My favorite part of a smoothie in a bowl is floating berries that just barely float!!
So beautiful…
This morning I dug into a double raspberry smoothie, served in a bowl with a spoon
Raspberry Blast Smoothie
- 1 cup frozen raspberries
- 1/2 a banana
- 1 cup milk
- 1/3 cup plain low-fat yogurt
- 1 tbsp chia seeds
- 1/4 cup rolled oats
Toppings included Nature’s Path Vanilla Almond granola, fresh sinking raspberries and buckwheat groats!
Tazo Awake on the side!
Other than swimming raspberries, there are really exciting things going on this morning…

Such a great article Kath! Congrats!
Gorgeous breakfast as always! Raspberries are probably my favourite berry…so hard to choose though
Hoooray! Congrats on such a COOL article
Wowie, great article Kath and love the pic
Congratulations on the newspaper article! what a fantastic picture of you!! I am definitely going to have to get a lesson on photography…your photos always look so beautiful!
Loooove the smoothie color! And you look gorgeous in that picture. Congrats and thanks for promoting the value of the RD!!
Floating berries! How fun. Congrats on the newspaper article – awesome!
The smoothie’s like a pillow for the berries – cute!
I never thought of adding buckwheat to my smoothie bowls, but great idea!
How exciting!!! That article looks awesome! And I love the groovy pink smoothie too! That shade is like my favorite color!
Awesome Kath! You are making great strides with all of your endeavors
That is a beautiful bowl full of smoothie. Off to check out the OpenSky deal!
I got my GH Cville granolas! PHEW!
My day would have been seriously disappointing if I didn’t make it!
That smoothie bowl really does look incredible – love the half sunk raspberries especially because it means the smoothie is nice and thick!
Have a fabulous day (and and LOVED the article by the way! This part? “I was tired of working 9 to 5, and I kept seeing people in Starbucks working on their laptops,” Younger said. <— YES! That could have come out of my own mouth!)
I was going to ask if you’d ever get a summer vacation or getaway with the bakery open – but I guess your going to HLS? And you traveled last week. That counts!
What a pretty colour the raspberries make! I love Tazo Awake Tea, perfect to power you through the day haah
yay for the paper feature! (: also, what do buckwheat groats taste like? i have some sitting in my pantry bc i picked some up after i saw them on ashley’s blog, but now i’m intimidated to use them…are they good on their own atop siabs?
Kind of like Grape Nuts
Bought my granola the minute it popped into my inbox!! Didn’t want to wait and then have it sold out! Excited for HLS on Friday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Your Granola is absolutely delicious, I never ate Granola before until it was offered on Open Sky with the pancake mix and oatmeal so happy to see we could order on Open Sky again.
Congrats on the article, Kath!! Breakfast looks yummy & summery. Enjoy the day!
That smoothie looks downright pillowy! Yum.
Congrats on the article!!
Congrats on the article!!! I love that pic of you also, so cute. I grabbed my granola
Missed my cville clusters after finishing my last OpenSky too quickly.
Congrats on the article!
And this morning’s smoothie looks absolutely gorgeous.
Firstly, GORGEOUS breakfast today, and secondly, congratulations on that big article!!!! That is such a great photo of you, Kath!
Congrats on the new piece!
The raspberries look so pretty and red! I had some delicious raspberries this weekend… in a glass of champagne.
great article! Congrats!! I am so honored to know a high profile cville celebrity
and those photos make me want raspberries. yum.
“High profile” ha!
Awesome article, Kath! It’s huuuuuge!
Just read the article, congrats Kath! I love your smoothies. I’m on vacation right now and wanted to make a dough boy smoothie so badly this morning but without my beloved coconut butter on top I just can’t do it!
YEAH for the article!!!
I LOVE your pics of your b-fast. Pink is a favorite of mine
I just bought the granola! Are you all producing it around the clock? How is there time for the bakery and filling all the orders…incredible stuff!
yeah, it’s a pretty big undertaking! 700 bags!
I have a problem! Those C’ville Clusters are too good. Nothing like eating a oatmeal cookie that’s good for you! I may have to hide these from the kids, they loved the last bag! Looking forward to trying a new flavor as well!
Your success is such an inspiration! I can only hope that one day my pictures will be as beautiful and my blog as cool as yours
Hey Kath,
Will you be selling the Cville Cluster often on OpenSky? I just bought Warrior Crunch and have some Love Grown Foods coming in the mail! I am chock full of the nola!
I would LOVE to buy yours, but I can only eat so much at a time, ya know? I will gladly buy some another time though! Hoping you sell it on OS at a later time!
We will probably do it again
cville cluster is THE best! i’ll be stopping by soon to stock up on goodies before we go on vacation : )
Congratulations! So much exciting news for you today.
Congrats on the article in the paper! I’ll have to read it later today
I’m waiting with anticipation for my raspberries to really blossom! I’ve got hundreds in the wait and I am so excited to put them in my morning oatmeal!!!
Awesome article!
I’m still trying to finish the last batch of Cville Cluster granola I ordered.. but I couldn’t pass up this offer. I love Groovy granola too! Yikes, I need to stop shopping at Open Sky.. =P
Made my first Opensky order! Can’t wait to taste the granola!
