Once upon a time, an egg salad sandwich was made.
I used 2 hard boiled eggs, smashed, along with heaping teaspoons of mustard and mayo and a dash each of salt and pepper. Layered onto Cville Crunch along with slices of cucumber. (Had to eat something green today!) Said sandwich was consumed at 5:00 before my walk to prenatal yoga!
I left yoga 5 minutes early so I could get to book club on time. Thanks to Seamane for picking me up!
We just finished The History Of Love. I liked the book and found it to be beautifully written. Parts of it reminded me of She’s Come Undone – the way Krauss and Lamb both describe the little details of life. The characters were really interesting and I love a story that unfolds. I didn’t loooove the book, as it was confusing and sort of depressing, but it was a good read – perfect for a book club. In fact, it would be perfect to write an essay about but I’m not planning to do that!
Book Club Snacks = Dinner #2. Pita chips with pesto and lentil salad (x2) plus crackers, baked brie and cucumbers. More green! Yay!
And a glass of sparkling apple cider!
Time to read something new! (And finish the last 20 pages or so of the Fifty Shades series!)

I’m love-love-loving eggs so I’ll have to do a sandwich soon!
Also – is Shades worth it? I can’t decide if I wanna join the bandwagon..
Despite the TERRIBLE writing, I have enjoyed them!
do you like tom perrotta (little children, election, the abstinence teacher, joe college)? i just finished “the leftovers” and liked it if you’re looking for a new book…
I haven’t heard of him! But I do have a big stack of waitlisters
Little Children was excellent! The movie was pretty good too.
I’ve had my eye on that book for a long time… glad to know it’s a good one!
Wish I could have stuck with 50 Shades so I could join in the discussion among my coworkers about the “love story” but I just couldn’t get past the author’s writing style. I TRIED so hard to “take it for what it is” (per suggestion of fellow readers) but decided to hand off my copy, for now. Happy reading!
I’m still not past the author’s writing style
I am obsessed with egg salad! SOO GOOD!
I just finished reading the History of Love myself! I was quite impressed with it although it is not the most uplifting, but it was beautifully written. I love the idea of pesto and lentil salad for a party snack!
Egg salad sounds so good right now! And, I will be daydreaming about your Cville bread – I can’t decide what looks better: the bread or the stuff in between!
And Fifty Shades = Addicting but poor writing!
I LOVED that book!!
And for a second there I thought those cukes were pickles! Which now makes me curious as to what eggs and pickles would taste like together…I think maybe good?
It may sound odd, but growing up my mom would add a bit of pickle juice to egg salad for flavor/to make it moister. Yum yum!
I’ve only gotten through the first 50 shades book and I agree, the writing is beyond tragic but I still enjoyed it too!
Now you are really making me crave an egg salad sandwich. Might be just the thing to make this coming weekend when it’s hot out!
Enjoy!!!! these last few weeks of reading! Not that you’ll never read again or anything, and I know everyone says it, but life just changes after a baby. But you already knew that
The baked brie sounds so good!
MMM egg salad. I used to think I hated it but having some really GOOD egg salad a while back changed my mind!
I need to incorporate more greens into each day for me and the baby.

I rediscovered hard boiled eggs – but I like them with a little thai chili sauce! Mmmm…spicy!
I love little tastes-of-everything plates. My favorite!
I love the idea of a book club. I wish I could find one around here. Maybe I should start one!
That sandwich looks so good! I may just have something similar for lunch myself!
Egg salad sandwiches reminds me of childhood picnics! Yummy! I am almost at the end of the first book of Fifty Shades…was hesitant at first to read it due to all the press about the writing, however, despite her writing style, I have found it addictive reading! Is it worth continuing to read the rest of the series?
yes, it gets better
Egg salad sandwiches are the best! I haven’t had one in so long. That sammy looks so good
Yoga and book club with friend’s sounds like a fun and relaxing night!
Impressive how quickly you go through books! I used to be the same until I realized that I was skipping over words to figure out what happens in the end. Hope all the good reading continues on after baby or WITH baby!
I don’t go through books quickly! I’m just getting in bed to read earlier than I used to – because I’m so tired these days!
The History of Love is on my “hope to read” list. I just finished Gold by Chris Cleave (the author of Little Bee) and I really enjoyed it. I am currently reading Live Your Dash and Something Blue by Emily Griffin and need to find my next great read. Recommendations? I am deciding if I want to read 50 Shades of wait a bit longer. I think I have found a book club to join with a new friend so I am excited. My kids and I do a book club together, so now it’s mom’s turn!
Ahh! I love those circuluar cookie/crackers that are on your plate, but I can never remember what they are called, therefore I can never find them at the store. Do you know what they’re called??
They are my FAVORITE! Carr’s I think?
Delicious sandwich. Love the bread, but then again, when don’t I love bread?!
As for books, the only books I find myself reading lately is about ultra running. I have this strange fascination for people putting themselves through agony!
melted brie and cucumbers sound like they’d be amazing together! Well, melted brie and anything really
i LOVED this book so much. i hope i’m next to pick in my book club so i can re-read it.
I’m with you on The History of Love. It’s not amazing, but a great book for discussion (or an essay). Also, I must say it has one of the most beautiful covers.
