We have a bakery!!
With tables + chairs (Thanks to CAROLINE at IKEA Baltimore for all of her help with them!) Ball jars soon to be filled with wheatberries + signs!
We have merchandise racks
That are now filled with delicious retail add-ons!
Mom + Gram – recognize your antique basket!?
We have cakestands – with homemade label stands!
All ready for sweets!
There are more shelves to fill
And homemade mixes to make! [Like our recycled library table from Possessions Recycled!?]
We have a crazy husband
And a great friend for helping us out! Thanks Faith!
Apple snack to hold me over to dinner
Matt and I worked straight through till 7PM and then called it quits. We strategically planned a dinner out tonight! A bit of biking (and driving for Matt) and we met out our destination –
Continental Divide! I’d call it a hole in the wall, but it’s really a nice restaurant. But it’s also hidden – and when you eat there you feel like you’re part of a secret
We started with beers – hard-earned beers!
Brooklyn Brown for me, Old Rasputin for him
No tequila was consumed in the making of this blog post. I swear!
We were working! Making lists. The usual!
For dinner I got the same irresistible burrito I got the last time we ate there. Filled with beans, mushrooms, peppers and cheese, it was DELICIOUS!
Came with a side of rice, a spicy tomato sauce, and a PUMPKIN MUFFIN!
I ate one burrito (saved the rest for leftovers), most of my rice and the muffin for dessert!
Off to get some rest – tomorrow I’m going to the bakery and staying all day!

LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!! And love how your hubby is doing a little bit of superman action!
How exciting! It is looking fabulous!
WOW the bakery looks great! Love the tables and the cakestands and card holders. All your hard work is paying off!
I see you’ve reached the part of opening a business where you’ve lost your minds and become completely wacky (at least one of you!) That means the end (or the beginning) is near!
I love watching this process and wish you so much success and joy!
Congrats Kath and Matt!!! This is a huge accomplishment!
Your baking place is beginning to look totally operational. The counter seems really friendly. And, your husband looks like an integral part of it all, especially without the creepy carnival hawker hat. Hope your week goes well.
Wow it’s looking so great! You guys are going to have a ton of customers!
This bakery looks amazing! Congratulations I’m so excited for you
A celebratory dinner where you enjoyed your food but still was mindful about eating sounds PERFECT!
Will you sell gluten free bread at the bakery?
AND
What are some healthy snacks to feed 8th graders
for a retreat?
Granola bars made with rolled oats, nuts and dried fruits! Wholegrain carrot muffins. Fruits and veggies (that’s a given though isn’t it?
)
I love the cute tables Kath!
I would avoid nuts with kids possibly having nut allergies (can be deadly).
Veggies and healthy dips/hummus always a hit for sure!
Also they could do make their own “pizzas” on pitas (you lay out toppings like
tomato sauce, veggies, etc for them to chose from (unless too huge a group of
course!)
Good point! Forgot about that…um, no nuts! Try seeds…maybe!
Agree with the hummus – although there are more people than I thought that can’t tolerate chickpeas.
Salsa dip! With veggies and pita bread. Ditto the pizza’s. Can never go wrong…
Looking good! I really, really love the lights. Very modern industrial
the bakery looks so good! you guys did an awesome job! can’t wait to see pics when it’s stocked with all the bread and other goodies!!!
The bakery is looking great! And I love that green table!
So awesome to see the bakery coming together! I love it. Everything goes together so well. I hope you guys are proud! Your hubby is just as crazy as mine.
I wish you both the best of luck with the bakery. It looks wonderful. Too bad I’m way too far away (in Canada!) But if I’m ever in your neck of the woods, I’ll definitely pop in!
So cool to see everything coming together! And I love that green table — I’d put that in my house in a heartbeat.
I am cracking up over the “parts enclosed” pictures!

It looks like it’s coming along great! I wish I lived close enough to pay a visit when it opens!

