I never substitute onions - I just omit them. And my food always tastes great!! Use garlic or celery if you want.

I have a question about onions. I recently started hanging out/dating someone who hates onions and can sense them from miles away.

I love to cook but I also have like onions so I do not mind and don't mind mixes that have onions in them. How did you subsitute with onions and what are some good dishes without onions?

I think it's awesome that kids are getting this kind of nutritional education. I don't remember learning things like this at school when I was a kid (maybe I just wasn't paying attention??? ;)).

Are these programs something specific to your area, or are they fairly widespread? I'm very interested!

Dude, I'm right there with you- and I think it's funny that so many people are actually *surprised* when anyone says they don't like onions- they're VOLATILE!! :P Seriously, they make some people sick- I used to be able to handle, like, fake onion powder in soup mix when I was little, but holy crap- if I even bite into something with onion and spit it out, the taste is in my mouth till the next day, at least. In November when I was visiting my boyfriend in Vegas, we went to a restaurant and there was shallot and/or onion in the dressing on my salad- I was sick for an entire 24 hours after and couldn't eat. I found something called Stomach Rescue by the company Peaceful Mountain (I think?) it's actually just colloidal silver, ionic water and peppermint, but it's AMAZING..the same hidden onion thing happened when I was on vacation in December, and it cured my stomach issues within an hour. I can't eat garlic, as it has the same effect- gas, bloating, foggy headache, stomach pain...sometimes worse. If someone eats garlic and talks to me, I basically run screaming in the other direction- I think it's the most disgusting smell everrrrr ;)

So that's why there were no onions in your chicken rice soup yesterday...I was wondering. Onion is THE most important soup ingredient.... IMHO. I wonder if you would like them if they were cooked and pureed with a bunch of other yummy things.

I would love to hear the list of super foods that you put on the bulletin board...? Did you even put the chia seeds on it?