Have a great time at the gym!! Can’t wait to buy your granola, woop woop!
That gorgeous smoothie ahhh! You eat such beautiful food
I just blogged today about how almost all my food is ugly, but delicious–> and that’s what matters to me! But congratulations on the article, that’s such an exciting way to start off your day!
that smoothie looks delicious! That’s one thing I miss being here at home instead of at my apartment in Chicago, no smoothies! I did have a question though, why do you put chia seeds in your smoothie? I usually put flax seeds in mine and i’ve been hesitant to try chia seeds just because they’re so much more expensive (living on a serious budget here…).
I put them in to help thicken up the smoothie. Flax works just fine too!
I love your camera angles in your post. You certainly have a talent for photography.
That’s a great article, too. It answered my question on why you don’t eat onions.
I LOVE onions, actually, and put them in almost everything. I can eat the Vidalia onions raw. Have you ever tried them? They are sweet, not strong.
Hope you have a fantastic day!
Thanks!
I don’t like the taste of onions either – sweet or not – because it reminds me of the gross kind!
I love fresh raspberries- and I love the combo/angle of your pictures!
So beautiful! Congrats on the newspaper article, that is really exciting!
Hi Kath!
Do you think Opensky will start shipping to Canada at some point?
I don’t think there are plans for it. I’m sorry.
Congrats on the great article! You guys are living the dream of running your own business, something many of us would like to do but are afraid/don’t know how.
LOVE your orange mug!
Congrats on the article!! Yayy!
And your breakfast is truly, beautiful.
Great article…and great sale on Open Sky! I’ve been following you & some others on there for awhile, but this was my first purchase (and a great one to use my $5 credit from them on
)!
This particular bowl kills me! Bananas and raspberries cost the same as gold (almost) here!
Love the smoothie in a bowl! The only thing I’d add is a scoop of protein powder.
Congrats on the article!!
No need for that with milk, yogurt + chia!
Hi Kath!
I’ve been following you for a few weeks now, since moving back to Cville and discovering your wonderful blog! I’ve also decided that Great Harvest is my favorite local bakery–I’ve been in twice and sent my mom to pick up muffins for my bridal shower! Hope to meet you sometime in the near future. Congrats on the article!
Thanks!! I’m there in the afternoons quite a bit
I love green smoothies, but that pink color screams happy summer morning.
At least now I have a plan for all my cherries if they aren’t used up before vacation!
Just ordered the granola! I am excited to try it after seeing it on your blog.
Awesome article! That is SO exciting! The picture looks GREAT!
I LOVE raspberries right now! They are delicious and actually affordable–FINALLY!! I am trying to eat as many as I can before the price skyrockets!
Aw, what a great article!!! So cool!
Wow congrts on being in the paper again!!! Your a rockstar
BEAUTIFUL smoothie! I love the simplicity of the ingredient list.
And congratulations on being in the paper! I love seeing your cute open sky add pop op all over the internet. I spotted it on MapQuest the other day and I think that’s the only time I let the adds print with the directions!
Awesome article. Kath! Congrats. And yeah – your breakfast this morning is ridiculously beautiful.
I saw the Open Sky promo this morning! I hope there are still stock left later on – because the boy took my car today and I stupidly had my wallet in the glove compartment. He is in a meeting for a big part of the day and hasn’t responded to my texts!! haha
What a gorgeous breakfast bowl! Those raspberries couldn’t be any more appealing!
Great article!
Question though: I noticed in the recipe for a doughboy smoothie the article stated 1 cup of rolled oats…really? In ONE smoothie? AND 2 tbl chia seeds? Is that right? 1 cup of oats sounds like a lot! Especially for only 1 cup of milk and 2 tbl of chia, since chia soaks up a lot of liquid.
That’s supposed to be “SERVES TWO!”
They left that part out!
Congrats Kath! That’s a great picture of you.
How fun!
Congratulations on the article, Kath! That’s such great news:-).
absolutely GORGEOUS photos. Seriously- I’ve never wanted a raspberry smoothie more! Congrats on the article as well
congrats on such a huge article!! That is awesome. And that raspberry smoothie looks great… I went to get my raspberries out of the fridge and they were moldy. sad story.
congrats on the paper feature! what a great pic of you
oh and beautiful pix too…
That is awesome that you are in the newspaper! Now even more people can be inspired by your story.
http://faithfulsolutions.blogspot.com/
Ooooh, the pink is lovely!! I just finished a cantaloupe smoothie…first ever!
Question.. can yours or the warrior crunch be frozen or the shelf life extended?
I ordered both and there is just me to eat it!
Thanks for offering the granola again though!
I was in mourning from my last open sky order being gone!
Hmmm..I wouldn’t freeze the Warrior Crunch since it’s more of a loose granola. I bet the Cville Cluster could be frozen, but I’ve never tried it. The Groovy would probably be in the same boat as the Warrior. Perhaps just wait for another round?
Oh I already ordered them both! -

I will just get to eating!
Thanks Kath!
