Matt sleeps, and I make pancakes.
I savor pancakes while watching House Hunters.
Matt wakes up, watches TV, eats pancakes.
I launder the linens.
How many of these lazy Sunday mornings do we have left? No more than 3!
Today’s cakes were Great Harvest mixology with sliced peach. Topped with almond butter and chocolate sunflower seeds!
Hot mug of decaf – pretending it’s October already!
I have a tentative meet up today and a home cooked dinner on the docket for tonight. Other than that – nothing to do!

That breakfast looks so amazing! Enjoy your last few Sundays as a family of two!
Every time I check your blog I always say to myself, “I wonder if she had her baby yet…”
But today I only found pancakes! They look good as always
Soon!
OOh, I love that mug! I love lazy Sundays too.
I wore my Bodo’s Bagels shirt yesterday and thought of you and Sarah! Enjoy these last few weeks!! Be lazy!
Soon your Sundays will be filled with new and amazing rituals — how exciting!
Ahhhhhh, enjoy those rituals while you can!!!
Love the mug! I see those sunflower seeds eeeeverywhere and I try so hard to resist them. On pancakes = pure magic.
Savor the next few weeks! I’ve never had a baby (HA), but I can imagine that you won’t get much sleep. x’s and o’s to you, Matt, Karen, and the baby!
I can’t believe less than 3 sundays to go! It’s so crazy! It doesn’t seem like it was that long ago when you guys were announcing your pregnancy. So fun. I’m looking forward to seeing how these next couple weeks progress and “meeting” the little one.
Pancakes look delicious! I keep wondering too when you’re going to have your baby
I have been thinking the same thing- how many more days will my husband and I have where it is just the two of us? Oh heavens! ….Only one more Sunday till the due date for me. Sooooo full of emotions!
I had peach pancakes this morning too! I need to find me some of those chocolate covered sunflower seeds.
Enjoy the laziness while u can
I honestly can’t wait to read about the non-lazy Sunday mornings though.. which I’m hoping are chock full of adorable baby pictures. YAYYYYYYYY!
pancakes with peaches and chocolate sunflower seeds — that’s a great Sunday start!
I can relate! We’re trying to savor our remaining lazy Sundays too. I’m down to no more than 10.
There’s hope. We have had a pretty lazy Sunday around here. Up at 8:45, coffee, watermelon, cereal, the latest episode of Breaking Bad. Now, 1 a.m. was a different story with el Vampire Baby.
: )
A lot of parents say “enjoy it while you still can” like there is impending doom in your future but thats not the case at all! I have 6 month old twins so I am telling you to “enjoy it while you can”…not as a warning but as advice I never really took full advantage of!
Cram as many date nights, cuddles, movies, dinners, naps, baths, and lazy mornings into the next three weeks that you can!! You are a family of two now and that is soon to change…but it only gets better from here! Soon your days will be filled with so many kisses and giggles you won’t even know what to do with yourself. Your days will be focused on the baby completely so it will be hard to find extra time for yourself but when you do it will be even more magical than it already is haha.
What I’m trying to say is that you need to soak up the last three weeks as a couple and really enjoy the freedom that comes along with that BUT do not fear losing your free time…it will change, thats for sure, but in the craziest way…you don’t care because the baby will bring a happiness to you both that you didn’t realize was every missing! Haaaaaaaave fun!!!
What a beautiful way to describe the addition to a family. I haven’t had any children so I can only imagine how magical, exciting, demanding, tiring, and worth every moment it is. You both have such a good foundation as a couple, I can only see that as getting stronger when your baby boy enters the world.
You will have lazy Sundays. There will just be a NEW lazy. It might involve playing on the floor with a giggling baby, or taking a leisurely family stroll with a sleeping baby. Enjoy this lazy, and look forward to the new lazy!
i agree with the above posters!! We have a 3mo old little girl and still had a lazy Sunday morning! I was up at 7am to feed, hubby played with our daughter while I pumped (lots of morning milk=pumping to have in freidge/freezer for work days), she went back to bed at 8am and then we both went back to bed until 10:15am!! Very lazy indeed.
Kath- are you doing any freezer meals? extra food prep to have in the freezer? I’d be curious to hear your plans!
I’m not making a big freezer meals because I’m just not very good at them, but I am stocking up on freezer staples for quick meals – frozen fish, burgers, veggies. Plus pantry things like pasta, the tomato sauce we canned, beans and things. We ARE good at 15 minute meals : )
LOL, gotta love those 15min meals!
I made 6 (!) loaves of banana bread (my husband’s fav) and a couple batches of mini-muffins the day before I went into labour…2 weeks early. The freezer meals obviously never got made, but it was nice to have muffins/bbread to take out of the freezer and have on hand to offer to all the visitors!
enjoy the 3 weeks! and stock up on (sunflower) sprinkles for when the big day comes
How many do you have left? You HOPE no more than 3!
Enjoy your last few weeks of lazy Sundays!
Enjoy your last few quiet Sundays!
We had a similar morning. Olympics in the mix of course, too!
Since 2 months Anderson has been sleeping till 8 or 9! Every morning is a lazy morning. I’m enjoying it now, because I am well aware it could change any minute!
Love that you’re savoring every last quiet moment. Breakfast looks delish!
Enjoy the routine while you can!
LOVE the addition of the sunflower seeds! Happy Sunday!
Hi Kath,
I’m new to your blog & have tried quite a few of your recipes and have really enjoyed them!
Your homemade tomato sauce looked yummy and might be just the ticket for way too many garden tomatoes. Do you share your recipe?
Thanks-really enjoying your blog!
Hi and welcome Cyn!! Yes, the recipe is here! http://www.katheats.com/recipage?recipe_id=6000309
ahh i remember those last few weekends. We couldnt help but wonder whether each one would be our ‘last’ before C was born. Turns out she was in no hurry and was 5 days overdue!
LOVE that cup!!
I don’t have kids but friends who do say you’ll still do what you used to, but you’ll never spend as much time as you want doing what you want…. ’til the kids are out on their own!
Thank you so much for sharing your journey; it makes me scared and hopeful simultaneously that some day I might have children!
another poster interested in the coffee cup. Love it. Do you mind sharing where it’s from. It would be perfect for my sister. thanks
It’s by Hues + Brews and was an OpenSky product. Don’t know if they make the design anymore