Wow, the bakery is really looking awesome!
The bakery looks awesome. It’s by far the best GH I’ve seen.
I love when all of the small details finally come together! Everything looks great.
I love how you’ve integrated the vintage and personal pieces with modern stainless steel. Its the same urban cottage aesthetic that you do so well on your blog! Wish you all the best!
You do have a bakery! I am glad that is coming together so well. A pumpkin muffin is not what I would expect to be served aside a burrito, but I like unexpected.
SO HAPPY for you guys!
Looks so good!!!
Mmmm! Gotta try that place! It’s on my list…
Oh, and on Sunday night guess what I tried for the first time?! Moose Drool!!! I had to, after you raVed about it =)
HERE!? In CVILLE!?!?! WHERE!?!?
Unfortunately, not in Cville – I was in WA state over the wknd.
ahh i went to continental divide for the first time on cinco de mayo and loved it! such a great spot. i like how the margaritas are served on the rocks and in a reasonable sized glass. i had their Blackened Tuna entree from the specials list and it was awesome.
I am so excited to see the progress of the bakery! And also [still] seriouslyyy bumming im outta cville before it opens. pretty sure i would have been a regular customer. regardless, whenever im back in the area, i know where my first stop will be!
Good luck with the rest of the opening preparations!!
I love the look of your bakery. I would be there everyday. It’s bad enough that there is one a couple of blocks away from my work. Those beers were hard-earned!
Whoohoo! Beautiful bakery! Great job! Please send a great harvest entrepreneur up to Maine, too!
Congrats Kath! The bakery looks fabulous. May I ask what color that orange is you used in the bakery. I am wanting to paint an orange room in my house but need to find just the right shade. If you could share that would be great. You and Matt deserved a nice dinner out. Yum.
It’s Roasted Squash (YUM!) Valspar by Lowes
Tables and chairs, yay!
Your dinner looks sooo good! Love burritos!
Looks fantastic!! I could definitely see myself stopping in for a loaf + a sammie!
Love, Love, Love the labels that were on the cake stands – especially after reading your post about trying to find good ones! I’ll have to tuck that idea away for later

Yay I’m so happy for you! Your bakery looks great. Matt made me laugh
YAHH looking great, girl!!
Oh wow the store is really coming together!! It looks amazing!!
And I’ve never heard of the Continental Divide, but it looks delicious. Is it downtown??
It’s on Main Street near the bridge over the train tracks
Wow. The bakery looks great! I love the modern feel. I wish I could get some sweets there, but I’m so far awayyy!
the “parts enclosed” sign was hysterical, something my husband would’ve totally done too. the bakery is looking so good! i love the idea of those jars filled with wheatberries.
If you’re selling Naturally Nutty… is there any chance you’ll start shipping internationally?
Maybe!? If you’re willing to pay the shipping, I could probably sell you a jar
OMG, I absolutely would!! Seriously! The only thing is that I know it’s really problematic to do personal bank transfers between countries… do you think you’ll be setting up an online shop at any time? Or do you know of a way to make it work? Not that I”m trying to add extra jobs to your list, just that I truly would if there was a way!
We’ll have to talk when we’re open
Wow it’s looking great!! Congrats! :] I love all the little details. So cute!
Everything is coming together so well! The store looks great!
Haha, you’re husband is too funny.
Kath,
I stumbled onto your blog a couple of weeks ago and am now completely smitten with doughboy smoothies! Thanks so much.
The pictures of all the yummy Great Harvest breads that you eat has me vowing to give GH another go when I am in the States this summer. Do all GH stores sell the same things? (For example, the jars of nut butters in the picture above or the granola that you rave about?)
Thank you!
Jenny
No, they don’t all have the same, but many of them do.
Hooray! It looks great.

Ha…Matt is such a goofball! Glad to see you both are in good spririts, despite your exhaustion.
The bakery is shaping up terrifically! Your attention to detail is imprinted all over it. I simply ADORE that renovated table…the shade of green paint is so cool.
Now, the fun will will begin…as you’ve been known to exclaim, “whee!”
Kath – Let us know how us long distance folks can support you in this business endeavor, i.e. online purchases of grand opening t-shirts, etc.
