Boy is it HOT here!
Perfect day for a mid-afternoon peak-heat walk with friends! Still thinking about turning on the AC. It hasn’t happened yet!
New friends Alex, Eric and baby Finn met us for a walk. They here in Cville for an extended stay and have major roots in the city (and are moving back in time).
Faith and Tate joined us as well!
LOVE that we have friends willing to meet for walks!!
After our 30 minute loop around the neighborhood, we settled on the porch with Matt Cracks and Bright Basil Bean Dip
Cannot. Stop. Eating. The. Cracks.
And then got back up again for a tour of the BREWERY!
Including, the FIRST KEGGED BEER!!! Moose Drool Clone V 3.0! It has been tapped!
Cheers! [Says Finn!] It is going to be tough living with a keg of such great beer (and Matt Cracks!).
Everyone loved the beer!! I had a tiny tasting mug’s worth.
[Disclaimer: the baby did not really drink any!]
But he was very fun to play with! I told these guys I’d be happy to babysit anytime
And then Karen arrived! She has officially moved from Charlotte to Charlottesville!
This afternoon, the slow-cooker made us dinner. Recipe for this super-easy Butternut Fruit Soup is here!
No idea why I cooked a hot soup on a hot day! The yogurt and walnut topping MADE this soup!
Bread cubes on the side -
After dinner we went OUT – to see Brendan James!!!
Sparkling water for her, Magic Hat Octoberfest for him.
Three weeks ago, my yoga teacher from Charlotte, Tanner, bought me Brendan’s CD. [Tanner's friend represents Brendan.] For three weeks I have been in love! It’s one of those CDs that you just throw on and listen to straight through. I love every single song.
And I loved them even more live! The show was fab.
[And I think I have the same crush on Brendan that I do on Tanner - they remind me of one another!!]
4 hours post dinner, on our bike ride home, my stomach growled. I don’t think I could have fallen asleep without a snack. I had a snack bowl of milk with raw oats and a sprinkle of granola!
And I could eat 10 more!
Instead, I’m going to bed so breakfast can come sooner

Looks like such a great night! You are so lucky you got to see Brendon James, I have just gotten into his music and it is wonderful!
I hate when the tummy starts to growl before bed, but I like your way of thinking! The sooner I go to bed the sooner breakfast comes (hopefully).
Congrats on the first beer tap!
And milk helps one to sleep as well….at least it does me:) have a great night!
sleep tight..
Oh baby Finn is adorable!! I want Brendan James’ CD!
Aww, Finn is my favorite boy’s name! And he is a cutie like no other!
It is so hot here too. I can’t take it.
what a cute name! i love the name finn
Ah, I often put walnuts in pumpkin risotto, so it really makes sense to top squash soups with it too! Brilliant!
What a cute baby
)
granola with milk is my usual snack before bad. it calms me down
I want to make those crackers so badly!
Whoa- I wasn’t prepared to see a pic of a baby with beer lol. That’s cool you guys biked!
Milk and raw oats, really? I don’t think I could do that. Looks like a fun day. Sweet baby.
I’ve never liked beer–but in your last few posts, from the pumpkin beer to your own tap, I really wished I did…
Love having friends close by for walks. It’s such a nice thing.
You look good with a baby!
Have a wonderful Friday
what a fun day!
What a fun afternoon/evening. Now you can get some rest.
Butternut+fruit is such a great combo. It’s still super hot here, too, and I made soup the other day during a short-lived thunderstorm we had. Channeling fall!
Looks like such a fun day!
Looks like quite the day!
I love going to concerts!
Gaaah!! I love cereal bowls late at night – my alltime favorite snack!!!
That baby is adorable… and makes my ovaries ache.
I’m going to try and make the Crack(ers) – do you think it would work out with GF flour?
What a fun filled day. That baby is just too precious.
Where’d you get the gorgeous mini spatula that’s in the bean dip?
I brought it back from Kenya last year
I love your Barney Butter shirt
I love seeing live music, it just makes me feel so good to actually FEEL the music in me, you know?
Hey, thanks so much for mentioning Brendan James. I checked him out on Grooveshark and now I’ve got a new favorite!
That’s it. I am making those cracks asap!!
That soup makes me want to lick the screen!
My husband is totally jealous that you have a keg of homemade beer in your basement. Well, not that he actually knows that, but he would be jealous if he did.
Have you ever listened to David Berkeley? He sort of sounds like Brendan James to me. (I clicked on your link.)
Haven’t heard of him, but I’ll check ‘im out
your new friend looks like she could be your sister!! seriously!
Thats a nice compliment!
Looks like a fabulous day!! Love the kegerator. haha
I have albums like that to. I drop them in the player and listen to them song by song and can’t decide which song I like better. The latest one is Dave Carroll’s Perfect Blue. He’a Canadian artist best known for writing and recorded the United Breaks Guitars series.
It’s so great having friends to walk with, isn’t it?
I’ve been craving butternut soup for a while now. I love the sound of this recipe!
That is so cool that you have a little brewery in your basement! You could hold KERF tours at your house… or maybe they should be called KERB tours instead, since it’s beer. The Brendan James concert sounds great! I hadn’t heard of him till you posted The Fall but I love him now!!
Awww..you look adorable with a baby on your lap. Hint, hint. Sorry, I’m just selfishly wanting other bloggers to join me in the craziness of motherhood!
Man, Hubby would LOVE this
We might have to steal this awesome idea!!
Brendan James is my new favorite artist. Ever since you posted the link for his song “The Fall” he is all I listen to!
Do you guys like Moose Drool? My husband and I are going to visit the brewery that makes it next week! I’m excited. Your homemade beer looks delish.
Thanks for posting, love the attention Finn got! He is pretty darn cute isnt he? Looks like you had a fun and long day! Hope you have a relaxing weekend and see you sooooon!
We have a keg in our garage! NOTHING beats coming home from a long day and having a great beer on tap. seriously. I was a little wary when my husband told me he wanted to have a kegerator, but really..it saves us so much money! (We don’t brew our own…yet!). It’s cheaper than constantly buying beer, it lasts a long time, and no glass bottles cluttering up the garbage and going to the landfill (our recycling center doesn’t take glass..boooo).
THE DUDE ABIDES !! ;D
I’ve been reading your blog for awhile now and have never commented, but now I have to comment because OMG, I know Eric! How crazy to see his pic on your blog. How did you guys meet?
I grew up in Charlottesville (and my family still lives there), and so I’ve been loving seeing and reading about your new adventures in my hometown!
what a small world! We just met Kath yesterday cause I follow her blog! We are back from Colorado for an extended visit…
Fun!
Wow , you’re friends Eric and Alex are SUPER FIT!! Are you going to get into crossfit too? I cant believe she just had a baby and looks so amazing.. what an inspiration.
I don’t think I could stop eating those crackers either!
I love that you had to put the disclaimer in there. Because we all know people would be FREAKING out. As though A. you all would actually do that and B. that you would put a photo of it up if it were true!
Finn is freaking adorable! Beautiful baby blues
And I love that name. You look like a natural Kath
Hubby says he is jealous of Matt’s brewery, and his request is in our next house to have a room for brewing and game room. Ha, ok
Ohmygoodness. So much goodness in a post! And ahh – you got to see Brendan James in concert! How cool!
ps. you’re gushing over him made me buy his album on iTunes, and I totally agree with you. his music rocks!
music is good for us!