Congrats on your article!! I remember a couple years back I mentioned in a comment how you should meet up with Kristen from self.com and you were saying no way, she is like a celebrity, but I think you are pretty much a blog celebrity in your own right by now…good for you Kath!!
Your smoothie in a bowl reminds me of Waltz of the Flowers from the Nutcracker with the raspberries swirling around atop a fluffy smoothie cloud…my favorite dance I was in!!! Thanks for the memory throwback
Have a great day!
Congratulations on the article, how exciting is that!
That breakfast made me smile, so yummy!
I hope you don’t get tired of me commenting how gorgeous your food is and how your photography skills are simply amazing! Because they are
Never!
I immediately bought the granolas when I woke up this morning! I’m super excited about it!
Congratulations, Kath! The article looks great.
The granolas look so delicious!! BUT- how can your Canadian readers get in on the action??!
I’m so sorry it’s not available through OpenSky. If Matt and I decide to ship directly at some point we will certainly consider this
thanks Kath! us Canucks will keep our fingers crossed for the direct shipping…
You’re my hero!
That smoothie looks buy bueno- love the colors and textures!
Yay for being in the newspaper- how exciting indeed. Live it up!
Gosh I was so proud of you today reading the article. I’ve been with you at least 3 years and just love keeping up with you and Matt and the bears, etc. What a wonderful adventure opening the bakery has been for you!!
Aw thanks
Awesome article! Congrats! Love the raspberry bowl, too!
Congrats on such a wonderful article!
I love what you had to say about putting the spotlight on veggies like we do with dessert!
Love the swimberries photos. Luscious!!! Want to dive in and swim with them.
Congrats on the newspaper article!
Your smoothie bowl looked delicious! Your food and photography are always amazing.
Great article!!
Silly question: Do you ever WISH you liked onions? For me, garlic = your onions. I loathe the taste and will taste it the next day! I wish I liked garlic though because it is in so many delicious foods.
Not really, but that would make my life easier!!
I have the same issue with both garlic and onions, unfortunately. I’m convinced it’s just a compound that’s in both of them, because they both make me feel sick, even if I consume a very tiny amount- the taste not going away, headaches, stomach aches or nausea, and on really bad occasions, vomiting. I think onions are gross, but I wish I liked and could eat garlic! It’s the one problem I really have at restaurants, Whole Foods deli, etc. It’s funny to me because I voluntarily gave up wheat for a decade and that was nothing, but garlic and onions..damn!
I have heard of onion and garlic allergy before ..maybe it’s the allium that is in both?
Congratulations on the article in the paper. Good reading.
Happy to say I placed my order on Open Sky this AM for GRANOLA!!!!
Thanks for making both of these available. The C’ville Cluster is just fabulous and
I feel sure the other will be as well.
Have a great day….
Yay!! Just ordered granolas and can’t wait to receive them!! Thanks Kath!
OMG! YAY! I was just lamenting on how I’m almost out of the GH Granola! Wahoo!
Congrats on the fantastic article!
(That first photo of the embroidered flowers on the napkin/towel? Looks exactly like a line-up of oats and dried fruit!)
Every time I look at the above pictures, I think “Raspberry fields foreverrrrrr!”
Maybe I’m just dorky like that
I am happy to say that I ordered your granola on Open Sky this morning and I am so excited!
Congrats on the article!
Hey Kath! Already placed my order and so excited for it!! I just finished my bag of C’ville Cluster and am IN NEED of more!! Just curious, any idea why I received a $5 credit? Thanks!!
I think you must have referred a friend or something!?
They gave a $5.00 credit for back to school. I got it too! It’s just a special from Open Sky!
Congrats on the article! It’s so awesome how you managed to take your blog from just a small following to THIS. Kudos on all your hard work.
Congratulations on the excellent media exposure. Great newspaper article. You are definitely “making your mark”!
Your breakfasts always look so beautiful, almost too beautiful to eat, almost
Congrats on your feature in the paper
I love the Cville granola! I order last time and I am SUPER excited about more!!!
Thanks Kath for putting up the granola again. I have been savoring my granola and slowly eating it, and now I can chow it down because I have more coming my way! I can see why your addicted to C’Ville Cluster! It’s so dam good! I’ve been in a fall mood and for dinner, yes dinner I am making pumpkin apple oatmeal with a LARGE sprinkle of C’ville Granola! I can’t wait!! Please periodically, like monthly, add your granola, so I can get my fix! I also bough 2 orders of Warrior Crunch Granola, so I can help Susan and other Cancer patients. It feels good to do a good thing!
Great article in the paper…congratulations Kath!
Kath – I have been following your blog for a while now. . . I bought the granola from OpenSky and have not heard anything about it shipping? I have emailed OpenSky twice about it and have not gotten a response as to when they think it will ship. Any ideas? I am dying to get my hands on the granola! I bought your last Great Harvest offering witht he Panckae Mix, Granola, and Oatmeal and LOVED it. I am not very happy with OpenSky’s customer service AT ALL!
The order said it would be a few weeks for it to ship and I told you guys many times it was hand-filled and would take a while. We did the orders early and fulfilled them last week. They should be shipping soon.
