Late this afternoon, I drove out to pay my friend Lynsie and her newborn a visit and bring her some goodies. Remember Lynsie from Body Pump at 40 weeks? Little D was born 10 days ago and I had the pleasure of holding him for over an hour today. SO CUTE! He spent most of the time sleepin’ in my arms, with the occasional wiggle.
And this sweet kitty greeted me from the window! Orange cats everywhere : ) This one was named Tigger!
When I finally got back home, all of a sudden I was starving! Like “I can’t think or do anything until I eat something” starving. So odd how fast it came on. I wonder if my run (short as it was) suppressed my appetite for a while and then it caught up with me because I didn’t feel hungry at all while at Lynsie’s.
Cocktail hour snack! Apple + sunbutter + graham cracker square + one more square in my mouth
Dinner tonight was super easy and made from scratch! Made from scratch by someone else! When I was really sick about week 7, Karen took me to Mona Lisa Pasta and told me to stock up on their gourmet frozen pastas since the thought of cooking was out of the question at the time. For some reason I have been hoarding this cheese lasagna for…3 months!? (Funny how fast you can calculate time when you’re counting weeks
)
An hour later, dinner was steaming hot and delicious. This lasagna was practically homemade since everything at Mona Lisa made from scratch and composed of real food. It tasted wonderful!! The cheese on top was salty, the blend of ricotta and marinara was perfect and the noodles had a lovely doughy taste that I loved (I believe they were made in house too!) I would totally get this again. 1.5 pieces for my appetite!
Since I DO feel like cooking now, I sautéed up some kale and zucchini to go alongside. Seasoned with salt, pepper, olive oil and lemon juice, of course.
Really good dinner! Tomorrow and Saturday I’ll be working at the bakery all day, so we’re getting in some last-minute relaxin’ now!

Looks like a great lasagna – especially for being frozen!
Awww Little D is adorable
That’s so fun that you got to hold a newborn for over an hour. I imagine it’s even more special since you’re pregnant! Yum, the lasagna looks amazing.
that lasagna does look delicious!! and i’m a believer that everything tastes better when made by someone else
how fun you got some practice with little d!
That looks like one good frozen dinner!! Love the kale and zuchinni as some color on the side. And that baby is TOO cute! How precious.
Cheesy!!! I visited the Vienna GH today for the sole purpose of getting Naturally Nutty (the jar I got 2 weeks ago is gone!). I was disappointed to find out they don’t carry it. Gah! I consoled with some frozen chocolate bliss cookies—have you tried those frozen?! zomg
I haven’t!! Too good fresh
Love having made from scratch meals that are made for me! That lasagna looks tasty.
And… little D is a cutie!!
Yummmmm! That lasagna looks amazing. I’d buy something pre- made with legit ingredients, too.
I love all the orange kitties you come into contact with!!!
Happy holiday sales this weekend!

Aw! A whole hour of holding that sweet pea! ……Imagine- you’re going to get hours of baby holding soon!
He is so cute!!! I’m sure having friends with babies is just getting you all the more excited!!!
What a cute little nugget! I love holding babies when they’re ‘fresh outta the can!’ LOL I love it when they’re all sleepy, totally dependent on you and have that great baby smell. Sigh.
That dinner looks DEEEElicious!
Homemade lasagne is the best…just can’t stomach the store bought ones…I think it is the sauce…once you’ve tasted homemade…there is no going back! That one does look yummy!
Darling baby and kitty!
I’ve made similar lasagnas in the past in individual pans when I had time and then pulled them out later during hectic times, exams, etc.
You could probably make similar versions in your down time now to use later when the little one comes along.
Wow, I’d eat that dinner anytime!
I’ve been gone from blogging (due to honeymoon) for a while and as soon as I saw that baby picture I thought you had your baby!!!!! I thought, omgshhhh have I been gone for that long?!
And your food looks tasty~!
Oh my gosh he is just ADORABLE!!!
I’m STILL trying to get over how impressed I am that she was at Body Pump on her due date…she’s like my hero!
Too cute! What is it t sleeping babies that are so adorable!?
Aaww, he is adorable!
It’s amazing how fast they grow, whenever I look back at my 10 months old’s newborn photos, I’m thinking “she was so tiny!!!!” It’s amazing how the face changes every week too!
We’ve a local place that makes all their own sauces and pasta. I love to pick up their stuff when cooking doesn’t sound appealing but homemade still does. They have an awesome black bean ravioli that is my favorite.
That lasagna looks delicious! While I cook for one (ME!), I love to make a larger than I can eat tray of lasagna and then freeze the extra pieces individually so it’s an easy reheat for other dinners.
Have you finished Lost? I need to find a good marathon-watching series. When you say you get hungry all of a sudden – how do you feel your hunger? Do you actually get stomach hungry or headache, irritable, etc.?
Such a cute baby!!
I have an orange cat named Tigger, too
Although, she’s much, much fatter lol
You have me craving zucchini! And kale. I will have to settle for Brussels sprouts since that’s what my veggie drawer has in it
What a little peanut! The newborn stage is so special. They’re so snuggly, warm, and smell so sweet.
Aww, baby is precious. Dinner looks fab I’ll have to replicate it. Wish we had places to pick up real food and pop in the oven for dinner…that would be so nice! I guess I could get in the habit of doubling up dinner and freezing but who wants to do that??
I think your cocktail snack is pretty much one of my favorite snacks of all time. Yum.
Now that’s ready-made food which I would happily eat
Yum! I love lasagna! I recently made lasagna using whole wheat lasagna sheets and no cheese but I used lots of eggplant, spinach, sweet peppers and delicious tomato sauce. It was amazing! No one noticed the cheese was missing…everyone asked for seconds and thirds
Do you find that overnight oats keep you full longer than stove top oatmeal because of the added protein ( I use greek yogurt)? I’ve noticed that I get hungry for lunch sooner when I have stove top oats even though I add chia seeds and healthy fats. Any suggestions to boost the protein in stive top oats? Thank you so much Kath!
Both keep me full, but yes, oo might have an edge
That lasagna looks amazing for being store bought! It really looks homemade.
You got a taste of what it is like to hold a newborn baby boy
How sweet he is!
