, I just wrote the following to Jenn at eatliverun and thought you might be interested: Naturally Nutty is offering 8% off its nut butters and has a new one, Chocolate Butter Toffee. They sent coupon code SAVE8 if you go to their site and have an interest. But you might know this since I found out about their peanut butter from your blog.

arrested development is one of my favorite shows! it’s too bad it was canceled; there are some rumors of a movie being made, so fingers crossed for that.

have a wonderful evening.

I’m currently watching the first season of Arrested Development too! I’m on the second disc right now, and so far I love it. I mostly love Jason Bateman and Will Arnett.

If you guys aren’t current 30 rock watchers, I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend it!

Arrested Development is the best! Tobias is the best for sure. enjoy!

6 seelee live (for the love of peanut butter) November 29, 2008 at 10:05 pm

7 Shelby November 29, 2008 at 10:06 pm

I do that sometimes, just have snacks for dinner. Or for lunch when I’m being particually indecisive. haha

Yogurt lasts forever?? Can you explain please?

Love pumpkin butter in yogurt! Have a relaxing evening!

haha I love the ‘fake out’… 😀

Goodluck with the school work!!! At least the rainy weather won’t be making you wish you were outside. 😉

Enjoy Arrested Development, one of my favorite shows ever. It’s hilarious. Good thing you’re watching it now; the movie version is supposedly happening! Eventually. Maybe. :)

hi everybody!
i was wondering if anybody wanted to come give me some much needed “mental” help (in a general eating disorder sense) on my blog. im pretty sure i have an average of zero readers, and would love some help!
much appreciated <3

I love your artsy photos… I need to do better with mine!

13 Runeatrepeat November 29, 2008 at 11:12 pm

Your bowls look so small compared to the spoon or is that just the way the pic came out?
Pumpkin butter with yogurt is my absolute fave right now!

14 erica November 29, 2008 at 11:26 pm

mmm, pumpkin butter and yogurt is such a fantastic combo.

15 Maggie November 29, 2008 at 11:27 pm

One of my fave shows :) I really hope they come out with a movie!

I have a hard time imagining something thicker than Fage 0%… sounds pretty cool!

16 emmy November 29, 2008 at 11:36 pm

I agree with you that non 0% Fage could be dessert. the side by side cups (with strawberry jam, honey ect) come in regular and 2% and the strawberry ones are out of this world so I’ll occasionly eat 2% and it’s beyond yummy. Even the plain bites seem sweeter than my regular Fage.

quick poll – who pronounces it *Fa-ya* and who, even after reading the side of the package, feels silly saying anything other than age+F?

17 Foodie (Fab and Delicious Food) November 29, 2008 at 11:41 pm

Sometimes I just have snacks for dinner, too! In fact, I did so tonight!

Yay for finishing your paper!

I’m also curious about the yogurt lasting forever tidbit – is that true? Any exceptions?

What book are you starting? I love to read, so I’m always looking for recommendations! :o)

19 MizFit November 30, 2008 at 6:23 am

THANK YOU for sharing that the photo was a fake out.

I really may do one food post at mizfit as people would be horrified with the where and how of my food I think….

20 haya November 30, 2008 at 7:41 am

yogurt definitely doesn’t last forever!! it will go moldy a week or two after the expiration but you’re safe until then.

21 Kath November 30, 2008 at 8:09 am

Molly ,
I am starting Eleanor something. I’ll have to get back to you on the title/author. Look for it in upcoming reading posts!

AppleC ,
Oooo thanks!! Between using up my Butter Toffee (with the help of Karen!) and having a few bites of Barney Butter left, I need to get at least one!

Julie ,
We’re getting into 30 Rock as well, but we need to watch the first season on DVD too!

Shelby + Jess,
I was being sarcastic about it lasting forever, but I recently ate some yogurt that was over a month expired and was kind of worried and many readers commented that the bacteria in yogurt give it a longer shelf life and that what really goes “bad” is just the texture. I’ve had a moldy yogurt before, but I’m not worried about it if it looks and smells OK.

Runeatrepeat ,
Those are the tiny versions of my bowls – they’re only about a half cup each. So the spoon was huge!

emmy ,
I totally call it cage with an F!! Only fa-ya if I’m with a stranger 😉

MizFit ,
I’d love a “What Miz eats” post!

I hope you liked Arrested Development! Mike and I own all the seasons – that show just cracks me up!

23 HangryPants November 30, 2008 at 8:20 am

Snacky dinner and TV marathons are THE BEST! I hope you love Arrested Development. I know I do!

24 KatieF November 30, 2008 at 8:46 am

Arrested Development = best show ever. Enjoy!

25 Shannon November 30, 2008 at 10:29 am

Eating on the couch is more fun, anyway! Especially with delicious food :)
Here in California, we’re lucky if it’s overcast. I swear, we become more of a desert every year. Enjoy the rain!
